  • 본 고에서는 최근에 ATM Forum에서 UBR+서비스 카테고리의 진보형으로 제안된 서비스인 보장된 프레임을(Guarranted Frame Rate:GFR) 서비스에 대한 설명과 그의 구현 방안에 대하여 고찰 하였다. 이 GFR 서비스는 패킷 혹은 프레임, 즉 TCP 트래픽을 전송하려는 사용자를 위한 서비스이다.

  • 가상공간의 시각적 렌더링에 있어서 카메라의 위치와 방향에 따라서 현재 보여지고 있는 장면의 복잡도가 달라지게 된다. 단순한 장면과 복잡한 장면이 혼합되어있는 경우에 렌더링의 프레임율이 크게 달라지게 되어서 사용자의 가상공간의 항해에 대한 카메라 이동 시에 끊김 현상이 느껴지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 장면이 복잡도에 크게 의존되지 않으면서 지속적으로 안정된 프레임율을 보장할 수 있는 기여도 컬링 기법을 제시한다. 컬링 기술은 복잡한 장면의 빠른 렌더링을 위해 필수적으로 사용되어왔다. 자연스럽고 빠른 렌더링을 위해 본 논문에서는 이미지 공간에서 모든 객체에 대한 바운딩 사각형의 넓이를 빠르게 계산한다. 영상 영역에서의 계산된 넓이가 작은 객체들을 프레임율을 만족시키도록 렌더링 파이프라인에서 제외시킨다. 전체적으로 기여도가 높은 객체들은 최대한 포함시키기 때문에 렌더링의 질을 보장한다. 복잡한 환경에서의 기여도가 작은 많은 객체들을 배제시킴으로써 속도를 향상시킨다. 실제 대도시의 일정 영역에 제안한 기법을 적용하여 본 결과, 복잡한 장면들이 질적인 저하 없이 균일하고 빠른 렌더링을 보장한다는 것을 보여주었다.

  • This paper proposed a new STM-based media streaming scheme to assure the wireless ad hoc link quality. The proposed scheme can assure the link quality by the stream monitoring, assurance, and update procedure, and it can be monitored the media frame by streaming time $t_{new}$. This paper minimizes the link error rate and re-transmission rate using the media streaming update based on the frame size. The simulation results show thst the proposed scheme outperforms STCP and RMST.

  • In wireless personal area networks(PANs), the successful design of channel time allocation algorithm is a key factor in guaranteeing the various quality of service(QoS) requirements for the stringent real-time constraints of multimedia services. In this paper we propose a dynamic channel time allocation algerian for providing delay guarantees to multimedia traffics such as MPEG streams in the IEEE 802.15.3 high-rate WPANs. The dynamic algorithm exploits the characteristics of MPEG stream, wherein the devices (DEVs) send their channel time requests only at the end of superframe boundaries. The algerian uses mini packets for feedback control in order to deliver dynamic parameters for channel time requests from the DEVs to the piconet coordinator (PNC). In this scheme, the duration of channel time allocated to a DEV during a superframe is changed dynamically depending on the MPEG frame type, traffic load and delay bound of the frame, etc. Performance of the proposed scheme is investigated by simulation. Our results show that compared to traditional scheme, the proposed scheme is very effective and has high performance while guaranteeing the delay bound.

Channel-Adaptive Streaming Scheme to Guarantee Media Quality in Mobile WiMAX (모바일 와이맥스에서 채널 적응적인 미디어 품질 보장 기법)

  • Mobile WiMAX does not guarantee the media qualities because it does not consider the characteristics of video coding techniques. In this paper, PC-MCA(Priority-based Combining adaptive Modulation and Coding with ARQ), a priority based channel-adaptive streaming scheme, is proposed to guarantee media qualities. PC-MCA uses QoS scheduler by scheduling priority of the media and differentially controls modulation and coding schemes according to wireless channel condition and frame priorities. It also guarantees multimedia service quality through video decoding reliability.

  • 본 논문에서는 대역폭이 보장되지 않는 네트워크 상에서 비디오 서비스를 제공하기 위한 매체변환 방법 중 비디오 프레임 크기를 변환시켜 비트율을 효율적으로 제어하는 방법을 제안한다. H.263으로 부호화된 스트림을 DCT 공간에서 크기를 변환시킴으로써 완전 복호화 후 다시 부호화하는 과정에서 생기는 계산량을 대폭 감소시켜 보다 효율적인 방법으로 비트율을 제어할 수 있다. 움직임 정보뿐만 아니라 이전 프레임과의 차이값을 다시 사용하기 위해 크기변환 후 H.263 표준의 향상된 예측 모드 (Advanced Prediction Mode)를 사용하여 화질열화도 최소화한다. 실험결과 화질면에서는 블록화 현상(Block Artifact)이 크게 감소하였고, 프레임이 진행됨에 따라 PSNR은 낮아졌지만, 매체변환은 기존의 방법에 비해 라론 속도로 이루어 질 수 있었다.

  • The Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service has been designed to accomodate non-real-time applications, such as TCP/IP based traffic in ATM networks. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this paper, we propose a cell scheduling scheme which can improve the fairness and the goodput through the traffic control in GFR service. For the evaluation of the proposed scheme, we compare the proposed scheme with the existing scheme in the fairness and the goodput. Simulation results show that proposed scheme can improve the fairness and goodput comparing with the existing buffer management scheme.

Adaptive Video Coding by Wavelet Transform (웨이브렛 변환에 의한 적응적 동영상 부호화)

  • In this paper, picture set filter is proposed for preserving compression ratio and video qualify. This filter controls the compression ratio of each frame depending on the correlation to the reference frame by selectively eliminating less important high-resolution areas. Consequently, video quality can be preserved and bit rate can be controlled adaptively. In the simulation, to test the performance of the proposed coding method, comparisons with the full search block matching algorithm and the differential image coding algorithm are made. In the former case, video quality, compression ratio and encoding time is improved. In the latter case, video quality is degraded, but compression ratio and encoding time is improved. Consequently. the proposed method shows a reasonably good performance over existing ones.

  • In this paper. wavelet transform coding for image conference is studied. Original video frames are transformed into hierarchical pyramidal images with multiresolution using the band property of wavelet transform coefficients. Moving information between neighboring frames is obtained from the low-resolution band. Also, to control the video coding procedure. a new picture set filter is proposed.
