Advanced Driver Assistance System for the Control of Turn Signal Indicator (방향지시등 제어를 위한 운전자 지원 시스템)

  • In this paper, a novel turn signal indication scheme is proposed and implemented to handle the turn signal of a vehicle automatically. By adopting accelerometer for the motion recognition of vehicle's momentum, the proposed way could control and manage turn signals according to the moving direction of a car when a driver forgot handling turn signal lever. The designed control system is plugged into the motorbike and tested to demonstrate improved driver's safety suitable for ADAS.

  • As the five-day workweek has been implemented in Korea many people are focusing their attention on hobbies, leisure activities or camping to enjoy the weekend. Recently many workers are purchasing personal mobility devices for commute, due to the launch of cheap personal mobility devices by Xiaomi. Under such circumstances, this study aimed to develop turn signals by using gyroscope sensors for safe use of personal mobility devices or for leisure activities. This study focused on previous cases of turn signal production for the safety during leisure activities or for personal mobility devices and analyzed their cases and identified problems. This study further presented an alternative design to overcome such problems and to develop turn signals for the safety of users. This is ring shape and included LED and then it expresses user's direction for backside. This study is one of the solution for safety of personal mobility product user.

  • 최근 조명기술의 발달에 따라 가장 각광을 받고 있는 것이 LED 소자를 이용한 발관체이다. 이미 육상의 교통신호등 뿐만 아니라, 차량 방향지시등, 빽라이트등 다양한 용도로 사용되고 있으며, 해상에도 등부표의 광원용으로 사용되고 있다. 이러한 추세에 맞추어, 항을 진입하는데 가능 필요한 도등의 광원용으로 LED를 사용하고 이를 제어하는 기술을 연구개발하여 전세계에서 처음으로 부산 신항에 설치하여 효과를 분석하였다.

  • This paper presents the development of CAD system for the design of lens of the Turn Signal Lamp that can model and simulate its optical performance. The system consists of three main modules: skin surface modeling module, inner lens modeling module and optical performance simulation module. Skin surface geometry can be modeled by the input of data file and inner lens can be modeled by the input of only four parameter using its geometric characteristics. Also light distribution pattern, the barometer of optical performance is generated by means of finite ray tracing method. The system display modeled geometry, ray tracing and generated light distribution pattern.

Position of Intersection Recognition and Tum Signal Operation Approaching at Target Intersection (교차로 인지와 방향지시등 조작 지점에 관한 검토)

  • In-vehicle route guidance information(RGI) systems have been developed with the advancement of the information and communication technologies. However, the RGI is provided by a pre-determined option, drivers occasionally pass the target intersection owing to non- or late- recognizing it. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the position of driver's tum signal operation and intersection recognition approaching at the target intersection which is difficult to identify as a preliminary research on developing the additional RGI connecting with the tum signal control. The field experiment was conducted to measure distances of the turn signal operation and intersection recognition from the target intersection according to driving lanes and landmarks at adjacent intersection. And, glance behavior to the car navigation display was evaluated by using an eye camera. The results indicate that drivers operate the turn signal after confirming a landmark in the case of the intersection with it. However, most case of driving, drivers operate the tum signal at 40 to 50m before coming to the target. To provide the additional RGI, when drivers do not operate the tum signal approaching at the target intersection based on the results, is expected to improve the traffic safety and the comfort for drivers.

  • Currently, society thinks human-health is very important. As a result, the number of individual bikes is increasing. And bicycle accident rate is increasing every year. We have developed the safety-equipment utilizing a smartphone. Because, in order to reduce the rate of bicycle accidents. The working principle is that the connection between the bicycle and safety equipment with built-in Bluetooth chip. Information of bike-driving Is measured using a smartphone with built-in gyro sensor. I made an algorithm for specifying a direction by using the values of the gyro sensor. With this algorithm, it is possible to reduce the accident rate of the bicycle.

  • This paper deals with implementation of intelligent head up display for vehicle safety system. The Implanted new intelligent transport system offer the potential for improved vehicle to driver communication. The most commonly viewed information in a vehicle is from the Head up display, where speed, tachometer, engine RPM, navigation, engine temperature, fuel gauge, turn indicators and warning lights provide the driver with an array of fundamental information. TFT LCD, LCD Back light led, plane mirror, lens and controllers parts were designed to head up display system. Finally, In this paper, we analyze intelligent head up display system for vehicle of driver safety.

  • The function of the direction indicator is essential for the safety of bicycle trips and commuters. In this study, the direction indicator function was developed on the prefabricated bicycle using the Arduino. With the simple function of the Arduino, you can attach a switch to the handle to turn the direction indicator on and off. Since it is a simple function, it is judged that it is suitable for the maker activity that can make it by DIY by oneself having a bicycle. In this paper, we have opened the possibility of attaching a lot of services to bicycles through the proposed functions.
