Effect of Acid-Base Characteristics of Carbon Black Surfaces on Mechanical Behaviors of EPDM Matrix Composites (카본블랙 표면의 산-염기 특성변화가 카본블랙/EPDM 복합재료의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of acid-base treatments of carbon blacks (CBs) was investigated in the mechanical properties of CBs/rubber composites. The surface characteristics of the CBs were determined by the pH, acid-base values, and surface energetics. Their mechanical properties of the composites were also evaluated by the crosslink density $(V_e)$ and tearing energy (T). As an experimental result, acidically treated CBs led to the increase of the specific component $({\gamma}s^{sp})$, resulting in decreasing the mechanical properties of the composites. However, basically treated CBs showed a higher value of the dispersive component $({\gamma}s^L)$ than that of the untreated or acidically treated CBs. It was also found that the interaction of the CBs-rubber was improved, resulting in the improvement of the crosslink density and mechanical properties of the composites. It was then remarked that the acid-base characteristics of the CB surfaces made an important role in improving the physical properties of the rubber matrix composites.

  • 최근 CNT의 우수한 물리적 성질을 고분자 복합재료의 필러 등으로 이용하고자, CNT를 용액 중에 고분산 시키는 방법에 관한 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 용액 중 플라즈마에 의한 방법에 의해 매우 저 농도의 산용액 중에서 CNT표면에 친수화 작용기를 수식하는데 성공하였으며, 이로 인하여 CNT가 순수 중에서 장시간 분산상태를 유지할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다.

가교 키토산 복합막을 이용한 알코올 수용액의 농축

  • 투과증발법은 기존의 증류법에 의해 분리되기 어려운 혼합물(공비혼합물이나 끓는점이 비슷한 혼합물)이외에 열에 민감한 생성물의 분리, 과익쥬스의 농축, 불순물 찌꺼기의 제거, 정량 검출을 위한 유기 오염물질의 농축 등에 이용되었으며 특히 물과 에탄올의 공비혼합물의 분리와 물로부터 희박 유기물질을 회수하는데 행해져 왔다. 본 연구에서 사용된 키토산은 친수성기들을 가지고 있기 때문에 물과 알코올의 분리에서 물을 선택적으로 투과시켜 효과적인 투과증발막으로 사용될 수 있으며 투과속도를 높이기 위해서 활성층이 매우 얇은 복합막을 제조하였다. 또한 키토산 복합막을 다양한 가교제 (glutaraldehyde, glyoxal, terephthalaldehyde, 황산등)로 가교한 막들을 열처리를 하거나 키토산과 PVA를 블렌드하여 제조한 키토산/PVA 블렌드 복합막을 이용하여 에탄올/물, IPA/물 혼합용액에서의 탈수 실험을 실시하여 이에 따른 투과성능의 영향을 살펴보았다.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the effects of oral rinsing solution on the color stability, surface microhardness and surface roughness change of composite resin. In this in-vitro study, 80 disc-shaped specimens were fabricated of Filtek P60 and Filtek Z250(A2 shade). The samples of each group were randomly divided into eight subgroups (n=10). The baseline color values ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$) of each specimen were measured according to CIE LAB system using a colorimeter. After baseline color measurements, the control samples were immersed in distilled water and the test groups were immersed colorless, green and purple mouthrinses three times a day for thirty minutes. This process was repeated for two weeks. Green and purple oral rinsing solutions displayed color, microhardness and roughness change of all composite resin after immersion in the mouthrinses. Therefore, prescription of oral rinsing solution for a minimum of two weeks is a common practice, which may cause discoloration of aesthetic composite restorations of patients.

  • To improve pervaporation performance of water/ethanol mixtures, chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) blended and phosphorylated chitosan composite membranes were prepared. Chitosan/poly(vinyl alcohol) blends were prepared with various blend ratios and then crosslinked with glutaraldehyde by two methods. With increasing crosslinking agent content and crosslinking times separation factor increased and permeate flux decreased. Separation factor of the membrane which contains glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent was higher than that of the membrane surface crosslinked. Phosphorylated chitosan was prepared with various reaction times and composite membrane was prepared. As reaction times increased, the separation factor increased with high affinity for water.

  • 본 연구에서는 새도우마스크 제조공정에서 발생되는 Fe-Ni 계 폐산 용액에 Ni 성분을 용해시킨 복합 산용액을 원료용액으로 사용하여 분무열분해법에 의해 입도분포 및 조성이 균일하며, 입자형태가 구상이면서 평균입도가 100nm 이하인 Ni-ferrite 나노 분말을 제조하며 원료용액의 유입속도, nozzle tip 크기 및 공기압력의 반응조건 변화에 따른 생성분말의 특성 변화를 파악하였다.

