Lateral Load Performance Evaluation of Larch Glulam Portal Frames Using GFRP-Reinforced Laminated Plate and GFRP Rod (GFRP 보강적층판 및 GFRP rod를 이용한 낙엽송 집성재 문형라멘 구조의 수평가력 성능평가)

  • The evaluation of the lateral load performance for larch glulam portal frames was carried out using glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) as connector in two different systems: the GFRP-reinforced laminated plates combined with veneer, and GFRP rod joints glued with epoxy resins to replace usual metal connectors for the structural glulam rahmen joints. As a result the yield strength, ultimate strength, initial stiffness of glulams of GFRP rod joints glued with epoxy resin decreased to 49%, 52% and 61% compared to those of the conventional metal connector. This connector will be a stress device where the bonding strength between the GFRP rod and glued laminated timber is important. Thus, there will be a high possibility that a problem may occur when it is applied to the field. On the other hand, the GFRP-reinforced laminated plates and wood (Eucalyptus marginata) pin were measured all within 3% for all measurements of the yield strength, ultimate strength, initial strength and ductility factor, regardless of high cross sectional loss on the glued laminated timber slit joint. In addition, the variation of stiffness on the cycle was 35%, which was the lowest, confirming that it was almost the same performance as the specimen prepared with the metal connector.

  • A fretting wear test rig for dry ambient condition, which employs a piezoelectric actuator, has been developed. It is driven and loaded in a very simple manner with acceptable experimental accuracy. By using the rig, Inconel 690 tube has been tested under the normal load of 10 and 15N with sliding amplitude of less than $100{\mu}m$ during $10^6$cycles. The wear resistance of the material has been characterized in terms of the wear coefficient based on the work rate model. SEM micrographs show the complex structures of the scars, which consist of risen peaks, plate-type thin layers and locally exposed bare surfaces. The cracks spread over the layers give clue to the fretting wear mechanism of the material.

  • In this paper, the basic study on the design of the flexible keel of the energy-storage prosthetic foot was performed in order to Improve the walking performance and Increase the activities of the below knee amputees. Based on the analysis of the anthropometric data and the normal gait on two dimensional sagittal plane available In the literature, we presented a model of the basic structure of the flexible keel of the prosthetic foot. The model of the basic structure was composed of the simple beams, and linear rotational spring and damper. Laminated carbon fiber-reinforced composites were selected as the material of the basic structure model of the flexible keel In order to apply the high strength and light weight materials to the basic structure of the flexible keel of the prosthetic foot. The recoverable strain energy In response to the change of beam shape was calculated bur the finite element analysis and it was suggested that the change of beam shape could be the design variable in flexible keel design. The simulation process was systematically designed by using orthogonal array table in order to design the flexible keel structure which could store the more recoverable strain energy. finite element analysis was carried but according to the design of simulations by using the finite element program ABAQUS and the flexible keel structure of the energy-storage prosthetic foot was obtained from the analysis of variance(ANOVA). The dynamic simulation model of the prosthetic walking using the flexible keel structure was made and the dynamic analysis was carried but during one walk cycle. Based on the above results, an effective design process was presented for the development of the prosthetic fool system.

Optimum design of injection mold heater for uniform curing of LSR seal for waterproof connector (방수 커넥터용 LSR Seal의 균일 경화를 위한 사출 금형 히터의 최적 설계)

  • Automotive waterproof connectors are highly functional parts that must be air-tight in a complex environment. In the LSR multi-cavity injection molding process for manufacturing waterproof connectors, it is important to maintain a uniform curing temperature between the cavities in order to obtain a quality product. For this purpose, we designed the capacity of the cartridge heater differently for each position, and then linked the heat transfer analysis and optimization module to obtain the optimal cartridge heater capacity. As a result of the optimization analysis, the temperature deviation between cavities was decreased from $13.1^{\circ}C$ to $8.1^{\circ}C$ compared with the case in which constant heater capacity was applied, so that the design criterion could be satisfied within a temperature deviation of $10^{\circ}C$ for uniform curing. This study suggests that this method can be applied efficiently to the design of a large area multi-cavity LSR mold heater.

