The subjects used in this study were 203 three to five-year-old children who attended kindergarten and deycare center in Seoul and Gyonggido. The research data were collected through the 'Beck Depression Inventory(BDI)', 'Maternal Behavior Research Instrument(MBRI)', 'K-CBCL'. The data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation and Stepwise Multi-Regression. The results of this study indicate that there were significant positive correlations among children's problem behavior, mother's depression, rejective and control parenting behavior. And there were significant negative correlations among children's problem behavior, mother's affectionate and permissive parenting behavior. Also, the mother's depression was the predicted variable that has the most significant relative effect on children's problem behavior. Moreover, the results of this study indicate that rejective parenting behavior that is subordinate factor of parenting behavior was additional predictor of stress.

The subjects of the study were 251 five year old children enrolled in childcare programs located in Seoul & Gyeonggi-do, Korea, the methods for analyzing children's leadership were t-tests, a correlation analysis and the multiple regression analysis which was used to recognize what factor affected the leadership of young children the most. The result of this study was that there was a difference between the sub-factor and leadership of playfulness according to the gender and birth order of young children and whether their mother was working out or not. In other words, there was a difference in the leadership and temperament according to gender and birth order and whether their mother was working out or not. • This study is to provided a basic model to encourage environment and outdoor play programs. The study was based on the analyses of actual activities performed in two child care centers in Daejeon area and the way in which the programs for outdoor play were related to the environment of the centers. Data were collected through 'The Daily Report of the Outdoor Play Programs: Plan and Evaluation' paper conducted at each center performed from 2007 to 2009. Following Mockwha Choi et al., (2007), the play observed and described by teachers was analyzed to classify play areas and play activities within each area. The places, equipment and, playthings using in each play period were also examined as well as the limitation and inspiration caused by the environment. The results of the study are as follows: 1) Empty and unfilled space tended to generate more types of non-structural play and role-pretend play 2)Adventurous play was rarely observed. More thoughtfully designed physical environments need to be provided for children to experience challenge and adventure through physical activities 3) Outdoor play environment should be suitable for the overall developments of infants and toddlers depending on their activities. A child care specialist should support the design such environment 4) Naturally, the programs of outdoor play will not be identical for all child care centers. Rather, they should go along with the programmatic characters and environmental attributes of each center. Therefore the awareness of teachers and parents as to the importance of must realize of outdoor play should be further increased.

Weekly and daily curricula of 18 classes for one and two-year-olds classes (9 for each ages) from childcare centers in D city were collected from Nov. 2009 to February 2010. The results are as following: first, classes for one-year-olds plan 6-25 activities and classes for two-year-olds plan 12-30 activities weekly, with differences in the number of weekly activities according to the childcare centers. The number of weekly activities should be planned considering infants' interest as well as educational continuity of the activities. Second, the investigation of daily activities showed that the routine activities planned for one-year-olds were for total of 310-600 minutes and for two-year-olds 310-540 minutes. Among these, on average of 66% of the time was planned for everyday life such as eating and napping. The rest of time was dedicated to indoor and outdoor free play. However a few centers allocated more time for group activities according to subjects compared to free play. A curriculum composed of group activities ignoring infants' individual developmental differences should not be encouraged. Last, the results of cluster analyses on weekly and daily curricula in terms of the number of activities and time, duration, number of group activities and time showed that curricula for infants could be characterized into two types: "free play" and "group activity" curricula.

The questionnaire with six Korean traditional fairy tales which deal with the sharing problem among the friends and the families was used. The data were analyzed in SPSS Win 10.0 program, by frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, ${\chi}^2$ and t-test. As a result, most important factor in selecting the traditional fairy tale was the title and the editing state of the book for the kindergarten teacher, while it was the good fame of the press for the parent. The congruence existed between parents' and kindergarten teachers' evaluation in knowledge, adaptability for modern times, amusement and empathy in the function of the traditional fairy tales regarding distributive justice. • This study aimed to develop an observation scale for assessing the quality of day care programs and to examine reliability and validity of the scale. Instruments included 3 self-assessment scales, the Evaluation Scale for Early Childhood Programs and an observation scale completed by 8 trained observers in 89 day care sites. Item analysis indicated that most items were acceptable in terms of item discrimination and item response distribution. Cronbach ${\alpha}^{\prime}s$ and inter-observer reliability were relatively high. Validity of the scale was evidenced by correlations between the observation scale and the criterion measure and inter-correlations among sub-areas of the observation scale. Scores on the observation scale were validated by quality ratings from self-assessment scores.

  • This preliminary study aimed to develop 3 assessment scales for self-evaluation by day care directors and teachers. The development of major areas of evaluation and items as well as evaluation criteria for each item was based on the analysis of related research and major evaluation instruments. A panel of experts in early childhood education examined the contents. The 3 preliminary scales were administered in 87 day care centers; data were analyzed by item response distribution, item discrimination, and reliability of the scales. Items indicating low item discrimination were deleted and minor revisions were made to improve psychometric characteristics of each scale. The final version of the 3 scales is valid for use as self-evaluation instruments by day care directors and teachers.
