  • 디젤자동차는 가솔린 자동차에 비하여 연료소비효율(fuel economy)이 20-30% 정도 높고 고출력을 낼수 있어 이의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 본 고에서는 디젤자동차에서 배출되는 수많은 화학물질중에서 문제가 되고 있는 입자상물질, NOx 및 SO$_{2}$를 제거하는 기술에 대하여 살펴본다. 이러한 오염물질의 저감을 위하여는 배기가스 재순환, 분사시기의 조절, 인터쿨링 같은 연소기술의 개선과 유황분이 적고, 방향족화합물의 함량이 적은 청정연료를 사용하여 어느 수준까지는 목적을 달성할 수 있다. 1. 디젤자동차 배출허용기준. 2. 배기가스 정화기술. 2.1 트랩기술(trap technology). 2.2 재생기술(regeneration technology). 2.3 제어 및 센서기술(control and sensor technology)

  • This paper describes the homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine for a new concept. HCCI engines are being considered as a future alternative for diesel and gasoline engines. HCCI engines have the potential for high indicated thermal efficiency under part load and very low NOx emissions. The objective of this paper is to clear the effects of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate on the HCCI. For this purpose, a 4-cylinder, compression ignition engine was converted into a HCCI engine This work has been run with propane and butane fuels at a constant speed.

  • Aging construction machinery and vehicles with old diesel engines usually have a long life span, so they continue to emit harmful emissions. Therefore, replacing these older diesel engines with engines that meet the latest emisstion standard is expected to help improve air quality, and engines with propane fuels, which are easily available at construction sites, can be an appropriate alternative. In this study, a propane fueled engine was developed based on a 6.8-liter CNG engine, and technologies such as gas injectors, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and enhanced catalysts were applied. As a result, nitrogen oxides achieved half of the emission performance at the Stage-V level, the latest emission standard, while securing diesel engine output and torque in the same class.

  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is more effective than selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or lean $NO_x$ trap (LNT) for the reduction of $NO_x$ emissions in diesel engines. A large amount of EGR gas is necessary to satisfy the stringent regulations on $NO_x$ emissions. Low pressure loop (LPL) EGR is almost independent of the variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) at a specific boost pressure, so LPL EGR is better than conventional high pressure loop (HPL) EGR in terms of EGR supply. We compare the influence of HPL EGR and LPL EGR on the combustion characteristics at a constant boost pressure in a diesel engine. The dilution ratio was employed as an independent parameter to analyze the effect of the dilution of the intake charge for each EGR loop. At the same level of $NO_x$ emissions, the fuel consumption and smoke opacity were slightly lower for LPL EGR than for HPL EGR.

  • This study presented techno-economic analysis of a 500 MWe oxy-coal power plant with CO2 capture. The power plant included a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB), ultra-supercritical steam turbine, flue gas conditioning (FGC), air separation unit (ASU), and CO2 processing unit (CPU). The dry flue gas recirculation (FGR) was used to control the combustion temperature of CFB. One FGR heat exchanger, one heat exchanger for N2 stream exiting ASU, and a heat recovery from CPU compressor were considered to enhance heat efficiency. The decrease in the temperature difference (ΔT) of the FGR heat exchanger that means the increase in heat recovery from flue gas enhanced the electricity and exergy efficiencies. The annual cost including the FGR heat exchanger and FGC cooling water was minimized at ΔT = 10 ℃, where the electricity efficiency, total capital cost, total production cost, and return on investment were 39%, 1371 M$, 90 M$, and 7%/y, respectively.

  • The efforts of EGR on performance and emissions were investigated in this study. The engine used for the tests was a six-cylinder, 11 liter, and turbo-charged, heavy-duty diesel engine with a low pressure route ECR system. The volume of recirculated gas was controlled by a manually operated valve which was installed between the turbine outlet and compressor inlet. The experiments were performed at various engine speeds and loads while the ECR rates were set at 4% and 8%. Exhaust emissions with EGR system were compared with the baseline emissions.

  • Although the Paris Agreement in 2015 aimed to limit global temperature increases to below 2℃ and eventually to 1.5℃ to address the climate crisis, global temperature continues to rise. Developed countries have proposed a circular economy as a major strategy to tackle this issue. Detailed implementation methods include reusing, remanufacturing, recycling, and energy recovery. Remanufacturing has a greater potential to achieve high added value and carbon neutrality than other resource circulation methods. However, currently, no standardized method for quantitatively evaluating the greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction effects of remanufacturing exists. This study compares and analyzes recent research trends since 2020 on the calculation of GHG emission reduction effects from remanufacturing. It also examines international standards for environmental impact assessment, including GHGs and environmental performance labeling systems. This study derives the key factors for standardizing the calculation of the GHG emission reduction effects of remanufactured products.

  • In this paper, the combination effects of oxygen component in fuel and exhaust gas recirculation on the exhaust emissions have been investigated for a direct injection diesel engine. It is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel of diether group that the smoke emission of DGM(diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) blended fuel is reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel, that is, it can supply oxygen component sufficiently at higher loads and speeds in diesel engine. But, NOx emission of oxygenated fuel was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. Also, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) on the characteristics of NOx emission has been investigated. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx was achieved with oxygenated fuel(DGM 5vol-%) and cooled EGR method(10∼15%).

  • In order to collect the engine performance data and determine optimum engine conditions, engine performance test based on interface unit were tested This paper was carried out that engine' performance was developed using interface unit between personal computer and diesel engine. The results of the study are summarized as follows: Interface unit was developed. By using PAL, simulation was carried in order to logic's inspection. From this tea NO$_{x}$ were decreased, otherwise PM were increased. By using EGR system PM were increased by twice in the high load ranges, it was not seen to come into effect in the low load ranges. This system was tested D-l3 mode, the results were decreased more than 50% in the NO$_{x}$ emission.

  • A lot of VOCs that is noxious ate exhausted at drying process of enamel coating device. This VOC gas can be incinerated perfectly through catalytic combustion, and heat that is occurred in incineration process ran be again used in drying process. By using VU catalytic combustion technology, in this study, we developed a enamel coating machine that have an excellent environment improvement and energy saying effect. As basic research for this development characteristics ana performance of catalytic combustion for VOC gas was evaluated and numerical analysis for drying oven was calculated. According to the result, VOCs combustion characteristics of metal form catalysis was excellent in high temperature, and it was seen that enamel coating machine should be designed as a precious controllable structure of recirculating supply rate and suction rate.
