코브라과 (Elapidae)에 속하는 뱀에는 극소량으로도 치사시킬수 있는 독을 가지고 있는데 독을 구성하고 있는 물질중 특정한 계열의 단백질이 매우 두드러진 약리학적 활성을 보여줄수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 독사들의 혈액독소 및 신경독소를 우리나라에서 제일 종류가 많은 위암세포주(SNU-1)에 대해서 세포독성을 검색하고 곤충 및 해양생물의 독소에 대해서도 위암세포주를 이용하여 검색하였다. 검색 결과 king cobra계통인 Ophiophagus hannah의 분획은 SDS-PAGE에서 분자량이 66,000 부근에 나타난 것이 세포독성물질로 추측되며 더욱 정제하여 아미노산 서열을 비교하고 Phospholipase화성을 측정함으로써 세포독성물질의 규명이 가능하리라 생각된다.

인터넷 포털 사이트 다음의 조사 자료에 의하면 지난 몇 년간 인기 애완동물 베스트 10위 중 1위 개, 2위 고양이, 3위 물고기, 4위 새, 5위 거북이, 6위 햄스터, 7위 원숭이, 8위 뱀, 9위 이구아나, 10위 전갈 등 이었으니, 최근에는 마니아들로부터 한때 인기를 누렸던 기니피그와 고슴도치 이구아나의 등의 감소세가 두드러지고 새롭게 타란툴라(Tarantula)와 같은 이탈리아 맹독성 거미와 같은 독특하고 특이한 동물들이 개성시대에 걸맞게 새롭게 인기군으로 부상하고 있는 추세이다.

This paper has been studied the movement of snake robot. In this paper we developed a simulator to simulate the creeping locomotion of a snake robot. This Robot makes possible to analyze the creeping locomotion with the normal-direction slip coupled to gliding along the tangential direction. Using the nonslip condition of the wheels, the robot gains propulsion by means of constrained forces on the wheels caused by bending the joints. The results of simulations show that smooth lateral undulatory motion is achived.

붕장어 및 갯장어는 뱀장어, 검은점 곰치, 날붕장어 등과 함께 어체가 뱀 모양을 하고 있어 뱀장어목으로 분류되는 장어류로 대부분이 생선회로 이용되고 있고, 일부 만이 구이용으로 이용되고 있다. 이 중 붕장어는 우리나라 전 연안, 일본 홋카이도 및 동중국해 둥에서 연중 어획되고 있어, 우리나라에서는 일년 내내 즐겨 먹는 대표적인 생선회 중의 하나로 일반인에게는 일본어인 아나고로 더 잘 알려져 있다. (중략)

만손열두조충(Spirometra erinacei)의 성충에 의한 인체감염 2예가 투약후 충체를 수집함으로써 확인되었다. 환자는 강원도 산간지방에 거주하는 24세 및 21세 남자로 복통 및 상복부 통증이 있다고 하였으며 대변에서는 크기 $53-59{\times}37-42{\mu}m$의 조충류 충란이 발견되었다. 치료를 위해 atabrine 500mg과 하제를 투여한 바 3~4시간후 설사편으로부터 조충류 편절이 다수 수집되었다. 수집된 충체는 광선형 여관, 융구(vaginal opening)가 음경낭(cirrus sac)으로부터 분리되어 개구된 점, 저정낭(seminal vesicle)이 음경낭내로 포합된 점, 편절의 이음새부위에도 고환이 분포하는 점, 충란이 길고 한쪽 끝이 뾰족한 경향이 있으며 비대칭형인 점 등으로 Spirometra erinacei(Rudolphi, 1819)로 동정하였다. 환자는 모두 뱀을 날로 먹은 경험이 있으며 따라서 뱀이 감염원이었을 것으로 추측된다.

2010년 9월 남해 상주 앞바다에서 정치망으로 바다뱀과 엽상자어 4개체(TL 109.8~129.7mm)를 채집하였다. 형태적으로 엽상자어는 8개의 소낭이 항문 앞까지 존재하고, 전체 근절수가 141~151개, 전장에 대한 체고가 10% 이하인 점, 흑색소포가 항문 뒤부터 꼬리지느러미 앞까지 8~9개 분포하는 특징에 따라 까치물뱀속(Ophichthus sp.) 어류와 유사한 것으로 확인되었다. 형태적 결과와는 달리 미토콘드리아 DNA 12S rRNA 826 bp의 염기서열을 분석한 결과, 엽상자어는 돛물뱀속(Pisodonophis sp.) 성어와 100% 일치하였고, 돌기바다뱀(Pisodonophis cancrivorus) 성어와는 98.1% 일치하였다. 본 연구결과에서는 형태 동정결과가 분자 동정결과와 일치하지 않는 결과를 보였고, 이는 까치물뱀속과 돛물뱀속 엽상자어기의 형태적 구분이 매우 어렵다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 처음으로 한국에서 채집된 돛물뱀속 엽상자어의 형태적 특징을 상세히 기술하였다.

Seventeen specimens of leptocephali [9.8-44.5 mm total length (TL)], of the family Ophichthidae, were collected from southeastern waters off Jeju Island and the Korea-Japan intermediate zone, and identified by means of morphology and genetics. These specimens were identified as belonging to the subfamily Ophichthinae based on various combinations of morphological characters: 211-215 total myomeres; 7 gut swellings; 2 liver lobes connected with the gall bladder on the second lobe; 6-7 postanal pigments present from anus to caudal margin. An analysis of the partial 12S rRNA sequences (849 base pairs) of mitochondrial DNA showed that our specimens must be Ophisurus macrorhynchos because their sequences were concordant with those of the adult O. macrorhynchos (genetic distance = 0.000). Furthermore, their total myomeres were consistent with those of the O. macrorhynchos adult. This is the first time that the morphological characteristics of O. macrorhynchos leptocephali have been described for Korean waters, and we suggest diagnostic characteristics for the genus Ophisurus leptocephali. We hypothesize that one of the spawning grounds of O. macrorhynchos is located in the southeastern part of Jeju Island.
