Vectorization of an Explicit Finite Element Method on Memory-to-Memory Type Vector Computer (Memory-to-Memory방식 벡터컴퓨터에서의 외연적 유한요소법의 벡터화)

  • An explicit finite element method can be executed more rapidly and effectively on vector computer than on the scalar computer because it has suitable structures for vector processing. In this paper, an efficient vectorization method of the explicit finite element program on the memory-to-memory type vector computer is proposed. First, the general vectorization method which can be applied regardless of the vector architecture is investigated, then the method which is suitable for the memory-to-memory type vector computer is proposed. To illustrate the usefulness of the proposed vectorization method, DYNA3D, the existing explicit finite element program, is migrated on HDS AS/XL V50 which is the memory-to-memory type vector computer. Performance results on actual test show a vector/scalar speedup is above 2.4.

교류기의 벡터제어방식

  • 벡터제어방식에 의하면 유도전동기는 거의 완전한 보상권선을 갖는 직류기라고 볼 수 있다. 파와트랜지스터를 이용할만한 소용량영역에서는 제어용 드라이브 시스템으로서 유도전동기에 확고한 위치를 굳혀 줄 수가 있다. 물론 전동기.검축기.콘트로라가 일체로 되어 성능향상이 뒤 따라야 할 것이다. 또한 대용량영역에서는 형상의 다이리스터 인버어터를 실용적인 수준에서 다상화 또는 다중화하면 거의 이상적인 교류기 가변속시스템을 얻을 수 있음을 위 설명에서 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 본고에서는 유도전동기에 대하여만 설명하였으나 벡터제어는 동기전동기에서도 가능하며 또한 중요함을 부기한다. 이 벡터제어에 관한 연구는 국내외에서 활발하며 멀지 않은 장래에 가변소제어에 직류전동기 대신 벡터제어를 하는 교류기가 많이 이용될 것을 기대한다.

A Design of a Robust Vector Quantizer for Wavelet Transformed Images (웨이브렛벤환 영상 부호화용 범용 벡터양자화기의 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a new design method for a robust vector quantizer that is independent of the statistical characteristics of input images in the wavelet transformed image coding. The conventional vector quantizers have failed to get quality coding results because of the different statistical properties between the image to be quantized and the training sequence for a codebook of the vector quantizer. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, we used a pseudo image as a training sequence to generate a codebook of the vector quantizer; the pseudo image is created by adding correlation coefficient and edge components to uniformly distributed random numbers. We will clearly define the problem of the conventional vector quantizers, which use real images as a training sequence to generate a codebook used, by comparing the conventional methods with the proposed through computer simulation. Also, we will show the proposed vector quantizer yields better coding results.

Feature-Vector Normalization for SVM-based Music Genre Classification (SVM에 기반한 음악 장르 분류를 위한 특징벡터 정규화 방법)

  • In this paper, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC), Decorrelated Filter Bank (DFB), Octave-based Spectral Contrast (OSC), Zero-Crossing Rate (ZCR), and Spectral Contract/Roll-Off are combined as a set of multiple feature-vectors for the music genre classification system based on the Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. In the conventional system, feature vectors for the entire genre classes are normalized for the SVM model training and classification. However, in this paper, selected feature vectors that are compared based on the One-Against-One (OAO) SVM classifier are only used for normalization. Using OSC as a single feature-vector and the multiple feature-vectors, we obtain the genre classification rates of 60.8% and 77.4%, respectively, with the conventional normalization method. Using the proposed normalization method, we obtain the increased classification rates by 8.2% and 3.3% for OSC and the multiple feature-vectors, respectively.

  • 컴퓨터 시스템의 프로세스 종류는 크게 벡터 시스템과 스칼라 시스템의 두 가지 방식으로 나눌 수 있다. 이는 명령어 처리 방식을 구분한 것으로서 벡터 시스템은 명령어의 처리를 벡터 파이프라인 방식으로 수행한다. 이러한 벡터 시스템은 일반 명령어를 처리할 때는 명령어 실행을 벡터화하여 처리하기 때문에 속도가 향상되지만 반면에 컴파일을 수행할 때는 일반 명령 처리장치에서 스칼라 형태로 처리되기 때문에 그 처리 속도가 저하된다. 이러한 벡터 시스템에서의 컴파일 속도를 개선하기 위하여 별도의 크로스 컴파일러를 사용하는데, 이 때 별도의 크로스 컴파일 서버의 사용을 자동화하여 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 벡터 방식은 주로 Cray, NEC, Fujitsu 등의 컴퓨터에 채용하고 있으며 현재 KISTI에서 보유하고 있는 NEC 컴퓨터는 벡터 시스템이다. 본 연구는 크로스 컴파일러 서버를 구축하고 이 서버를 이용하여 자동적으로 크로스 컴파일을 함으로서 사용자는 기존의 일반 컴파일 방식과 동일하게 이용할 수 있기 때문에 사용하기 편리하고 NEC 메인 시스템에 부하를 주지 않으면서 컴파일 속도의 성능 향상을 가져오는 구성 방법을 제시한다.

