  • In Korea, traditional paper promissory notes are currently undergoing a transformation, being gradually replaced by electronic notes. This transformation is being steered under the Korea Financial Telecommunications Institute, a trusted authority. However, existing electronic systems have security vulnerabilities, including the risk of hacking and internal errors within the institute. To this end, we have defined a novel anonymous electronic promissory note system based on blockchain. We have constructed a concrete protocol and conducted security analysis of our protocol. Note that, in our protocol, every note information is committed so that the note remains undisclosed until the point of payment. Once the note information becomes public on the blockchain, it enables the detection of illicit activities, such as money laundering and tax evasion. Furthermore, our protocol incorporates a feature of split endorsement, which is a crucial functionality permitted by the Korean electronic note system. Consequently, our proposed protocol is suitable for practical applications in financial transactions.

  • Accountable Internet Protocol (AIP) is one of the future Internet architectures to provide accountability concept by using the self-certifying address that is derived by the public key of the host. In AIP, when a host sends a packet, a domain that is located between the source and the destination hosts discards the packet in order to verify the source IP address. Therefore, performance degradation can occur due to packet discard especially when there is asymmetric route. In this paper, we propose the improved AIP mechanism to verify the source IP address without discarding the packet by including the timestamp, public key value and the signature for protecting from forfeiting the source address. Security safety of the proposed mechanism is evaluated and the proposed mechanism can provide the more robust security as well as reducing the latency due to discarding packets.

  • Increase of data traffic and the advent of new real-time services require to change from the traditional TDM-based (Time Division Multiplexing) networks to the optical networks that soft and dynamic configuration. Voice and lease line services are main service area of the traditional TDM-based networks. This optical network became main infrastructure that offer many channel that can convey data, video, and voice. To provide high resilience against failures, Packet-optical networks must have an ability to maintain an acceptable level of service during network failures. Fast and resource optimized lightpath restoration strategies are urgent requirements for the near future Packet-optical networks with a Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching(GMPLS) control plane. The goal of this paper is to provide packet-optical network with a hierarchical multi-layer recovery in order to fast and coordinated restoration in packet-optical network/GMPLS, focusing on new implementation information. The proposed schemes do not need an extension of optical network signaling (routing) protocols for support.

  • Recently, many domestic and foreign corporates are concentrating in investment to wearable devices and users are provided with various service based on wearable devices 26% more than compared to last year. It is widely used in previous healthcare, smart work, smart home environment, and it is now introduced to get connection to fused service environment. However, as products of G company are commercialized, the security issue of personal information is causing dispute in society, and the danger of data management and security regarding telecommunication is increasing. Also, because the password system used in previous wireless environment is still in use, there are possible vulnerability considering the new and mutant security threat. This thesis conducted study about protocols that can exercise safe telecommunication in the basis of wearable devices. In the registration and certification process, the signature value is created based on the code value. The telecommunication method is designed to conduct safe telecommunication based on the signature value. As for the attack method occurring in the wearable device environment, the safety was analyzed and conducted performance evaluation of previous password system and proposal system, and verified about 14% of efficiency.

  • Many security threats are occurring around the world due to the characteristics of industrial control systems that can cause serious damage in the event of a security incident including major national infrastructure. Therefore, the industrial control system network traffic should be analyzed so that it can identify the attack in advance or perform incident response after the accident. In this paper, we research the visualization technique as network forensics to enable reasonable suspicion of all possible attacks on DNP3 control system protocol, and define normal action based rules and derive visualization requirements. As a result, we developed a visualization tool that can detect sudden network traffic changes such as DDoS and attacks that contain anormal behavior from captured packet files on industrial control system network. The suspicious behavior in the industrial control system network can be found using visualization tool with Digital Bond packet.

  • mVoIP (mobile Voice over Internet Protocol) service is a technology to transmit voice data through an IP network using mobile device. mVoIP provides various supplementary services with low communication cost. It can maximize the availability and efficiency by using IP-based network resources. In addition, the users can use voice call service at any time and in any place, as long as they can access the Internet on mobile device easily. However, SIP on mobile device is exposed to IP-based attacks and threats. Observed cyber threats to SIP services include wiretapping, denial of service, and service misuse, VoIP spam which are also applicable to existing IP-based networks. These attacks are also applicable to SIP and continuously cause problems. In this study, we analysis the threat and vulnerability on mVoIP service and propose several possible attack scenarios on existing mobile VoIP devices. Based on a proposed analysis and vulnerability test mechanism, we can construct more enhanced SIP security mechanism and stable mobile VoIP service framework after eliminating its vulnerability on mobile telephony system.

  • An ad hoc network is a system of wireless mobile nodes that dynamically self-organize in arbitrary and temporary network topologies allowing people and devices to internetwork without any preexisting communication infrastructure. Although ad hoc network is attractive solution, there are still some major flaws that prevent commercial growth. Security is one of these main barriers; ad hoc networks are known to be particularly vulnerable to security attack. It is difficult to establish a centralized key distribution center and a trusted certification authority to provide cryptographic keys and digital certificates to nodes. To prevent attacks in ad hoc routing protocols, many algorithms have been used. In this paper, we have depicted a secure framework for multipath routing in wireless multihop network, which is comprehensive solution for secure data forwarding in wireless multihop networks. With the simulation results, the proposed scheme is compared with existing source routing scheme.

  • As the developments of smart devices and social network services, the amount of data has been exploding. The world is facing Big data era. For these reasons, the Big data processing technology which is a new technology that can handle such data has attracted much attention. One of the most representative technologies is Hadoop. Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS) designed to run on commercial Linux server is an open source framework and can store many terabytes of data. The initial version of Hadoop did not consider security because it only focused on efficient Big data processing. As the number of users rapidly increases, a lot of sensitive data including personal information were stored on HDFS. So Hadoop announced a new version that introduces Kerberos and token system in 2009. However, this system is vulnerable to the replay attack, impersonation attack and other attacks. In this paper, we analyze these vulnerabilities of HDFS security and propose a new protocol which complements these vulnerabilities and maintains the performance of Hadoop.
