An Energy-Efficient and Destination-Sequenced Routing Algorithm by a Sink Node in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서의 싱크 노드에 의한 에너지 효율적인 목적지-순서적 라우팅 알고리즘)

  • A sensor network is composed of a large number of tiny devices, scattered and deployed in a specified regions. Each sensing device has processing and wireless communication capabilities, which enable it to gather information from the sensing area and to transfer report messages to a base station. The energy-efficient routing paths are established when the base station requests a query, since each node has several characteristics such as low-power, constrained energy, and limited capacity. The established paths are recovered while minimizing the total transmit energy and maximizing the network lifetime when the paths are broken. In this paper, we propose a routing algorithm that each sensor node reports its adjacent link information to the sink node when a sink node broadcasts a query. The sink node manages the total topology and establishes routing paths. This algorithm has a benefit to find an alternative path by reducing the negotiating messages for establishing paths when the established paths are broken. To reduce the overhead of collection information, each node has a link information before reporting to the sink. Because the node recognizes which nodes are adjacent. The proposed algorithm reduces the number of required messages, because sensor nodes receive and report routing messages for establishment at the beginning of configuring routing paths, since each node keeps topology information to establish a routing path, which is useful to report sensing tasks in monitoring environments.

An Efficient Location Encoding Method Based on Hierarchical Administrative District (계층적 행정 구역에 기반한 효율적인 위치 정보 표현 방식)

  • Due to the rapid development in mobile communication technologies, the usage of mobile devices such as cell phone or PDA becomes increasingly popular. As different devices require different applications, various new services are being developed to satisfy the needs. One of the popular services under heavy demand is the Location-based Service (LBS) that exploits the spatial information of moving objects per temporal changes. In order to support LBS efficiently, it is necessary to be able to index and query well a large amount of spatio-temporal information of moving objects. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate how such location information of moving objects can be efficiently stored and indexed. In particular, we propose a novel location encoding method based on hierarchical administrative district information. Our proposal is different from conventional approaches where moving objects are often expressed as geometric points in two dimensional space, (x,y). Instead, in ours, moving objects are encoded as one dimensional points by both administrative district as well as road information. Our method is especially useful for monitoring traffic situation or tracing location of moving objects through approximate spatial queries.

SiGe Alloys for Electronic Device Applications (실리콘-게르마늄 합금의 전자 소자 응용)

  • The silicon-germanium (SiGe) alloy, which is compatible with silicon semiconductor technology and has a smaller band gap and a lower thermal conductivity than silicon, has been used to fabricate electronic devices such as transistors, photodetectors, solar cells, and thermoelectric devices. This paper reviews the application of SiGe alloys to electronic devices and related technical issues. Since the SiGe alloy comprises germanium whose band gap is smaller than silicon, its band gap is also smaller than that of silicon irrespective of the ratio of silicon to germanium. This narrow band gap of SiGe enables the base thickness of bipolar transistors to decrease without a loss in current gain so that it is possible to improve the speed of bipolar transistors by adopting the SiGe-base. In addition, the conversion efficiency of solar cells is enhanced by the absorption of long-wavelength light in the SiGe absorption layer. Phonon scattering caused by the irregular distribution of alloying elements induces the lower thermal conductivity of SiGe than those of pure silicon and germanium. Because a thin film layer with a low thermal conductivity suppresses thermal conduction through a thermal sink, the SiGe alloy is considered to be a promising material for silicon-based thermoelectric systems.

Medical Image Compression Using JPEG International Standard (JPEG 표준안을 이용한 의료 영상 압축)

  • The Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) standard was proposed by the International Standardization Organization (ISO/SC 29/WG 10) and the CCITT SG VIII as an international standard for digital continuous-tone still image compression. The JPEG standard has been widely accepted in electronic imaging, computer graphics, and multi-media applications, however, due to the lossy character of the JPEG compression its application in the field of medical imaging has been limited. In this paper, the JPEG standard was applied to a series of head sections of magnetic resonance (MR) images (256 gray levels, $256{\times}256$ size) and its performance was investigated. For this purpose, DCT-based sequential mode of the JPEG standard was implemented using the CL550 compression chip and progressive and lossless coding was implemented by software without additional hardware. From the experiment, it appears that the compression ratio of about 10 to 20 was obtained for the MR images without noticeable distortion. It is also noted that the error signal between the reconstructed image by the JPEG and the original image was nearly random noise without causing any special-pattern-related artifact. Although the coding efficiency of the progressive and hierarchical coding is identical to that of the sequential coding in compression ratio and SNR, it has useful features In fast search of patient Image from huge image data base and in remote diagnosis through slow public communication channel.

