Preservation of Strawberries and Cucumbers Packaged by Low density polyethylene film impregnated with antimicmbial agent, Scutellariae baicalensis extract (황금추출물을 함유한 항균성 포장필름을 이용한 딸기와 오이의 저장효과)

  • To develop a wrapping film, which suppresses the microbial decay through the storage and prolongs the selflife of fruits and vegetables, the antimicrobial packaging films were prepared and applied to the preservation of strtwberries and cucumbers. Low density polyethylene(LDPE) film of 50㎛ thickness was faricated with 1% of Scutellariae baicalensis extract. The LDPE film impregnated with Scutellariae baicalensis extract showed antimicrobial activity on the disk test against Bacillus cereus, Escherchia coli and Fusarium sp.. The antimicrobial film changed the color and light transmittance, but did not affect heat shrinkage, mechanical tensile strength and wattability. Strawberries and cucumbers were separately wrapped with packaging films in the state of closely-adhered packaging as well as modified atmosphere packaging(MAP). The wrapped strawberries and cucumbers were stored for 21 days at 5$\^{C}$ and for 40 days at l0$\^{C}$, respectively. For the packaged strawberries and cucumbers at 5$\^{C}$ and 10$\^{C}$, the LDPE film impregnated with Scutellariae baicalensis extract showed the reduced growth of total aerobic bacteria, molds and yeasts and did not give any negative effect on other quality attributes during storage in comparison with conttrol film without any additive.

Transparent Hydrophobic Anti-Reflection Coating with SiO2\TiO2 Thin Layers (SiO2\TiO2 박막에 의한 투명 발수 반사방지 코팅)

  • Functional coatings, such as anti-reflection and self-cleaning, are frequently applied to cover glass for photovoltaic applications. Anti-reflection coatings made of mesoporous silica film have been shown to enhance the light transmittance. $TiO_2$ photocatalyst films are often applied as a self-cleaning coating. In this study, transparent hydrophobic anti-reflective and self-cleaning coatings made of $SiO_2/TiO_2$ thin layers were fabricated on a slide glass substrate by the sol-gel and dip-coating processes. The morphology of the functional coatings was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The optical properties of the functional coatings were investigated using an UV-visible spectrophotometer. Contact angle measurements were performed to confirm the hydrophobicity of the surface. The results showed that the $TiO_2$ films exhibit a high transmittance comparable to that of the bare slide glass substrate. The $TiO_2$ nanoparticles make the film more reflective and lead to a lower transmittance. However, the transmittance of the $SiO_2/TiO_2$ thin layers is 93.5% at 550 nm with a contact angle of $110^{\circ}$, which is higher than that of the bare slide glass (2.0%).

Fabrication and studies on the properties of a spinning-disk confocal microscope (회전원판식 공초점 현미경의 구성과 광학특성)

  • In this paper, the result of a performance study on a home-built spinning disk type confocal microscope is presented. The confocal microscope was fabricated with a Nipkow disk made of the made of the microfilm. The throughput of the disk was 0.5%, allowing the observation of specimen with higher reflectivities only. A laser diode at 692.7nm was used as the light source. The topographic structures of a PC ROM and the CD ROM were observed with sufficient reliability, while the effect of the convolution of the beam size with the finite object size was found dominant. Also the shadowing effect by the etched pattern was observed.

  • 생분해성 고분자 재료들은 지구환경 보호측면에서 다양한 분야, 즉, 1회용 재료, 농업용 필름 및 생체적합성 재료(약물 방출, 봉합사) 등에서 실용화되거나 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이들 재료의 상업적응용은 물성, 분해능, 제조가격, 대량생산 등에 의해 좌우 될 수 있다. 이들 중 특히, 분해 메커니즘의 규명은 본질적인 응용에서 가장 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 분해 속도의 규명 및 조절은 제품의 수명을 제어할 수 있고 응용 분야를 넓힐 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 분해매채에 따른 생분해성 고분자의 분해 메커니즘 및 속도를 단결정과 단분자막 기법을 이용하여 연구하였다. 결정성영역에서는 분해매체의 크기가 작은 알칼리 이온에 의해 표면 및 측면 분해가 일어나고 크가가 큰 효소는 비규칙성을 가진 영역에서 선호적 분해가 일어남을 두 모델 시스템으로부터 확인하였다.

