  • This study presented a plan to improve the life satisfaction and leisure status of the elderly in the With COVID-19 era, and the life satisfaction of the elderly. For this purpose, we investigated life satisfaction and leisure life for 107 senior citizens at the Gyeonggi Senior Welfare Center, and the following results were obtained. First, it can be seen that overall life satisfaction was relatively lower after Corona than before. Second, in the correlation between leisure activity and life satisfaction, there was no significant correlation between the level of leisure activity and life satisfaction before Corona, and a significant positive correlation was found between the level of leisure activity and life satisfaction after Corona. seemed If alternative measures are proposed according to these results, first, it is necessary to seek ways to improve and manage the environment for the elderly in the with Corona era in the local community. In particular, in order to reduce the adaptation gap among the elderly due to the many changes in digital technology, institutions related to the elderly are providing education on how to use smartphones and kiosks, but it needs to be expanded as a community-wide measure. Second, a systematic system for health care for the elderly in the era of With Corona must be provided. Third, the old-age income security system and support are required so that the minimum living security is guaranteed for the elderly who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the corona virus. Fourth, it is necessary to revitalize programs related to talking to the elderly and counseling for the improvement of relationships and location satisfaction due to social distance and relationship atrophy due to Corona.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigates 10-year trajectories of cognitive functions among older adults in their 70s to understand changes in cognitive functions as a continuum until very late life. This study also examines differences in trajectories of cognitive functions by gender and by changes in marital status, especially widowhood. Among participants of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA), the sample of this study includes 800 older adults in their 70s during the first study wave (2006) and those who reported their cognitive functions for six consecutive study waves (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016). The analyses were conducted in two steps. First, we conducted Latent Class Growth Analyses(LCGA) to investigated heterogeneous trajectories of cognitive functions in 10 years. Then, we performed multinomial logistic regression. Three heterogeneous trajectories of cognitive functions were identified. One group of 48.7% of older adults showed high cognitive function at baseline and maintained it over 10 years. Second group of 14.7% of older adults reported low cognitive function scores at baseline and showed continuous decline over time. Third group of 36.6% were showed mid-level cognitive functions and maintained their functions over time. We also found significant gender differences but not significant differences in marital status when we consider both in our model; however, the we found significant differences in changes in marital status when we did not consider gender in the model. The results suggest that the importance of considering dynamics of gender and changes in marital status to understand changes in cognitive functions in later life.

  • This study aims to explore health behavior profiles and the association between the derived profiles and living arrangement among middle-aged and older adults. Using data from wave 6 (2016) of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging, latent profile analyses were applied to identify patterns of health behaviors and multinomial logistic regression models were conducted to predict profile membership using living arrangement (i.e., living alone, living with spouse only, living with family members) and sociodemographic characteristics. A sample of 7,048 respondents aged 55 and older were included in the study. Results revealed that Korean middle-aged and older adults can be grouped into four health behavior profiles: "High health-compromising" (4%), "Moderate health-compromising" (28%), "Low health-compromising" (65%), and "High physical activity" (3%). Also, living arrangement showed significant profile differences. Compared to the respondents living alone, those living with spouse only were more likely to belong to low and moderate levels of health-compromising behavior profiles than the "High physicial activity profile". Respondents living with family members were more likely to belong to the "High health-compromising profile" than the "High physical activity profile" compared to those living with spouse only. These findings indicate that living arrangement needs to be taken into consideration when developing health promoting programs and supports. Moreover, policy interventions suiting the needs of various sociodemographic subgroups are recommended.

  • This study aims to investigate unmet healthcare needs due to economic or non-economic difficulties among the elderly aged 65 or older. Using Korea Health Panel Survey (KHPS) data from 2018, the elderly are classified into one of four groups (health insurance subscribers, non-take-up, lower income relief, and medical aid recipients) based on their level of medical vulnerability. For hospital or dental care, the prevalence rates of unmet healthcare needs due to economic and non-economic difficulties are 12.6% and 10.6%, respectively. The prevalence rate of unmet healthcare needs due to economic difficulty in the medically vulnerable group was much higher than that of the non-vulnerable group-that is, health insurance subscribers. After controlling for other influential factors, medical vulnerability has a great impact on the prevalence rates of unmet healthcare needs due to economic difficulties. Compared to health insurance subscribers, the non-take-up, the lower relief, and the medical aid recipients are 1.4 times, 3.3 times, and 2.4 times more likely to experience unmet healthcare needs due to economic difficulty, respectively. The results of this study can provide important policy implications for securing essential healthcare resources for the elderly.

  • In order to verify the effect of job-esteem attitude on the empowerment of social service workers on service orientation, this study conducted a questionnaire survey on manpower providing local autonomous social service investment projects in Chungcheongbuk-do through analyzing 329 copies of data. The main research results show that, work performance relationship and personal work orientation have a significant effect on job esteem among the sub-factors of empowerment, it was found that the work environment control had a significant effect on all of the service-oriented sub-factors (trust-oriented, sincerity-oriented, and type-oriented). In addition, personal work-oriented empowerment was found to have a significant effect on sincerity-oriented and type-oriented among the service-oriented sub-factors, and it was confirmed that the empowerment of social service workers had a positive effect on service orientation through employee appreciation as a medium. It was confirmed that job-esteem, which is a mediator, affects sincerity and type orientation, which are sub-variables of service orientation. In order to improve the service orientation of social service workers, it is necessary to develop a manual for a clear understanding of their work and to provide continuous and practical maintenance education so workers can develop their own abilities.

  • The data mainly used for the model are as follows: the personal information, the information of insurance product, etc. With the data, we suggest three types of models: content-based filtering model, collaborative filtering model and classification models-based model. The content-based filtering model finds the cosine of the angle between the users and items, and recommends items based on the cosine similarity; however, before finding the cosine similarity, we divide into several groups by their features. Segmentation is executed by K-means clustering algorithm and manually operated algorithm. The collaborative filtering model uses interactions that users have with items. The classification models-based model uses decision tree and random forest classifier to recommend items. According to the results of the research, the contents-based filtering model provides the best result. Since the model recommends the item based on the demographic and user features, it indicates that demographic and user features are keys to offer more appropriate items.
