Effect of the Treatment Methods of Ethanol and Glycerine on Preserved Flower Quality of Carnation 'Desio' (에탄올 및 글리세린 처리방법이 카네이션 '데지오' 보존화의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to examine the optimal treatment conditions of ethanol and glycerine for processing technology development of preserved flowers in carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) 'Desio' commonly used for flower design. For this purpose, effects of dipping duration of ethanol solution and treatment duration and concentration of glycerine on preserved flower quality were evaluated. Ethanol treatment resulted in perfect dehydration and decoloration of petals and it was proper at 24~48 hours under high brightness and low chroma. Appropriate concentration and time of glycerine treatment was 30% at 36 hours because it resulted in Munsell value of 4.0R in Hue, 6.49 in Value, and 19.8 in Chroma (4.0R 6.49/14) representing the most approximate value to that of fresh petals. Decreasing rate in weight after desiccation tended to reduce by longer time of immersing and higher concentration. Weight after 12 hours of immersing reduced up to 86~90% according to treatment time in non-treatment group of glycerin, meanwhile, it reduced up to 51~69% under higher concentration of 40%. However, weight after 48 hours of immersing reduced up to 90% regardless of desiccation time in non-treatment group of glycerine, to the contrary, decreasing rate reduced by 46~54% through glycerine treatment of 40%. Time for desiccation required 24 hours in glycerin concentration of 10~20% except 6 hours of immersing time, however, higher concentration resulted in increased time up to 48 hours.

  • In the electronic records environment, along with discussions on ways to digitize analog records, it is important to prepare preservation strategies for each type of records produced and received electronically. In the same context, there is a need for discussion on applying a preservation format selection system with the goal of long-term preservation of data sets and audio-visual type electronic records other than document types. Audiovisual records must apply preservation strategies appropriate to the characteristics of each medium, such as images, audio, and video. This study establishes unique standards for selecting a preservation format for audio-visual electronic records through analysis of Significant Properties based on literature review, composed audio-type preservation format suitability evaluation items, and proposed a recommended format based on the results of applying them.

Mesh Simplification Algorithm Considering Volume Conservation (체적 보존을 고려한 메쉬 간략화 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, a mesh simplification algorithm is proposed which considers the conservation of the volume of a 3D model. In General, most of mesh simplification algorithm use a distance metric. The distance metric is very efficient to measure geometric error, but it causes volume changes between the original model and the simplified model. In this paper a mesh simplification algorithm which conserves the volume of the original model is suggested. A new vertex resulting from an edge contraction, takes a position which conserves the volume of the 3D model using the proposed algorithm. Although the new algorithm needs more time than the QEM algorithm, it is shown that it conserves the original volumn of the 3D model during the simplification.

  • 3D 컴퓨터 그래픽스 분야에서 사용되는 표면모델은 일반적으로 매우 복잡하고 방대한 양의 다각형 조각들로 구성된다. 이러한 표면 모델들은 사실감을 높일 수 있지만 지나치게 많은 데이터 양으로 인해 많은 문제들을 야기시킬 수 있다. 따라서 모델의 원래 모양을 가능하면 유지하면서 방대한 양의 데이터를 효과적으로 감소시킬 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 지역표면의 기하학적 특성을 잘 보존할 수 있는 에지 비용함수를 제안한다. 또한 병합에 기반 한 반복적인 에지 축약을 기본 연산으로 하는 표면 간략화 알고리즘을 구현한다. 병합에 기반 한 축약방법은 메모리를 효율적으로 사용할 수 있게 하여 실시간 데이터 전송을 요하는 응용 시스템에 매우 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다. 제안하는 알고리즘을 표면모델에 적용시켜 간략화를 수행 한 결과 기존의 알고리즘에 비해 높은 품질의 근사모델을 얻을 수 있었으며 원래 모델의 세부적인 모양을 잘 보존할 수 있었다.

