A Study on the Coverages of Reference Stations of the Differential Global Positioning System Using a Modified Effective Ground Conductivity in the Middle Frequency Band (수정된 유효 대지 도전율을 이용한 위성 항법 보정 시스템(DGPS) 기준국 커버리지에 관한 연구)

  • The prediction of a system coverage is required to install or operate a base station of the differential global positioning system(DGPS). However, the predicted results differ from the measured results when those are analyzed using ITU-R effective ground conductivity values. Thus, in this paper, the coverages of DGPS reference stations are analyzed using the modified effective ground conductivity values. The modified effective ground conductivity is based on the effective ground conductivity of ITU-R and modified to minimize the error between the measured electric fields and the predicted electric fields by using a statistical method. Then, the DGPS system coverages are analyzed by using the modified effective ground conductivity values, and the system stability is verified with a various analysis.

  • GNSS is a satellite-based radio navigation aid. For using it in civil air navigation area, any GNSS service should meet the requirements of accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability in each flight phase established by ICAO. In this study, a remote integrity monitoring system(RIMS) for GNSS are proposed and explained to utilize it in the design of GNSS augmentation system such as GBAS and GRAS. The RIMS consists of signal-in-space receiving subsystem and signal processing subsystem. Each GPS receiver is connected to Host PC by the serial to ethernet converting device which is able to convert serial port connection to LAN port connection in order to exchange information via the internet. We can overcome the siting limitation of GPS receiver and antenna, and reduce signal loses in the cable between GPS antenna and receiver. This system is providing the development environment for GBAS CAT-I system.

  • Satellite-based argumentation systems (SBAS) is a system that enhances the accuracy, integrity, availability and continuity of GNSS navigation users by using geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites to send correction information and the failures of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) satellites in the form of messages. The correction information provided by SBAS is pseudorange error, satellite orbit error, clock error, and ionospheric delay error at 250 bps. Therefore, A lot of message processing are required for the SBAS navigation. There is a need to reduce SBAS time to first fix (TTFF) for using SBAS navigation in systems with short operating time. In this paper, A-SGNSS operation method was proposed for reducing SBAS TTFF. Also, A-SGNSS TTFF and availability were analyzed.

  • This paper presents the results of an integrated navigation performance analysis for selecting the sensor of an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) using Monte Carlo numerical simulation. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) and Doppler velocity log (DVL) are considered to build the integrated navigation system. The position error and price of the sensor are selected as performance indices to evaluate the volunteer integrated navigation systems. Monte-Carlo simulation is introduced to analyze the circular error probability (CEP) and its variance. Simulation results provide the proper sensor combination for integrated navigation in relation to the performance and price.

  • GPS is one of the main navigation systems. In these days, the application scope of GPS is extended to attitude determination using Differential GPS(DGPS) technique and Cycle Ambiguity resolution technique. In this paper, we propose an attitude determination algorithm using Kalman filter through double differenced measurement equation which is not for users with GPS patch antennas, but for users with low-priced GPS receivers. This paper also shows the simulation results and the effectiveness of proposed algorithm.

  • For using Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) in the civil aviation, it should satisfies the Required Navigation Performances(RNPs) which are defined by International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO). RNP defines the required accuracy, integrity, availability, continuity of each flight procedure. In order to guarantee user's integrity, user's protection level has to be overestimated. On the other hand, for improving user's availability, user's protection level has to be estimated tightly. Therefore protection level should be estimated as tight as possible while it assuring the user's integrity. This paper describes the current integrity function of Korean WAD GNSS test bed, and predicts the availability performance of Korean WAD GNSS by simulation.

  • This paper describes the development of a navigation HILS (hardware in the loop simulation) system for an integrated navigation performance analysis of a large diameter unmanned underwater vehicle (LDUUV). The HILS system was used for the performance analysis of the LDUUV. When a conventional HILS system is used, it is not possible to calculate the velocity and position using an inertial navigation system (INS). To cope with this problem, an external acceleration was generated. To evaluate the proposed method, we compare the results of a Monte Carlo simulation and navigation HILS experiment.

  • In recent years, the development of GPS navigation system (GNSS), which has been developed not only by US GPS but also by major countries, is entering its final stage. It is time to change the infrastructure and technology system to correct each satellite system. To do this, we analyze the performance of the differential information provided by National Maritime PNT Office for GLONASS currently operating in its normal orbit, and present the its feasibility.

  • In this paper, we implemented the sign board that is able to display the located based information by adding the GPS module to the board that display the DARC information and user`s message. The global positioning information from GPS module gets more correct by DGPS from DARC module. This information help this system select the located based information for broadcasting. From the experiment, we confirmed that this system displayed user`s data, DARC information data and located based information.