  • Chatbot is emerging as an important interface window for business. This change is due to the continued development of chatbot-related research from NLP to NLU and NLG. However, the reality is that the methodological study of drawing domain knowledge and developing it into a user-friendly interactive interface is weak in the process of developing chatbot. In this paper, in order to present the process criteria of chatbot development, we applied it to the actual project based on the methodology presented in the previous paper and improved the development methodology. In conclusion, the productivity of the test phase, which is the most important step, was improved by 33.3%, and the number of iterations was reduced to 37.5%. Based on these results, the "3 Phase and 17 Tasks Development Methodology" was presented, which is expected to dramatically improve the trial and error of the chatbot development.

Study on the Estimation of Long Life Cycle and Reliability Tests for Epoxy Insulation Busway System (에폭시 박막 절연형 버스웨이 시스템의 장기 수명 및 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The use of electric cable was limited due to the installation time and large space as the increase of power demand and load quantity in side line. In order to solve these problems, the application of busway system which can supply the large current was increasing. But it was lack of methods of performance tests to evaluate the reliability and results of test for busway system. In this paper, we presented items to evaluate the reliability test for epoxy coated busway system with reference to IEC 61349-6. In addition, we proposed items to evaluate the reliability and long term life cycle test for the epoxy coated busway system. The combined acceleration deterioration test that reflects actual conditions of the survey as much as possible was conducted considering both thermal and electrical stresses. The deterioration condition was selected to satisfy fifty years life expectation and the insulation performance verification test of the busway system confirmed the long term life prediction. Furthermore, as test items for reliability assessment of compliance with the environment for the use of temperature, humidity and load current where busway system was installed, thermal overload test, water immersion test, cold shock temperature test and thermal cycle test were performed. And we examined changes in characteristics and abnormality after tests. From results, the test items presented to evaluate performance and reliability of the epoxy insulated busway system were confirmed to be appropriate in this paper, and the performance of the product was also confirmed to be excellent for reliability tests.

Mixed Carbon/Polypyrrole Electrodes Doped with 2-Naphthalenesulfonic Acid for Supercapacitor (2-Naphthalenesulfonic Acid로 도핑된 혼합카본/폴리피롤을 이용한 Supercapacitor용 전극)

  • New type of supercapacitor using high surface area activated carbons mixed with high conductivity polypyrrole (Ppy) has been prepared in order to achieve low impedance and high energy density. Mixed carbons of BP-20 and MSP-20 were used as the active electrode material, and polypyrrole doped with 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid (2-NSA) and carbon black (Super P) as conducting agents were added to activated carbons in order to enhance good electric conductivity. Electrodes prepared with the activated electrode materials and the conducting agents were added to a solution of organic binder [P(VdF-co-HFP) / NMP]. The ratio of optimum electrode composition was 78 : 17 : 5 wt.% of (MSP20 : BP-20=1 : 1), (Super P : Ppy=10 : 7) and P(VdF-co-HFP) respectively. The performance of unit cell with addition of 7 wt% Ppy have shown specific capacitance of 28.02 F/g, DC-ESR of $1.34{\Omega}$, AC-ESR of $0.36{\Omega}$, specific energy of 19.87 Wh/kg and specific power of 9.77 kW/kg. With addition of Ppy, quick charge-discharge of unit cell was possible because of low ESR, low charge transfer resistance and quick reaction rate. And good stability up to 500 chargedischarge cycles were retained about 80% of their original capacity. It was concluded that the specific capacitance originated highly from compound phenomena of the pseudocapacitance by oxidation-reduction of polypyrrole and the nonfaradaic capacitance by adsorption-desorption of activated carbons.

