  • The purpose of this study is to derive major topics in content R&D and provide directions for academic development by exploring research trends over the past 20 years using topic modeling targeting 9,858 papers published in the Journal of the Korean Contents Association. To secure the reliability and validity of the extracted topics, not only the quantitative evaluation technique but also the qualitative technique were applied step-by-step and repeated until a corpus of the level agreed upon by the researchers was generated, and detailed analysis procedures were presented accordingly. As a result of the analysis, 8 core topics were extracted. This shows that the Korean Contents Association is publishing convergence and complex research papers in various fields without limiting to a specific academic field. Also, before 2012, the proportion of topics in the field of engineering and technology appeared relatively high, while after 2012, the proportion of topics in the field of social sciences appeared relatively high. Specifically, the topic of 'social welfare' showed a fourfold increase in the second half compared to the first half. Through topic-specific trend analysis, we focused on the turning point in time at which the inflection point of the trend line appeared, explored the external variables that affected the research trend of the topic, and identified the relationship between the topic and the external variable. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide implications for active discussions in domestic content-related R&D and industrial fields.

  • The operational modal analysis (OMA) technique, which extracts the modal parameters of a structural system using ambient vibrations, has been actively developed as a field of structural health monitoring of cable-supported bridges. In this paper, the short and long-term modal parameters of a cable-stayed bridge were evaluated using the acceleration data obtained from the two ambient vibration tests (AVTs) and three years of continuous measurements. A total of 27 vertical modes and 1 lateral mode in the range 0.1 ~ 2.5 Hz were extracted from the high-resolution AVTs which were conducted in the 6th and 19th years after its completion. Existing OMA methods such as Peak-Picking (PP), Eigensystem Realization Algorithm with Data Correlation (ERADC), Frequency Domain Decomposition (FDD) and Time Domain Decomposition (TDD) were applied for modal parameters extraction, and it was confirmed that there was no significant difference between the applied methods. From the correlation analysis between long-term natural frequencies and environmental factors, it was confirmed that temperature change is the dominant factor influencing natural frequency fluctuations. It was revealed that the decreased natural frequencies of the bridge were not due to changes in structural performance and integrity, but to the environmental effects caused by the temperature difference between the two AVTs. In addition, when the TDD technique is applied, the accuracy of extracted mode shapes is improved by adding a proposed algorithm that normalizes the sequence so that the autocorrelations at zero lag equal 1.

  • In this paper, we design a self-powered Arduino system for solar energy harvesting and explain its operation. To perform the operation, the Arduino system senses the amount of solar energy that changes every moment and adjusts the ratio of the active mode and sleep mode operation time according to a given solar light intensity. If the intensity of sunlight is strong enough, the Arduino system can be continuously driven in active mode and receive sufficient power from sunlight. If not, the system can run in sleep mode to minimize power consumption. As a result, it can be seen that energy consumption can be minimized by reducing power consumption by up to 81.7% when using sleep mode compared to continuously driving active mode. Also, when the light intensity is at an intermediate level, the ratio between the active mode and the sleep mode is appropriately adjusted according to the light intensity to operate. The method of self-control of the operating time ratio of active mode and sleep mode, proposed in this paper, is thought to be helpful in energy-efficient operation of the self-powered systems for wearables and bio-health applications.

  • In this study, effects of the psychological characteristics of office workers and start-up preparation on entrepreneurship intention by mediating entrepreneurial opportunity recognition were analyzed. As sub-variables of psychological characteristics, desire for economic achievement, self-fulfillment, and risk-taking tendencies were classified. The collected 357 questionnaires, SPSS v24.0 and Process macro 3.5 were used for empirical analysis. As a result, first, it was showed that self-fulfillment and start-up preparation had a positive (+) effect on entrepreneurial intention, and the effect of desire for economic achievement and risk-taking tendencies on entrepreneurial intention was not significant. Second, it was confirmed that psychological characteristics and start-up preparation had a significant positive (+) effect on the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. Third, it was found that the effect of the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition on the entrepreneurial intention was significant in the positive (+) direction. Fourth, entrepreneurial opportunity recognition was tested as mediating the psychological characteristics of workers, start-up preparation and entrepreneurial intention. As a follow-up study, it is recommended that studies to analyze moderated mediating effects by the conditional process model including moderating variables and to discover the third mediator other than a mediator used in the research should be conducted.