This dissertation is stocks profit rate analysis which uses individual engine foreigner Knowledge Base HTS at the Bear Period the Bear Wave Period the Bull Period the Bull Wave Period. Knowledge Based e-friend HTS was Installed. HTS does composite stock exchange index in actuality stock trading and engine's fund earning rate, yield that is abroad comparative analysis using trend line that is HTS tool, MACD, Bollinger Bands, Stochastic slow's function. Usually, each subjects suppose that deal 5 stocks, and comparative study of the profit(loss)rate of the down to earth falling rate and rising rate, by comparing the earning rate of 5 Small capital stocks with 5 medium capital stocks and 5 Large capital stocks during the bear period, the bear wave period, the bull period, the bull wave period has meaning at the making research of the financial IT field.

Practical Study on Adjustment of Load Correlation Equations of Pole Transformer (주상변압기 부하 상관식 조정에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • This paper presents a result of practical study about the adjustment of load correlation equation for the load management of pole transformer. For adjusting the load correlation equation, we analyze the correlative relation between working electric energy[kWh] and peak load[A]. To enhance the accuracy of correlation equation, we classify the 12 representative area patterns. And then, we select the 24 sample pole transformer for each area pattern. For the reliability of the data using the load correlation equation, load management equipment is utilized for each sample pole transformer. Through the on-line data acquisition, we construct the database. For adjusting the load correlation equation, we consider the two points. One is the goodness of fitness for load correlation equation and the other is prevention of pole transformer damage due to the overload. Finally, we propose the correlation equation using the linear and quadratic equation all at once. Through the case studies, we verify that the proposed load correlation equation is reduced the error ratio than conventional correlation equation.

  • Although conventional index structures provide various nearest-neighbor search algorithms for high-dimensional data, there are additional requirements to increase search performances as well as to support index scalability for large scale data. To support these requirements, we propose a distributed high-dimensional indexing structure based on cluster systems, called a Distributed Vector Approximation-tree (DVA-tree), which is a two-level structure consisting of a hybrid spill-tree and VA-files. We also describe the algorithms used for constructing the DVA-tree over multiple machines and performing distributed k-nearest neighbors (NN) searches. To evaluate the performance of the DVA-tree, we conduct an experimental study using both real and synthetic datasets. The results show that our proposed method contributes to significant performance advantages over existing index structures on difference kinds of datasets.

A novel IGBT with improved electrical characteristics (향상된 전기적 특성을 갖는 IGBT에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we tried different two approach to improve the performance of the IGBT. The first approach is that adding N+ region beside P-base in the conventional IGBT. It can make the conventional IGBT to get faster turn-off time and lower conduction loss. The second approach is that adding P+ region on right side under gate to improve latching current of conventional IGBT. The device simulation results show improved on-state, latch-up and switching characteristics in each structure. The first one was presented lower voltage drop(3.08V) and faster turn-off time(3.4us) than that of conventional one(3.66V/3.65us). Also, second structure has higher latching current(369A/?? ) that of conventional structure. Finally, we present a novel IGBT combined the first approach with second one for improved trade-off characteristic between conduction and turn-off losses. The proposed device has better performance than conventional IGBT.

The Path Loss Prediction in Korean Terrain Environment (한국 지형에서의 무선호출 주파수 대역의 전계강도 예측모델)

  • Path loss prediction method, one of the most essential parts in measuring the service area in mobile telecommunication, has been developed for many years. But, wave propagation depends on many kinds of environmental factors such as frequency, distance, the heights of transmitting and receiving antenna and the terrain status(buildings in large city, hilly terrain, mountain). These are the main reasons that the propagation models developed in foreign environments can not fit into Korean propagation condition. In this paper, therefore, we performed the measurement in Korean terrain environment in pager frequency band after deviding the terrain characteristics into six types. With this measured data, we derived several curves that follows the long-term wave progagation behavior and developed the wave propagftion prediction model which calculates the field strength at any point in the service area. The proposed model estimates the field strength in two categories, LOS(line-of-sight), or non LOS. We applied this model using the digital terrain data base and compared with the measured data. The result shows that the errors were between 3~9dB, which turned out to be practical.

  • This paper describes a design of the WAVE antenna system in V2X wireless communication systems for Intelligent Transport Systems. The WAVE standard protocols defined 5.825~5.9GHz frequency range for wireless communications with V2X. In a recent, A study of WAVE communication system it has been studied mainly the base station and the OBU technology in order to improve the communication performance of the communication distance. In this paper, the proposed vehicular WAVE antenna using the EBG structure is to improve performance. The proposed WAVE antenna with EBG shows improvement of return loss and radiation beam pattern. The performance of WAVE communication systems for intelligent transport systems is dependent on the performance of antenna. The proposed vehicular antenna for WAVE communication systems shows improvement of return loss for performance.
