  • In this paper, the integrator used to reduce the error between the reference signal and response, and DC motor are constructed by bond graph. Then the model following servo controller which have the high adaptation with respect to inertia, disturbance and/or load variation in the speed control system of DC motor is designed by the bond graph, and then the usefullness of this modeling method is confirmed in operating analysis and design on controller.

  • The dual stage manipulator is composed of the voice coil motor (VCM) and piezoelectric ceramics transducer (PZT), which can produce the high precise displacement and express a well dynamic performance. However, inaccurate modeling of the dual stage will exacerbate the positioning accuracy. This paper presents an approach to model the dual stage system by using bond graph theory. And the state space equations can be derived through the bond graph straightforwardly, which can be used in computing simulations. Through designing the compensators for the dual stage system and simulating, the dual stage performs better dynamics characteristic than the single actuator system.

  • In many case of optimal design and sensitivity analysis, obtaining of transfer function between input and output variables is a difficult and time-consuming problem. The bond graph modeling is a method that is used for making it easy to analyze complex systems composed of mechanical and electrical parts. It gives us a simple and systematic tool to get state-space equations easily. And we can obtain the transfer function graphically using bond graph and Mason's rule. This paper shows how bond graphs are converted to block diagram and how Mason's rule is applied. And the simple direct method to obtain transfer function from bond graph is introduced. As a example, induction of transfer function of electric power steering composed of mechanical and electrical parts will be done.

  • In the most of acoustic system with low flow rate and low pressure level, one-dimensional, linear modeling techniques are used very well. At low frequency, the tube is modeled as inertia element and cavity as capacitance element, and to extend the range of frequency normal mode oscillators are represented. Bond graph modelling techniques are proposed to predict TL (Transmission Loss) and time response which is impossible by transfer matrix in muffler system. A simple acoustic filter which consists of several tubes and cawities is analyzed in both time and frequency domain.

  • Multi-domain design is difficult because such systems tend to be complex and include a mixtures of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and thermal components. To design an optimal system, unified and automated procedure with efficient search technique is required. This paper introduces design method for multi-domain system to obtain design solutions automatically, combining bond graph which is domain independent modeling tool and genetic programming which is well recognized as a powerful tool for open-ended search. The suggested design methodology has been applied for design of electric fitter, electric printer drive, and and pump system as a proof of concept for this approach.

  • Shift quality of an automatic transmission in a vehicle is mainly affected by transient pressures in the hydraulic system during shifting. In this study, dynamic modelings of the hydraulic system and the power train of an automatic transmission are made systematically by a bond-graph method. The dynamic characteristics of the line pressures and clutch/brake pressures during shiftings are investigated by simulations and verified by experiments. The effects of clutch/brake pressures on the shift torque are also investigated through driving simulation.

  • An automatic transmission is an important element of automotive power systems that allows a driving convenience. Compared to a manual transmission, however, it has a few problems in efficiency, shift feel, and maintenance. To improve these, it is imperative to understand the dynamics of automatic transmissions. This paper develops a dynamically-correct model of an automatic transmission, using the bond graph method. The bond graph method is ideally suited for modeling power systems, because the method is based on generalized power variables. The bond graph method is capable of providing correct dynamic constraints and kinematic constraints, as well as the governing differential equations of motion. The bond graph method is applied to 1-4 in-gear ranges, as well as various upshifts and downshifts of an automatic transmission, which allows an accurate simulation of an automatic transmission. Conventional automatic transmission models have no dynamic constraint, which do not allow correct simulation studies.