  • This study was conducted to present implications for mathematics education by identifying the structural relationship among personality, negative emotion, motivation, and career maturity that affects elementary school student's mathematical academic achievement. The participants conveniently sampled 179 students, from 4th to 6th graders enrolled in the same elementary school, and data on their psychological variables were collected in the form of secondary data. The hypothetical structural equation model established based on prior studies was verified with a two-stage approach based on the collected data. It was confirmed that construct validity and construct reliability were secured through assessing the measurement model. In addition, as a result of analyzing the path coefficient of the final structural equation model, five paths were found to be significant: 'personality→motivation', 'personality→career maturity', 'negative emotion→motivation', and 'negative motivation→mathematical academic achievement'. In particular, the path of 'negative emotion→negative motivation→mathematics academic achievement' that can be confirmed through the results needs to moderate negative emotions to improve mathematical academic achievement, and at this time, negative motivation should be considered together.

  • Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) exhibits three polymorphs: calcite with arhombohedral, vaterite with a spherical, and aragonite with a needle-like structure. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the morphology of CaCO3 are very important to investigate the synthesis of single-crystal vaterite and aragonite. In this work, the polymorphs of calcium carbonate were quantitatively analyzed using XRD. Pure vaterite and pure aragonite were synthesized and the peak distribution of a single phase was analyzed. The vaterite fraction of a mixture of calcite and vaterite was calculated based on the intensity of a specific diffraction peak, and compared to the results based on the peak area. The mean value of fsV (the correction factor for the peak area of vaterite) was 0.654. The phase analysis of calcite-aragonite mixtures was performed, and the mean value of fsA (the correction factor for the peak area of aragonite) was obtained as 0.6713. Using these factors, Eq. (24)~Eq. (32) for the quantitative analysis based on the total peak area of XRD were derived to calculate the phase contents of ternary phase CaCO3. And three-component XRD section was defined considering overlapping sections.

  • The active sonar transmission system consists of a transmitter that outputs an electrical signal and an underwater acoustic transducer that converts the amplified electrical signal into an acoustic signal. In general, the transmitter output characteristics are dependent on load impedance, and an underwater acoustic transducer, which is a transmitter load, has a characteristic that the electrical impedance varies largely according to frequency when driven. In such a variable impedance condition, the output of the active sonar transmission system may become unstable. Hence, this paper proposes a design and control technique of a sonar transmitter for transmitting a stable transmission signal even under variable impedance conditions of an underwater acoustic transducer in an active sonar transmission system. The electrical impedance characteristics of the underwater acoustic transducer are experimentally analyzed, and the sonar transmitter is composed of a single-phase full-bridge inverter, an LC filter, and a matching circuit. In this paper, the design and output control method of the sonar transmitter is proposed to protect the transmitter and transducer. It can secure stable output voltage characteristics even if it transmits the Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) signal. The validity is verified through the simulation and the experiment.

  • The repeated monthly or weekly subculture of plant callus is labor intensive and increases the risk of somaclonal variation from the parental callus line. The most effective method for preserving plant callus is cryopreservation, which involves storage in liquid nitrogen. However, this method cannot be applied to the callus of different plant species in the same manner, so it is difficult to develop a standardized cryopreservation method. In addition, the survival rate of the frozen callus after thawing and the regeneration rate after survival are uncertain. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method to extend the subculture interval of plant callus in an active state. In this study, active plant calli of various species without freezing was incubated at 15℃ for 4 to 12 weeks without subculture. After 12 weeks, 8 lines of plant callus grew less than 2-fold when cultured at 25℃, but at least 2 times as much when cultured at 15℃. Moreover, total antioxidant activity did not differ significantly between plant callus recovered at 25℃ after culturing at 15℃ or at 25℃. These results show that the subculture interval can be extended at a temperature of 15℃ without need for modified medium composition or additional processes. In addition, positive results in all calli of several plant species are expected to reduce labor as well as somaclonal variation by increasing the subculture.
