  • This study examined whether a correlation exists between the oral health indices assessed by experts and the self-perceived oral health status to develop practical oral health improvement programs for adults. In addition, this study provides basic data for carrying out oral health projects that can enhance the quality of life of adults. The raw data for the 2nd year (2014) of the 6th national health and nutrition survey were analyzed. Among those surveyed, adults over the age of 19 were designated as research subjects. In all age groups, correspondents with a higher DMFT Index assessed their self-perceived oral health status to be 'poor'. The oral health index evaluated by experts showed a correlation with the self-perceived oral health status. Therefore, as a higher self-perceived oral health status might help improve the objective oral health indices, oral health improvement programs should be strengthened to instill self-perceived oral health behavior.

To collect data, people in their forties or older in North Jeolla Province were convenience sampling to complete a self-administered questionnaire from April 2 to May 21, 2016. The data were analyzed by SPSSWIN 20.0, Chi-square test, t-test and one way ANOVA, Scheffe' post hoc test, Pearson correlation. Depression was negatively correlated with self-efficacy and oral health. Social self-efficacy was positively correlated with oral health. In pursuit of steady prevention and management, therefore, it is necessary to develop an oral health promotion program reflecting social efficacy, giving another consideration to education related to psychological oral health cognition.

Self-rated oral health risk in relation to psychological health and 95% confidence interval are calculated through multi-variate regression analysis, and the results were as in the following. Self-rated oral health OR was the most when subjects had felt stressed. Toothache experience, OR was the most when subjects had suffered depression more than 2-weeks straight. In terms of mastication problem, OR was the most when subjects had had psychological consultation experience. In terms of TMJ symptom experience, OR was the most when subjects had suffered depression more than 2-weeks straight. In terms of talk problem, OR level was particularly high when subjects had had psychological consultation experience. Therefore, daily stress, depressed conditions, and psychological consultation experience have a correlation with self-rated oral health. developing a oral health promotion program considering psychological health would help those two domains.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting perceived oral health status according to socioeconomic status and community periodontal index(CPI) and decayed, missing, and filled teeth(DMFT) using the 6th Korean national health and nutritional examination survey(KNHANES VI) and provide a basic data for plan of policy. The higher the age, the lower the household income and education level, the worse the subjective oral health had better oral health and there was a tendency that the respondents who had no oral exam within 1 year and experienced CPI or DMFT estimated their own health as worse. It is needed to make policy development to resolve the inequality of oral health.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine if self-rated oral health differed according to self-reported oral health behaviors in Korean adolescents. Methods: The raw data of 'The 6th Youth Health Behavior Online Survey' carried out by the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention were analysed. Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Logistic regression analysis were used to assess the relationships between oral health behaviors and self-rated oral health (n=73,238). Results:Oral health behaviors had stronger influence on daily toothbrushing habits. In particular, participants who brushed their teeth in the morning and participants who brushed their teeth more than 3 times a day were more likely to have good self-rated oral (P<0.001). Conclusions: Korean adolescents with high self-rated oral health reported practicing good oral health behaviors. These results highlight the need for the further practicable oral health education programs.

The data of the 2013 community health survey were used, and the data of 55,632 patients who suffered from hypertension and who were at the ages of 19 and over was analyzed. The analying methods used in this study were chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Gender, age, marital status, education, economic activity, income level and subscription to private medical insurance were identified as the factors to affect the perceived periodontal disease of the hypertension patients, and lifestyle and oral health behaviors were found to have exerted a significant influence on perceived periodontal disease. As this study found that not only the socioeconomic characteristics of the hypertension patients but their oral health care and lifestyle were all correlated with perceived periodontal disease, how to promote the oral health of those who are susceptible to periodontal diseases should carefully be considered.

The subjects in this study were sophomores and juniors who majored in dental hygiene in Gyeonggi province. The findings of the study were as follows: (1) As for knowledge on oral cancer, 63.3 percent acquired it from school, and just 32.2 percent were aware of how to prevent oral cancer. • This study used raw data from the 2013-2015 National Health and Nutrition Survey, and conducted a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify factors related to teeth extraction from Korean elderly aged 65 and older (4.037). As a result, the risk of tooth extraction was 1.84 times higher in males, 1.52 times in age 75 or older, 2.36 times higher in income, 2.04 times higher in income, and 1.44 times higher in smokers. The results were statistically significant as 1.49 times without oral examination and 2.30 times without dental treatment for 1 year. Through this, the current health behavior and oral health behavior can reinforce the basis of risk factors related to the need for tooth extraction. At the national level, we need to look for diversification.