  • Surface crosslinked chitosan composite membranes were prepared with glutaraldehyde and surfuric acid. Effects of neutralization for complex between chitosan and acetic acid and of water permeability for substrate membranes on pervaporation performance were investigated. For ionically crosskinked membranes, effect of active layer thickness on separation factor of water/ethanol mixture was studied. With increasing the water permeability of the substrate, the membrane showed an increased separation factor, while it maintained a constant permeate flux. Neutralized chitosan composite membranes revealed a decreased separation factor and a constant permeate flux. When the thickness of the active layer increased, an optimum crosslinking time to achieve higher separation factor shifted to a prolonged times.

  • The purpose of this study is to produce high putity composite powder composed of Fe-oxide, Mn-oxide and Mn-ferrite having superior homogencity in composition and particle size distribution by co-roasting process. Binary component metal (Fe, Mn) chloride solutions were produced by dissolving mill scale and ferro-mangancse alloy in hydrochloric acid. These chloride solutions contained the impurities such as SiO$_{2}$, P, Al, Ca and Na, which were originated from the Fe/Mn source materials. The neutralization and polymeric coagulant method were adoped to refine the hydrochloric liquor. When pH is far below the isoelectric point (pH 2-3), the SiO$_{2}$ was the most effectively reduced element, while other impurities remained unchanged. By increasing pH above 3, most of the impurities could be reduced effectively due to the coprecipitation reaction. The polymeric coagulants such as poly vinyl alcohol, resin amine and ammonium molybdate were found to have no effect on the spray roaster designed by the authors. The produced oxide powders were confirmed to be mixtures of Fe-oxide, Mn-oxide and mn-ferrite. the powders were homogeneously mixed and the particle size increased sleeply with increasing co-roasting temperature.

  • The poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-based thin film composite nanofiltration (NF) membranes were prepared by coating polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes, sulfonated polyethersulfone and polyamide NF membranes with aqueous PVA solution by a pressurizing method. The PVA was cross-linked with aqueous glutaraldehyde solution. The NF membranes coated with a very low concentration of PVA on all the support membranes was successfully prepared. With increasing the hydrophilicity of the support membranes, the water flux increased. Especially, ζ-potential of negatively charged polyamide NF membrane was reduced by coating the membrane with PVA. A fouling experiment was carried out with positively charged surfactant, humic acid, complex of humic acid and calcium ion and bovine serum albumin. A non-coated polyamide NF membrane was significantly fouled by various foulants. The fouling process when using humic acid and protein occurred at the isoelectric point. There was severe fouling when using humic acid and adding bivalent cations. By coating the polyamide NF membrane with aqueous PVA solution, fouling was reduced. The polyamide NF membrane coated with PVA was resistant to the acidic and basic solution.

Effect of Reaction Factors on the Properties of Complex Oxide Powder Produced by Spray Roasting Process (분무배소법에 의해 생성되는 복합산화물 분말들의 특성에 미치는 반응인자들의 영향)

  • In order to produce raw material powder of advanced magnetic material by spray roasting process, newly modified spray roasting system was developed in this work. In this spray roasting system, raw material solution was effectively atomized and sprayed into the reaction furnace. Also, uniform temperature distribution inside reaction furnace made thermal decomposition process fully completed, and produced powder was effectively collected in cyclone and bag filter. This system equipped with apparatus which can purify hazard produced gas. In this study complex acid solution was prepared by dissolution of mill scale and ferro-Mn into the acid solution, and the pH of this complex acid solution was controlled about to 4. It was conformed that mill scale and ferro-Mn containing a lot of impurities such as $SiO_2$, P and Al could be used as raw material by reducing the impurities content of complex acid solution below 20 ppm. Complex oxide powder of Fe-Mn system was produced by spraying purified complex acid solution into the spray roaster through nozzle, and the variations of produced powder characters were studied by changing he reaction conditions such as reaction temperature, the injection velocity of solution and air, nozzle tip size and concentration of solution. The morphology of produced powder had spherical shape under the most experimental conditions, and concentration of solution. The morphology of produced powder has spherical shape under the most experimental conditions, and the composition and the particle size distribution were almost uniform, which tells the excellence of this spray roasting system. The grain size of most produced powder was below 100 nm. From the above results, it will be possible to produce ultra fine oxide powder from the chloride of Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu and rare earth by using this spray roasting system, and also to produce ultra fine pure metal powder by changing reaction atmosphere.