Effects of Acetamide and Lactamide on the Viability of Frozen-thawed Mammalian Cells (포유류배양세포 동결보존에 있어 Lactamide의 효과)

  • While dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is the most commonly used cryoprotectant agent in the cryopreservation of cultured mammalian cells, it has been reported to cause differentiation of some cell lines by DNA methylation and associated histone modifications. To avoid the side effects of DMSO in cryopreservation, other agents might be more appropriate for maintaining the stable differentiation of cultured cell phenotypes through cryopreservation. All cryoprotectants should be highly soluble in water and display low cell toxicity. Cryoprotective agents have been shown to be effective in animal sperm preservation, and eight types of amides were examined in the cryopreservation of cultured mouse endothelial cells. Among the amides examined, acetamide and lactamide were effective cryoprotectants for cultured mammalian cells. The most effective concentration of lactamide, 1.5 M, had an even lower cryoprotective ability than 1M DMSO. Because successful cryopreservation of cultured cells is hampered by osmotic stress, the adequate ionic concentration was determined by diluting phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) in the 1.5M lactamide solution. The most effective concentration was $0.4{\times}PBS$, which minimized osmotic stress during the cryopreservation of cultured cells. As the addition of high molecular weight materials in cryopreservation media improves the viability of cells, the effects of bovine serum albumin (BSA), hydroxyethyl-starch (HES), and dextran were examined. The best combination of lactamide-based media for cryopreservation was found to be 1.5 M lactamide in $0.4{\times}PBS$ with 1% BSA.

Monitoring Technology on the Surface Condition after Conservation Treatment of Stone Cultural Heritage (석조문화재의 보존처리 후 표면상태 모니터링 기술 연구)

  • This study examined the applicability of deterioration monitoring techniques to establish efficient conservation and management system for stone cultural heritage which conservation treatment has been done. It was confirmed that deterioration mapping combined with photography and grid work, and adhesive tape test for the surface were very applicable to investigate the surface change due to deterioration, and assess the degree of granular disintegration quantitatively. The portable microscopic survey and ultrasonic measurement were efficient techniques to observe mineral looseness and microcrack, and to track the strength change of the stone before-and-after the conservation treatment. These techniques can be easily used by manage practitioners in the field through simple guidance and technical education. Also, it can contribute to build a long-term and methodical conservation and management system of the stone cultural heritage.

A Study to Propose Future Preservation Strategies for the Court Library Collection (법원도서관 장서의 미래 보존 전략 제안을 위한 연구)

  • In this study, we analyzed the current situation of court libraries and aimed to propose a future-oriented strategy for preserving and managing their collections. Based on literature and status analysis, the study presents the future preservation strategy of court library collections in three main categories: First, securing space for the long-term preservation of court library collections; second, establishing a system for collecting and preserving court library collections; and third, performing digital archiving for the permanent preservation and utilization of court records, valuable legal volumes, administrative materials, and other judiciary-specific resources. Through this, court libraries, including those in various courts, should resolve the issue of insufficient collection storage space, preserve holdings systematically and efficiently, and activate library use.

Study on the storage stability of allyl chloride and carbon disulfide in tedlar bags (테들라 백에서의 알릴클로라이드와 이황화탄소 보존성 연구)

  • The sixty nine chemicals that are closely linked to chemical accident are designated as the substances requiring preparation for accidents and managed for public health under the Toxic Chemicals Control Act. In this study, storage stability of allyl chloride (AC) and carbon disulfide (CD), which are highly inflammable and volatile in tedlar bags, was studied for gaseous chemicals sampling. Storage stability was studied considering storage temperature ($2^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$), chemical concentration (low conc. ppm, high conc. ppm) and storage time (0, 48, 96, and 144 hr). Also, the stability of bags containing one type of chemical substance and the bags containing a mixture of chemicals was compared against each other. As a result, two chemicals showed decreasing storage stability based on storage time. Also two chemicals presented statistical significance of concentration and mixing type.

