The image intensifier tube that is clinically used gets changed depending on its terms of use. As the brightness gets deteriorated and the performance gets decrease, the X-ray output needs to be increased to maintain the identical diagnosis outcome. As a consequence, the patients are exposed to the increased radiation. Since not many accurate studies have been made, this study measured the conversion factor and resolution depending on the use of the devices that were currently used in Korea. When comparison was made with a device with less than 1 year-use, the conversion factor of a device with 6 year-use got decreased up to 25% while its resolution was reduced from 3.4 lp/mm to 2.5 lp/mm. Such outcome highlights the necessary measures to be supplemented as the increased terms of use implied also the increased radiation exposure among the patients as well as difficulty to conduct an accurate exam.

This paper presents optimized searching technique to improve the performance of H.264/AVC. By using the proposed forward and backward searching algorithm, redundant cycles of latency for data reordering can be removed. Furthermore, in order to reduce the total number of execution cycles of CAVLC encoder, early termination mode and two stage pipelined architecture are proposed. The experimental result shows that the proposed architecture needs only 36.0 cycles on average for each $16{\times}16$ macroblock encoding. The proposed architecture improves the performance by 57.8% than that of previous designs. The proposed CAVLC encoder was implemented using Verilog HDL and synthesized with Magnachip $0.18{\mu}m$ standard cell library. The synthesis result shows that the gate count is about 17K with 125Mhz clock frequency.

This paper proposes an image compression method using the wavelet transform and bit-plane coding of wavelet coefficients. The hierarchical application of wavelet transform to an image produces one low resoluation(the subband with lowest frequency) image and several high frequency subbands. In the proposed method, the low resolution image is compressed by a lossless method at 8 bits per each coefficient. However, the high frequency subbands are decomposed into 8 bit planes. With an adptive block coding method, the decomposed bit planes are effectively compressed using localized edge information in each bit plane. In addition, the propsoed method can control bit rates by selectively eliminating lessimportant subbands of low significant bit planes. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme has better performance in the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and compression rate than conventional image coding methods using the wavelet transform and vector quantization.

In this paper. we Propose the noise suppressor with the Perceptual model and wavelet packet transform. The objective is to enhance speech corrupted colored or non-stationary noise. If corrupted noise is colored. subband approach would be more efficient than whole band one. To avoid serious residual noise and speech distortion, we must adjust the Wavelet Coefficient Threshold (WCT). In this Paper. the subband is designed matching with the critical band and WCT is adapted noise masking threshold (NMT) and segmental signal to noise ratio (seg_SNR). Consequently. it has similar Performance with EVRC in PESQ-MOS. But it's better than wavelet packet transform using universal threshold about 0.289 in PESQ-MOS. The important thing is that it's more useful than EVRC in coded speech. In coded speech. PESQ-MOS is higher than EVRC about 0.23.
The objective of this study is to determine Tasseled Cap Transformation (TCT) coefficients for the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI). TCT is traditional method of analyzing the characteristics of the land area from multi spectral sensor data. TCT coefficients for a new sensor must be estimated individually because of different sensor characteristics of each sensor. Although the primary objective of the GOCI is for ocean color study, one half of the scene covers land area with typical land observing channels in Visible-Near InfraRed (VNIR). The GOCI has a unique capability to acquire eight scenes per day. This advantage of high temporal resolution can be utilized for detecting daily variation of land surface. The GOCI TCT offers a great potential for application in near-real time analysis and interpretation of land cover characteristics. TCT generally represents information of "Brightness", "Greenness" and "Wetness". However, in the case of the GOCI is not able to provide "Wetness" due to lack of ShortWave InfraRed (SWIR) band. To maximize the utilization of high temporal resolution, "Wetness" should be provided. In order to obtain "Wetness", the linear regression method was used to align the GOCI Principal Component Analysis (PCA) space with the MODIS TCT space. The GOCI TCT coefficients obtained by this method have different values according to observation time due to the characteristics of geostationary earth orbit. To examine these differences, the correlation between the GOCI TCT and the MODIS TCT were compared. As a result, while the GOCI TCT coefficients of "Brightness" and "Greenness" were selected at 4h, the GOCI TCT coefficient of "Wetness" was selected at 2h. To assess the adequacy of the resulting GOCI TCT coefficients, the GOCI TCT data were compared to the MODIS TCT image and several land parameters. The land cover classification of the GOCI TCT image was expressed more precisely than the MODIS TCT image. The distribution of land cover classification of the GOCI TCT space showed meaningful results. Also, "Brightness", "Greenness", and "Wetness" of the GOCI TCT data showed a relatively high correlation with Albedo ($R^2$ = 0.75), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) ($R^2$ = 0.97), and Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI) ($R^2$ = 0.77), respectively. These results indicate the suitability of the GOCI TCT coefficients.
In this paper, we propose a novel blind digital watermarking method based on a cellular automata transform (CAT). CAT is based on dynamic systems known as cellular automata(CA) and uses transform bases which are differently defined by a rule number, the number of neighbors, the number of cells, and an initial state, etc. The proposed CAT based method is compared with a blind watermarking method based on DWT which is commonly used for a domain transform in signal processing. We analyse properties on changes of DWT coefficients and CAT coefficients under various attacks and determine optimal parameters for a watermarking method robust to attacks. The simulations show that the watermarked images with high PSNR and MSSIM look visually identical to originals and are robust against most of typical image processing attacks. Moreover, the proposed CAT based watermarking method is superior to the DWT based one in robustness to most of typical image processing attacks including JPEG compression, median and average filtering, scaling, cropping, and histogram equalization.