A Study on Microorganism Dominant Species in Bench-scale Shipboard STP Using Combined SBR and MBR Process (SBR 및 MBR 복합공정을 적용한 Bench-scale Shipboard STP에서의 미생물 우점종에 관한 연구)

  • International Maritime Organization (IMO) is one of the most effective organizations in evolving international law for the protection and conservation of the marine environment. The IMO, MARPOL(Marine Pollution) 73/78 contains six Annexes that provide an overarching framework for the objectives of the international marine pollution. Annex IV was regulated by 64 th resolution in 2012 to control sea pollution from sewage. In 2014 large-scale wastewater treatment and nutrient removal device was developed with a grant from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. A combined new process of Sequence Batch Reactor (SBR) and Membrane Bioreactor(MBR) was developed to overcome the pollution caused by shipboard sewage. In the present study, shipboard sewage wastewater was treated by mixing and aeration cycle in the newly developed SBR process. Furthermore, during analysis by NGS technique(Macrogen Co., Ltd.), dominant species of bacteria were found in the aeration tank of the Bench-scale wastewater treatment facility. Bacteroidetes and Gammaproteobacteria accounted for 27.1 % of the aerobicbacteria and 16.8 % of the anaerobicbacteria, respectively. Microorganisms play a vital role in shipboard wastewater treatment. A further detailed study is required to understand the precise role of the microorganisms in the wastewater treatment.

Effect of Repeated Wet/Dry Cycles of Salt Solution on Flexural Performance of Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (반복적 염수침지가 강섬유 혼입 콘크리트의 휨성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Concrete is a representative composite material that shows excellent performance in the construction field. However, it is a brittle and nonhomogeneous material and exhibits weak behavior against bending and tensile forces. To compensate for such weakens, fiber reinforcement has been utilized, and steel fiber has been recognized as one of the best material for such purpose. However, steel fiber can seriously affect the durability of concrete exposed to the marine environment due to the corrosion caused by chlorine ions. This study intended to evaluate the mechanical performance of steel fiber reinforce concrete during and after repeated wet/dry cycles in salt solution. According to the experimental results, there was no reduction in the relative dynamic modulus of concrete during the repeated wet/dry cycles in salt solution for 37 weeks. Flexural strength was not decreased after completion of repeated wet/dry cycles in salt solution. There was no sign of corrosion in steel fibers after visual observation of fractured surface. However, the flexural toughness was decreased, and this is because about half of the concrete specimen showed failure before reaching the maximum displacement of 3 mm. Although repeated wet/dry cycles in salt solution did not cause cracks in concrete through corrosion of steel fibers, specific attention is required because it can reduce flexural toughness of steel fiber reinforced concrete.

Synthesis of Core@Shell-Structured Silicon@Carbon Nanoparticles by One-Pot Spray Pyrolysis Process and Application as Anode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries (단일 분무 열분해 공정을 이용한 코어@쉘 구조의 Si@C 나노 분말 합성 및 리튬 이온 전지 음극소재 적용)

  • As the demand for lithium-ion batteries with high capacity and high energy density has rapidly increased, silicon anodes (theoretical capacity = 3,570 mA h g-1) have garnered attention as potential replacements for conventional graphite anodes (theoretical capacity = 372 mA h g-1). However, silicon anodes suffer from severe volume expansion (~360%) during lithiation, low ionic conductivity (10-14 ~ 10-13 cm2 S-1), and low electrical conductivity (10-2 S cm-1), resulting in poor cycling and rate performance. To address these issues, this study synthesized core@shell-structured silicon@carbon nanoparticles (Si@C NPs) via a one-pot spray pyrolysis process using Pluronic-F127. Pluronic-F127 in the spray solution contributes to the synthesis of nanoparticles by preventing the formation of silicon nanoparticle/dextrin agglomerates and by undergoing pyrolysis simultaneously. Additionally, dextrin derived amorphous carbon was coated on the surface of the silicon nanoparticles to act as an electron transport pathway within the anodes and enhance the electrical contact between the silicon nanoparticles. The Si@C NPs exhibited a discharge capacity of 1,912 mA h g-1 after 50 cycles at 1.0 A g-1 and high rate capabilities (discharge capacity of 1,493 mA h g-1 at 3.0 Ag-1). The silicon@carbon composite nanoparticle synthesis strategy based on the spray pyrolysis process presented in this study is expected to offer a new direction for improving the performance of silicon anode materials.
