As P-new-city is planned and constructed, district eating utilizing an existing near-by power plant's waste heat is considered as an economic and environment friendly way of providing heating to the new city. Many pipeline diameters and pumping station location and capacity were assumed, investigated and optimized, to satisfy the customers' heat demand considering common district heating pipe-network design and construction practice, and also and construction, pumping station land price and construction and the pumping energy cost during lifetime of DH systems.
In the nuclear power plant, emergency core coolant system(ECCS) is furnished at reactor coolant system(RCS) in order to cool down high temperature water in case of emergency. However, in this coolant system, thermal stratification phenomenon can be occurred due to coolant leaking in the check valve. The thermal stratification produces excessive thermal stresses at the pipe wall so as to yield thermal fatigue crack(TFC) accident. In the present study, when the turbulence penetration occurs in the branch piping, the maximum temperature differences of fluid at the pipe cross-sections of the T-branch with thermal stratification are examine
Numerical analysis is carried out to assess the temperature distribution on the mixing tee line of Residual Heat Removal System (RHRS). In RHRS, hot and cold fluids of main and bypass piping are mixed and unmixed by the flow rate or piping layout. Thermal stratification phenomenon is a cause of major degradation on RHRS piping. According to the analysis for each operation modes, maximum temperature difference between top and bottom of piping were evaluated about 60K when the flow rate of main and bypass lines is same. Temperature difference will be decreased at the elbow on RHRS piping if the length of vertical piping is increased.
In analysis of piping vibration of petrochemical plant, the forcing functions mainly depend upon the equipment working mechanism and vibration resources in the piping systems. In general, harmonic function is used for the system with rotary equipments. Mechanical driving frequencies, wave functions, and response spectrum are used for reciprocating compressors, surge vibration of long transfer piping, and seismic/wind vibration, respectively. In this study, for the spray injection case inside the pipe, forcing function was modeled, in which two different fluids are distributed uniformly. To confirm the results, the scheme used for the forcing function was applied for real piping system. The vibration mode of the real system was consistent with the 4th mode obtained by simulation using the forcing function formulated in this study.
In this paper, a theoretical method is presented to design a hydraulic control valve system that consist of an important component in the hydraulic snubber. The hydraulic snubber is used essentially to support the piping systems at power plants. To calculate the force due to pressure drop and flow rate in the valve orifice and by-pass hole, Bernoulli equation is used. The Reynolds equation are numerically analyzed in the clearance gap between the valve cone and valve seat to estimate the friction force and leakage flow rate. Based on the detailed theoretical data, we developed successfully the hydraulic snubber for power plants.
Local wall thinning and integrity degradation caused by several mechanisms, such as flow accelerated corrosion, cavitation, flashing and/or liquid droplet impingement, is a main concern in secondary steam cycle piping system of nuclear power plants in terms of safety and operability. Thinned pipe management program (TPMP) has being developed and optimized to reduce the possibility of unplanned shutdown and/or power reduction due to pipe failure caused by wall thinning. In this paper, newest technologies, standards and regulations related to the integrity assessment, repair and replacement of thinned pipe component are reviewed. And technical improvement items in TPMP to secure the reliability and effectiveness are also presented.