Purpose: There are differences between Standard Uptake Value (SUV) of CT attenuation corrected PET and that of $^{137}Cs$. Since various causes lead to difference of SUV, it is important to know what is the cause of these difference. Since only the X-ray CT and $^{137}Cs$ transmission data are used for the attenuation correction, in Philips GEMINI PET/CT scanner, proper transformation of these data into usable attenuation coefficients for 511 keV photon has to be ascertained. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy in the CT measurement and compare the CT and $^{137}Cs$-based attenuation correction in this scanner. Methods: For all the experiments, CT was set to 40 keV (120 kVp) and 50 mAs. To evaluate the accuracy of the CT measurement, CT performance phantom was scanned and Hounsfield units (HU) for those regions were compared to the true values. For the comparison of CT and $^{137}Cs$-based attenuation corrections, transmission scans of the elliptical lung-spine-body phantom and electron density CT phantom composed of various components, such as water, bone, brain and adipose, were performed using CT and $^{137}Cs$. Transformed attenuation coefficients from these data were compared to each other and true 511 keV attenuation coefficient acquired using $^{68}Ge$ and ECAT EXACT 47 scanner. In addition, CT and $^{137}Cs$-derived attenuation coefficients and SUV values for $^{18}F$-FDG measured from the regions with normal and pathological uptake in patients' data were also compared. Results: HU of all the regions in CT performance phantom measured using GEMINI PET/CT were equivalent to the known true values. CT based attenuation coefficients were lower than those of $^{68}Ge$ about 10% in bony region of NEMA ECT phantom. Attenuation coefficients derived from $^{137}Cs$ data was slightly higher than those from CT data also in the images of electron density CT phantom and patients' body with electron density. However, the SUV values in attenuation corrected images using $^{137}Cs$ were lower than images corrected using CT. Percent difference between SUV values was about 15%. Conclusion: Although the HU measured using this scanner was accurate, accuracy in the conversion from CT data into the 511 keV attenuation coefficients was limited in the bony region. Discrepancy in the transformed attenuation coefficients and SUV values between CT and $^{137}Cs$-based data shown in this study suggests that further optimization of various parameters in data acquisition and processing would be necessary for this scanner.

Parameters of failure criteria, compressive strength and elastic modulus are most important for design and stability analysis of rock structure using numerical analysis. In this study, it suggests that the application of input data for numerical analysis by the literature study and the result of the 150 sets of triaxial compressive test. There was much different between parameters of failure criterion suggested by Hoek-Brown and parameters resulted from the analysis using 150 sets of triaxial compressive test. But the converting equations of compressive strength have had an interrelation with RMR. However, the converting of elastic of elastic modulus were different as chosen of equation, and the equation by Nicholson et at was more useful than others.
