Shield TBM trouble cases review and parameter study for the cause analysis (쉴드 TBM 트러블 사례 및 매개변수 연구를 통한 원인 분석)

  • Shield TBM tunneling, used in the construction of Seoul subway line 7 and line 9, has been well known as a very efficient, as well as safe, tunneling method. Although the Shield TBM method has been known to be effectively used in poor ground conditions, a number of troubles have occurred during the use of the shield TBM, due to inappropriate machine selection, machine breakdown, and unpredicted ground conditions etc. In this study, several accidents and trouble cases occurred during excavation by Shield TBM, reported from Japan, were investigated. A series of numerical analysis was then performed to compare with the trouble cases and back-analysis results for the cause analysis. The lessons learned from the case studies are presented at the end.

Automatic Generation of 3D Face Model from Trinocular Images (Trinocular 영상을 이용한 3D 얼굴 모델 자동 생성)

  • This paper proposes an efficient method for 3D modeling of a human face from trinocular images by reconstructing face surface using range data. By using a trinocular camera system, we mitigated the tradeoff between the occlusion problem and the range resolution limitation which is the critical limitation in binocular camera system. We also propose an MPC_MBS (Matching Pixel Count Multiple Baseline Stereo) area-based matching method to reduce boundary overreach phenomenon and to improve both of accuracy and precision in matching. In this method, the computing time can be reduced significantly by removing the redundancies. In the model generation sub-pixel accurate surface data are achieved by 2D interpolation of disparity values, and are sampled to make regular triangular meshes. The data size of the triangular mesh model can be controlled by merging the vertices that lie on the same plane within user defined error threshold.

  • Generally, traditional approaches to track the target position are to estimate ranges and bearings by 2-D MUSIC (MUltiple 519na1 Classification) method. and to associate estimates of 2-D MUSIC made at different time points with the right targets by JPDA (Joint Probabilistic Data Association) filter in the near field. However, the disadvantages of these approaches are that these have the data association Problem in tracking multiple targets. and that these require the heavy computational load in estimating a 2-D range/bearing spectrum. In case multiple targets are adjacent. the tracking performance degrades seriously because the estimate of each target's Position has a large error. In this paper, we proposed a new tracking algorithm using Position innovations extracted from the senor output covariance matrix in the near field. The proposed algorithm is demonstrated by the computer simulations dealing with the tracking of multiple closing and crossing targets.

Estimation of Drone Velocity with Sum of Absolute Difference between Multiple Frames (다중 프레임의 SAD를 이용한 드론 속도 측정)

  • Drones are highly utilized because they can efficiently acquire long-distance videos. In drone operation, the speed, which is the magnitude of the velocity, can be set, but the moving direction cannot be set, so accurate information about the drone's movement should be estimated. In this paper, we estimate the velocity of the drone moving at a constant speed and direction. In order to estimate the drone's velocity, the displacement of the target frame to minimize the sum of absolute difference (SAD) of the reference frame and the target frame is obtained. The ground truth of the drone's velocity is calculated using the position of a certain matching point over all frames. In the experiments, a video was obtained from the drone moving at a constant speed at a height of 150 meters. The root mean squared error (RMSE) of the estimated velocities in x and y directions and the RMSE of the speed were obtained showing the reliability of the proposed method.

  • Tension tests for copper thin films with thickness of $12{\mu}m$ were performed by using a digital image correlation method based on consecutive digital images. When calculating deformation using digital image correlation, a large deformation causes errors in the calculated result. In this study, the calculation procedure was improved to reduce the error, so that the full field deformation and the strain of the specimen could be accurately and directly measured on its surface. From the calculated result, it can be seen that the strain distribution is not uniform and its variation is severe, unlike the distribution in a common bulk specimen. This might result from the surface roughness introduced in the films during the fabrication process by electro-deposition.

  • In LED chip packaging, die bonding is a very important process which fixes the LED chip on the lead frame to provide enough strength for the next process. Conventional pick-up device of the die bonder is simply operated by up and down motion of a collet and an ejector pin. However, this method may cause undesired problems such as position misalignment and/or severe die damage when the pick-up device reaches the die. In this study, to minimize the position alignment error and die damage, a die bonder is developed by adopting a new pick-up head for precise alignment and high speed feeding. To evaluate structural stability of the designed system, required finite element model of the die bonder is generated, and structural analysis is performed. Vibration analysis of the pick-up head is also performed using developed finite element model at operation frequency range. As a result of the analysis, deformation, stress, and natural frequency of the die bonder are investigated.

  • As for the battery package method, a prismatic package method is preferred for stability reasons, but it is rapidly expanding due to the stability verification of a pouch type package. The pouch type using the lamination process has an advantage of high battery energy density because it can reduce space waste, but has a disadvantage of low productivity. Therefore, in this paper, by extracting edge detection algorithm precision, pattern algorithm precision, and motion controller recall rate by improving backlight lighting fixtures to minimize light diffusion, securing standards for stereo camera position relationship displacement monitoring, and securing standards for lens release monitoring. We propose to implement a system that ensures accuracy and reliability in positioning. As a result of the experiment, the proposed system shows an average error range of 0.032mm for edge detection, 0.02mm for pattern algorithm, and 0.014mm for motion controller, thus ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the positioning mechanism.

A study on the correlation of the structural integrity's reduction factors using parametric analysis (매개변수 해석을 이용한 구조물 건전도 저감 영향인자 상관성 연구)

  • In order to evaluate the impact of ground subsidence and superstructures that are inevitably caused by tunnel excavation, a total of seven major influencing factors of surface subsidence and structural soundness reduction were set, and a Parameter Study using numerical analysis was conducted. Stability analysis was performed using scheme of Boscardin and Cording method and the maximum subsidence amount and the angular displacement, and correlation analysis was performed for each major influencing factor. In addition, it was applied that used the mutual behavior of the ground and the structure by parameter analysis in the site of the 𐩒𐩒𐩒 tunnel located in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, and the applicability of the site was analyzed. As a result, the error was found to be 1.0%, and it could be used as a basic material for determining the appropriate tunnel route under various conditions when evaluating the stability of the structure according to tunnel excavating at the design stage.

  • In this paper, the structural-thermal-optical performance analysis of the mirror was performed by setting the laser heat source as the boundary condition of the thermal analysis. For the laser heat source model, the Beer-Lambert model considering semi-transparent optical material based on Gaussian beam was selected as the boundary condition, and the mechanical part was not considered, to analyze the performance of only the mirror. As a result of the thermal analysis, thermal stress and thermal deformation data due to temperature change on the surface of the mirror were obtained. The displacement data of the surface due to thermal deformation was fitted to a Zernike polynomial to calculate the optical performance, through which the performance of the mirror when a high-energy laser was incident on the mirror could be predicted.

  • A core procedure of the direct search method used in this study is optimizing a difference between objective function and real displacement and correcting unknown variables. Because the research procedure comes from back-analyzing of the unknown variable of each layer, back-analyzing results need an additional optimization to minimize interferential effects of unknown variables. Therefore, the direct search method Is used to obtain optimized solutions without a partial differentiation of an objective function. The object of this research is developing the back analysis technique for multi-unknown variables by modeling the soil including underground structure Into upper and lower layer. In order to minimize interferent errors, repeated back analysis is performed and applicability on the real tunnel is examined. Consequently, the multi-layer analysis model is more precise in describing the real behavior of underground structure. It shows the validity of back analysis far multi-layer model which is the understructure placed on multi-layer boundaries.