  • 자연하천은 일반적으로 만곡수로나 사행수로 형태를 보이고 있으며, 직선수로에서와 달리 원심력에 기인한 이차류 영향을 받게 된다. 이차류에 의해서 수면에서는 만곡부 바깥쪽으로, 하상에서는 만곡부 안쪽으로의 흐름특성을 보이게 된다. 만곡부 안쪽으로 가해지는 하상 전단응력에 기인하여 하상에서의 입자가 만곡부 안쪽으로 이송되며, 결과적으로 만곡부 안쪽에는 점사주가, 바깥쪽에는 소(pool)가 생성된다. 또한 지형경사의 생성으로 입자에 가해지는 중력효과도 변화된다. 따라서 이와 같은 자연하천의 흐름과 하상변동을 수치모의 하기 위해서는 만곡부 이차류 특성을 고려한 모형이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 수심 적분된 흐름방정식과 하상토 보존방정식 (Exner equation)을 이용한 하상변동을 위한 비연계 수치모형을 위해서 하상토 보존방정식의 유한요소 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 하상토 보존방정식은 흐름 특성에 따른 평형 유사량의 공간변화율을 이용하여 일정 기간 동안의 하상 변화량을 계산한다. 이 때 이차류에 의한 하상 전단응력의 편각 및 지형경사 변화에 따른 실제 입자의 이송방향을 보정하여 평형 유사량이 계산된다. 이러한 보정식을 적용시키기 위해서는 유속성분의 공간변화량 및 지형경사의 공간성분이 필요하다. 유한요소법은 연속성 변수를 이산화시켜 근사해를 구하는 수치기법의 일종이기 때문에, 요소망이 불규칙적으로 구성되었을 경우 임의의 절점에서 연속성을 지닌 변수의 공간변화율을 계산하는데 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 평형 유사량 계산 시에 절점이 아닌 요소 내부에서 평형 유사량을 계산하는, 하상토 보존방정식의 새로운 유한요소 알고리즘을 개발하고, 새로운 알고리즘을 적용시킨 수치모형의 검증을 행하였다. 경계조건 알고리즘의 검증으로 위해서 Soni 등 (1980)이 행한 상류 유입 유사량에 따른 하상변동을 수치 모의하고 실험치와 비교하였으며, Sutmuller와 Glerum (1980)이 수행한 만곡수로에서의 하상변동을 모의하고 실험과 비교하였다. 새로운 알고리즘을 적용시킨 하상토 보존방정식의 유한요소 수치모형의 결과는 매우 안정적이며, 실험과 매우 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 본 수치모델은 현재 균일한 입자의 하상토만을 고려하므로, 입자분급이나 하상 장갑화 현상 등은 무시한다.

Establishment of Ecological Preservation Zone on Uninhabited Island in Goseong-gun and Tongyeong-si, Korea (고성 및 통영 일대 무인도서의 생태보전권역 설정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the ecological presevation zone on uninhabited islands was established based on the setting of geomorphological landscape. The 14 uninhabited islands, which are scattered around the Goseong-gun and Tongyeong-si region have been surveyed on field. As a result of study, uninhabited island of Goseong-gun and Tongyeong-si was classified the absolute preservation areas(I), preservation areas(II), quasi-preservation areas(III), and a available areas(IV). These results evaluated 5 islands of Anjang Island(Maan-do), Bam Island, Saetgaekkeut, Dae Island(Juk-do) and Ttandok Island to be absolute preservation areas(I), the 8 islands of Mana Island, Yuk Island, Nabi Island, Sochi Island, Yongdu-do, Daeho-do, Jam-do, and Hwa-do to be preservation areas(II), the 1 island of Goeam Island to be quasipreservation areas(III). Those islands selected as absolute preservation areas and preservation areas have especially outstanding geomorphological landscape resources, and are expected to be able for use as natural study fields or as outdoor laboratories.