  • 유화중합은 물을 용매로 사용하기 때문에 화재와 폭발의 위험성이 없고 환경문제가 없으며 원료 원가 면에서 저렴한 특징이 있기 때문에 수요가 매년 증가하고 있는 실정이다. 이 같은 장점을 지닌 유화중합은 물을 분산매로 폴리머를 제조하는 유용한 기술이지만 유화제, 이온성의 개시제 등과 같이 폴리머 본래의 성질을 저하시키며 물에 잘 용해되는 성분을 수반한다. 따라서 이러한 기존 유화중합법의 단점을 보완한 새로운 에멀젼 라텍스 제조기술로서, 유화제 대신에 폴리비닐알콜과 같은 보호폴로이드 또는 유기 과산화물을 사용하는 무유화제 제조기법에 대한 연구가 이루어지고, 이와 같이 제조된 에멀젼 라텍스는 기존 공정에 의해 제조된 제품에 비해 내수성과 건조된 필름의 인장 강도 및 여러 매트릭스에 대한 부착력이 향상된다. 그러나 이들 방법으로 제조된 폴리머도 복합 물성이 요구되는 분야에는 한계가 있어 복합 라텍스 제조에 대한 새로운 연구가 최근에 많이 되고 있다.(중략)

  • 생분해성 고분자 재료들은 지구환경 보호측면에서 다양한 분야, 즉, 1회용 재료, 농업용 필름 및 생체적합성 재료(약물 방출, 봉합사) 등에서 실용화되거나 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이들 재료의 상업적응용은 물성, 분해능, 제조가격, 대량생산 등에 의해 좌우 될 수 있다. 이들 중 특히, 분해 속도의 측정 및 조절은 본질적인 응용에서 가장 중요한 위치를 차지 하고 있다. 분해 속도의 규명 및 조절은 제품의 수명을 제어할 수 있고 응용분야를 넓힐 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 단분자 막장치를 이용하여 생분해성 고분자의 분해 속도 및 이성질체간의 complex 형성을 통한 분해속도의 제어를 연구하였다. complex의 형성은 분해성 고분자의 분해속도를 현저히 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 산화실리콘 박막은 생체적합성, 폴리머 필름의 gas barrier, 저유전율, 환경차단 보호막 등 다양한 특성을 갖고 있어 연구개발이 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구는 저진공 화학기상증착법 (LPCVD)를 이용하여 산화실리콘 박막을 제작하였다. 실리콘 박막을 위한 전구체는 환경 친화적이며 상온에서 비교적 높은 증발점을 갖는 hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO)을 이용하였으며, 이때 기판은 실리콘을 이용하였다. LPCVD의 공정변수는 전구체 공급량(진공도)과 RF power를 중심으로하여 Taguchi 실험계획법에 따라 박막을 제작하였다. 또한, 실험계획법에 의해 최적 전구체 공급량과 RF power를 결정하고 산소분압의 변화에 따른 산화실리콘 박막을 제작하였다. 산화실리콘 박막은 표면특성 및 화학적 결합상태를 수접촉각, SEM, AFM, FTIR 등을 이용하여 관찰하고 분석하였다.

  • The new type phoswich detector consisting of the ZnS(Ag) and plastic scintillator for alpha/beta-ray simultaneous counting was developed for monitoring radiological contamination inside pipes. The detection performance was estimated using the PSD (pulse shape discrimination) method as a function of distance between the scintillator and radioactive source. The attenuation of particles traveling through a thin film for preventing the detector from being contaminated was experimentally estimated. It is concluded from our investigation that the phoswich detector developed can provide a sufficient alpha/beta-ray discrimination. The application of a thin film for preventing the detector from being contaminated was proven to be feasible.

  • Recently, the installation capacity of PV (photovoltaic) systems has been increasing not only field installation but also floating PV, farm land, BIPV/BAPV. For this reason, the new design and materials of PV module are needed. In particular, in order to apply a PV system to a building, lightweight of the PV module is essential. PV modules made of generally used texturing glass are excellent in output and reliability, but there is a limit to the weight that can be reduced. For the lightweight of the PV module, it necessary to use a film instead of a glass. However, the application of film rather than a glass may cause various problems such as decrease in photocurrent by decrease in transmittance and a increase of CTM (cell to module) loss, a degradation of the reliability, and so on. In this paper, PV modules using Ultra barrier film, which is recently a lot of interest as a substitute for a glass, its characteristic analysis and reliability test were conducted. The transmittance and UV characteristics of each material were verified, and the output of the fabricated 1 cell PV module was measured. In addition, 24 cell PV modules were fabricated at the lab-scale and its reliability tests were conducted. As a result of the experiment, the reliability characteristics of the ultra barrier film PV module were excellent, and it was confirmed that it could be used as the front material of the PV module instead of glass

Effects of Passivation Thin Films by Spray Coatings on Properties of Flexible CIGS Solar Cells (스프레이코팅법에 의한 패시베이션 박막이 플렉시블 CIGS 태양전지의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to protect the solar cells from the moisture and oxygen, we evaluated the electrical and optical properties for the $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ (CIGS) solar cells which were prepared by the spray coating method. Generally, the EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) films are laminated to protect the CIGS flexible solar cells, which results in a high cost process due to complicated devices. In this study, we tried to prepare the protection layers of the flexible CIGS flexible solar cells by using spray coating method instead of conventional laminating films in order to reduce the device weight as well as the process time. The CIGS solar cells with spray coating method showed an enhanced efficiency than the before treated sample (2.77% to 2.93%) and relatively proper water vapor transmission rate of the solar cells about 62.891 gm/[$m^2-day$].
