  • Pipeline network analysis requires fluid mechanics. A lot of equations have been used for flow analysis according to the behavior of fluid in pipelines and the operative situations. In this paper, simulation and analysis have been performed for the pipeline network system in Kyungin area using a steady-state mathematical model. Then, a statistical model using partial least squares(PLS) method has been developed with the data obtained from the developed mathematical model. The results showed that it is possible to simulate and analyze pipeline network systems using statistical approach.

  • To understand failure behavior of pipe thinned by flow accelerated corrosion, in this study, the pipe failure tests were performed on 102mm-Sch.80 carbon steel pipe with various local wall thinning shapes, and the failure mode, load carrying capacity, and deformability were investigated. The tests were conducted under loading conditions of 4-points bending and internal pressure. The experimental results showed that the failure mode of thinned pipe depended on magnitude of internal pressure and thinning length as well as loading direction and thinning depth and angle. The variation in load carrying capacity and deformability of thinned pipe with thinning length was determined by stress type appled to the thinning area and circumferential thinning angle. Also, the effect of internal pressure on failure behavior was dependent on failure mode of thinned pipe, and it promoted crack occurrence and mitigated local buckling at thinned area.

  • Experiments had been conducted Qualitatively regarding flow measurement errors of orifice flowmeter due to temperature difference between the inside and outside the natural gas meter-run in case of no pipe insulations. The primary factors considered in this study are fluid velocity and surrounding temperature. In addition, a portion of thermal radiation due to the sun was involved as a factor. The results showed that the considerable errors were not detected even in conditions of low flow rates and large temperature difference between the inside and outside the meter-run.

  • Conductance is a concept contrary to flow resistance and is extensively used as a flow index on how easily fluid is transported through a pneumatic pipe or fluid device. However, research on flow conductance is very rare to date, and a systematic investigation is needed for the standardization of pneumatic devices. In the present study, a computational fluid dynamics method was applied to solve the compressible Navier-Stokes equations with two-equation turbulence models. The present CFD results were validated with existing experimental data. The conductance values and friction factors at the inlet and outlet of a pneumatic pipe were used to assess the flow rates. The present results showed that the conductance depends on the pressure ratio at the inlet and outlet of a pipe.

  • Air mixing system which is composed of air pressure control system, hot pipe system and air mixer, is the facility for mixing hot air($1000^{\circ}C$, 10kg/s) from storage air heater (SAH) and decompressed air($20^{\circ}C$, 15kg/s) from high pressure air supply system. Air pressure control system reduce the pressure of the air, from 32MPa to 3.5 MPa and supply the decompressed air to air mixer. The hot pipe system supply hot air from SAH to air mixer which mix hot with the decompressed air from air pressure control system. Fully mixed air flow rate is 25kg/s and mixed temperature is up to $400^{\circ}C$. So, we can expand the operating envelop of the supersonic ground test facility to low Mach number and low altitude region.

  • To model the compression system with more integrity, the pipeline dynamic model was applied to the compression system model. To combine the pipeline dynamic model and the compression system model, appropriate boundary conditions were selected on each end of connecting pipe with compressor, plenum and throttle valve. Simulation result illustrate the effect of pipeline dynamic model on the stability of compression system.
