  • This study sought to clarify the relation of children's suicidal ideation and parental depression/life satisfaction, and the mediating effect of the self-esteem in child. With regard to suicidal ideation in children, most studies have used children's depression as predictor, not parental depression. Similarly, parental life satisfaction have not been included in spite of its general influence on child development. Relations among these variables were examined in 512 children and their parents in $7^{th}$ Korean welfare panel data using the structural equation model. Results showed that the maternal life satisfaction was the only significant factor affecting the suicidal ideation of children, no having the mediating effects of the self-esteem in child. The implication of these results and suggestions for intervention and prevention work, and future research are discussed.

Primary findings are as follows: (1) adolescents with higher level of abuse or excessive interference showed higher level of aggression. (2) the aggression level of adolescents with higher level of abuse or excessive interference consistently decreased over time. (3) the link between abuse and aggression was significantly moderated by playing computer game. In conclusion, the negative effect of the abuse on adolescent aggression could be significantly decreased by playing computer game.

  • The purpose of this study was to review the relationships among parental care and parental overprotection perceived by adolescence, their ego-resilience and self-regulated learning ability. For this purpose, a total 2,002 students were selected from the seventh data sets of the Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS). More specifically, samples were composed of 1st graders in middle schools(n=2,002). As a result, first, the perceived parental care had significant effects on the self-regulated learning ability both directly and indirectly through ego-resilience. Second, the perceived parental overprotection had effects on their self-regulated learning ability mediated by ego-resilience. But the effect of parental overprotection was less than the effect of parental care. This study implies that parental care attitude and ego-resilience play important roles in the continuous development of adolescents' self-regulated learning ability.

  • The purpose of the present study was to estimate the effect of adolescents' depression on cell phone dependency and to identify mediating effects of parenting style and peer isolation. The study used data from the $6^{th}$ waves of 2015 KCYPS(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey). Structural Equation Model(SEM) was conducted to examine the mediating effects of parenting style and peer isolation. The results showed that adolescents' depression had positive effects on cell phone dependency. In addition, the relationship between adolescents' depression and cell phone dependency was partially mediated by parenting style, not mediated by peer relationships. Based on these findings, further suggestions are provided to reduce adolescents' cell phone dependency by decreasing parent's over-involvement and improve adolescents' self control opportunities.

For this, the influence relations of parental supporting cost/time according to income, children's achievement level, parents' sports parenting objective, achievement expectancy, and task value were analyzed through simple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, income and identity objective had an effect on supporting time. Income affected the supporting cost. Achievement expectancy had a moderating effect of income on supporting cost, and usefulness value had a moderating effect on income and relational objective. It is significant that it provided a quantitative basis for understanding parents' child supporting behavior.

  • This study examined the pathway through which adolescents' exposure to domestic violence could lead them to become addicted to Internet games. A total of 709 middle school and high school students were used as subjects and data from the 'domestic violence on children and adolescent' section of the 2010 National Data on Domestic Violence were used. The results of analysis using structural equations showed that the subjects' exposure to domestic violence did not directly affect their addiction to Internet games but that it indirectly affected their addiction through decrease in parental attachment. This can be interpreted to mean that when parents who should be a source of safety for their children become agents and recipients of violence, adolescents come to feel alienated because they cannot form any secure attachment to their parents and cannot build trust or emotional stability in their real-life parents, and they accordingly become absorbed in the virtual world of games. The results of the analysis were then used to discuss action plans for the prevention and intervention of adolescents' internet game addiction.