Object-based Stereo Sequence Coding using Disparity and Motion Vector Relationship (변이-움직임 벡터의 상관관계를 이용한 객체기반 스테레오 동영상 부호화)

  • In this paper, we propose an object-based stereo sequence compression technique using disparity-motion vector relationship. The proposed method uses the coherence of motion vectors and disparity vectors in the left and right Image sequences. After two motion vectors and one disparity vector ate computed using FBMA(Fixed Block Matching Algorithm), the disparity vector of the current stereoscopic pall is computed by disparity-motion vector relationship with vectors which are previously estimated. Moreover, a vector regularization technique is applied in order to obtain reliable vectors. For an object-based coding. the object is defined and coded in terms of layers of VOP such as in MPEG-4. we present a method using disparity and motion vector relationship for extending two-frame compensation into three-frame compensation method for prediction coding of B-VOP. The proposed algorithm shows a high performance when comparing with a conventional method.

Optimization of CVQ codebook index for noisy channels (잡음이 존재하는 채널에서 이용되는 분류 벡터 양자화 코드북의 인덱스할당기법)

  • Abstract In this paper, an improved index assignment procedure is proposed to reduce the channel error effect in a communication system employing classified vector quantization(CVQ). The proposed algorithm consists of two parts: inner index assignment (IIA) and cross index assignment (CIA). The II A reduces the distortion resulting from the error in order bits, presenting the identity of each code vector in a subcodebook. The CIA modifies the indexes assigned by the IIA in such a way that the effect of the channel error occurring in class bits, indicating the class information of the code vector, can be minimized. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms enable a reliable communication over noisy channels even without employing the channel encoding.   • 본 논문에서는 2상 유도전동기의 가변속장치인 3-레그 2상 인버터의 PWM 방식을 공간벡터제어 방식으로 제안하였다. 기존의 3-레그 인버터의 PWM방식은 전형적인 SVPWM 방식을 적용하여 PWM 방식이 복잡하다. 본 논문에서는 3상 PWM 옵셋전압방식을 응용하여 2상 인버터에 적용하여 기존의 공간 벡터(space vector) PWM(SVPWM) 방식방식을 단순화 시킨 것이다. 제안된 3-레그 인버터의 PWM방식에 대한 타당성을 확인하기 위해 모의 실험과 실험이 실행되었다.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel soft output generation method for spatially multiplexed MIMO systems. The receiver complexity of spatially mutiplexed MIMO system is in proportion to the number of candidate vectors. The ML signal detection method considers all possible vectors as candidates, thereby achieving a high performance, however, its complexity is very high. Low complexity receiver techniques involving a small number of candidate vectors, provide soft output values of low reliability. In this paper, we propose a method to improve reliability of the soft output values obtained using a small number of candidate vectors.

Design of High Performance Robust Vector Quantizer for Wavelet Transformed Image Coding (웨이브렛 변환 영상 부호화용 고성능 범용 벡터양자화기의 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of designing the vector quantizer which is robustness to coding results and independent of statistical characteristics of an input image in wavelet transformed image coding processes. The most critical drawback of a conventional vector quantizer is the degradation of coding capability resulted from the discordance between quantizer objective image and statistical characteristics of training sequence which is for generating representing vector. In order to resolve the problem of conventional methods, we use independent random-variables and pseudo image to which image correlation and edge component were added, as a training sequence for generating representing vector. We have done a computer simulation in order to compare coding capability between a vector quantizer designed by the proposed method and one with the conventional method using real image as same as that is objective to coding of training sequence used in codebook generation. The results show the superiority of the proposed vector quantizer method at the aspect of coding capability compared to conventional one. They also clarify the problems of conventional methods.
