  • Recently, energy drink consumption is rising. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of energy drink on enamel erosion by measuring pH and titratable acidity in energy drink on the market. pH and titrable acidity in drink were measured by selecting 3 kinds of energy drinks with high sales volume among energy drinks on the domestic market. To evaluate the erosion level of normal enamel, the erosion level was measured by using a surface micro-hardness after soaking it in drink for 1 minute, for 3 minutes, for 5 minutes, for 10 minutes, and for 30 minutes while using 10 pieces of bovine specimens per each group. All the energy drinks were containing citric acid. As for pH in drinks, pH of Burn intense was the lowest with $2.51{\pm}0.01$. Hotsix stood at $3.16{\pm}0.01$. Redbull stood at $3.37{\pm}0.00$. In pH 5.5, the titrable acidity of Burn intense was 3.59 ml. Redbull was 3.43 ml. Hotsix was 1.92 ml. All the energy drinks were reduced the surface micro-hardness according to a rise in time of immersion. Following the 30-minute treatment in drinks, the surface micro-hardness value was indicated to be the lowest in Redbull with $119.72{\pm}15.16$ VHN. It was shown to be in order of Hotsix $208.75{\pm}10.99$ and Burn intense $210.47{\pm}8.01$. Hotsix and Burn intense had no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). Accordingly, all the energy drinks, which were used in the experiment, caused the tooth enamel erosion. Among them, Redbull led to the largest enamel erosion. Thus, energy drink containing citric acid and low pH can cause the enamel erosion. However, it is thought to be necessarily progressed by considering factors of influencing etching a little more diversely by additionally analyzing intraoral factors, acid kinds, and even the content in calcium, phosphate and fluoride.

  • A Bayesian burn-in procedure is developed for imited failure populations in which defective items fail soon after they are put in operation and non-defective ones never fail during he technical life of the items. Sequential schemes guaranteeing pre-specified outgoing quality of a product are derived based on prior information on the quality of a product and accumulated failure information up to the decision point. A numerical example is also provided.

  • When the cotton/polyester fiber mixed fabrics were treated with ferrous sulfate and oxalic acid for burn out finishing, it was examined how the effects of process conditions as concentration of burn out agents, temperature, time and pressure act onto the properties of polyester ground fabrics. The results are as follows. The effect of burn out finishing by pressure was greated in 3 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The properties as white index and tensile strength of polyester ground fabrics were decreased according as processing concentration, temperature time increases. The shrinkage was increased according as processing concentration, temperature time increases. The optimum condition of burn out agents to ferrous sulfate was 30% concentration, 150$^{\circ}C$, 1 min, 3 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and to oxalic acid was 10% concentration, 110$^{\circ}C$, 1min, 3 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. And the optimum of ferrous sulfate and oxalic acid used in combination was 10% ferrous sulfate and 7% oxalic acid, 110$^{\circ}C$, 1 min., 3 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • To find out the effect of commercially available energy drinks on tooth enamel erosion, analyzed pH, buffering capacity, and the content of some of the inorganic components selecting 4 energy drinks that has high affinity of the products currently being sold. In addition, by observing the degree of erosion before and after immersion in energy drink by surface microhardness and scanning electron microscope (SEM) the results were as follows: Acidity of energy drink 'Burn Intense' was the lowest as $2.78{\pm}0.01$ highest on distilled water as $6.475{\pm}0.01$. 'Burn Intense' buffering capacity was $3.48{\pm}0.155$ at pH 5.5, $1.88{\pm}0.15$ at pH 7.0 which is the highest, and 'Hot6' was $1.71{\pm}0.37$, $1.23{\pm}0.35$ on each of it showing the lowest points. Ca content on energy drink was the highest at 'Volt Energy' as ($77.21{\pm}2.70mg/kg$), the lowest at 'Hot6' as ($0.98{\pm}0.05mg/kg$). P content was the highest on 'Hot6'($1.34{\pm}0.05mg/kg$) and detected at 'Red Bull'. Enamel surface hardness variation of the energy drinks before and after immersion showed rapid decrease at 'Red Bull' ($66.65{\pm}35.60$), and 'Volt Energy' ($61.96{\pm}31.42$), 'Burn Intense' ($58.53{\pm}24.84$), 'Hot6' ($53.99{\pm}60.26$) was in order. Distilled water, the control group, showed significant difference with the experimental group (p<0.05). But there was no significant difference between energy drinks. At SEM observation and analysis, 'Burn Intense' was the most severe demineralization, 'Volt Energy', 'Hot6', 'Red Bull', distilled water was in order. In the above results, taken together there were no statistically differences between energy drinks but significant difference in comparison with distilled water. In addition, at SEM observation and analysis all energy drink caused dental erosion, especially 'Burn Intense', has the lowest acidity, was serious. Thus, it is believed to provide a variety of oral health education and information about energy drinks that can affect the erosion of the teeth so public have the right to be recognized and reasonable dental care.

  • In order to control tunnel blast vibration for adjacent facilities using electronic detonator, Understanding about the characteristics of near-field ground vibration is necessary. The purpose of this paper is to analyze effects of Cut-area and Extension-area vibration in relation to decision of tunnel blast vibration. These data were obtained at the top monitoring positions while ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ tunnel site of "Wonju~Gangneung double railroad section ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ construction" was passing under the existing road. Thus, tunnel blasting was conducted by tunnel electronic blasting system with 0.01% high delay-time accuracy. It can be possible that not only keeping maximum charge per delay-time but also preventing amplification of vibration which is occurred by delay-time scatter using common detonators. Additionally, V-Cut was changed into Burn-Cut. The results was presented that vibration level of extension-holes were higher than Cut-holes. Therefore, near-field ground vibration can be effectively minimized using electronic detonators in the Cut area. And also more effective way to reduce tunnel blast vibration is full-face blast using electronic detonators.

  • Nuclear industries have faced unfavorable circumstances such as an obsolescence of the instrumentation and control system, and therefore nuclear society is striving to resolve this issue fundamentally. IEC and IAEA judge that FPGA technology is a good replacement for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) of Nuclear Instrumentation and Control System. FPGAs are currently highlighted as an alternative means for obsolete control systems. Because the main function inside an FPGA is initially developed as software, good software quality can impact the reliability of an FPGA-based controller. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a software development aspect strategy that enhances the reliability of an FPGA-based controller. In terms of software development, HDL-Programmed Device (HPD) Development Life Cycle is applied into FPGA-based Controller. The burn-in test and environmental(temperature) test should be performed in order to apply into nuclear instrumentation and control system. Therefore it is ensured that the developed FPGA-based controller are normally operated for 352 hours and 92 hours in test chamber of Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM).

  • Traditionally, for space program whose operation environment is severe, high reliability parts, that is class s microcircuit, JANS level semiconductor, and ER passive parts, are reliable choices. But in some case, we must use 'Non-standard Part' which is not verified as high reliability standard part. To use 'Non-standard Part' in space application, the manufacturer should qualify the part and screen potential week part from the flight lot. In this technical memo, I introduce the flight part verification process for KOMPSAT 1 and KOMPSAT 2 program.
