A Study of Radiation Distribution for Dismantling a Nuclear Facility (해체 구조물의 방사화 분포 연구)

  • 연구로 및 원자력 시설의 해체 공정 절차 수립과 해체 시나리오 선정에 기초 자료를 제공하고자 컴퓨터 그래픽스를 응용한 방사화 분포 가시화 연구가 수행되었다. 해체 전 시료 채취와 핵종 분석을 통해 방사능 자료가 확보된 연구로 2 호기 조사실(Exposure Room)과 조사실 주변의 콘크리트 차폐체(Concrete Shielding)를 대상으로 방사화 분포 가시화 실험이 이루어졌다. $^{60}Co$에 오염된 조사실의 벽면과 콘크리트 차폐체의 깊이 별로 조사된 방사능 농도 값을 기초로하여 이들 구조물을 3 차원으로 모델링 한 후 Contour mapping을 수행하여 방사화 분포 가시화를 완료하였다. 방사능 정도를 가시화 한 결과와 콘크리트 차폐체 깊이에 따라 지수 함수적으로 감소하고 있었던 결과가 잘 일치하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구 결과 자료는 향후 해체 활동 중 방사선에 노출되는 작업자의 피폭선량 평가 모델에 중요한 역할을 수행할 것이다.

Remote Visualization of Radiation Information based on small Semiconductor Sensor Modules (소형 반도체 센서모듈 기반 방사선정보 원격 가시화기술 연구)

  • In this paper we studied the radiation detection technology which described the radiation level distribution in high radiation area with remotely and safely. The designed radiation mapping system was composed of radiation nodes and radiation station. The radiation nodes could sense the radiation dose values with pMOSFET radiation sensors and transmit them to the radiation station. At the radiation station the received radiation values were merged with a geometric information and visualized at the virtual graphic location. For the functional verification of the above system, we attached the radiation nodes to each corner in our laboratory, executed the mapping tests, and confirmed the designed functions finally.

  • In the decommissioning and decontamination(D&D) planning stage, it is important that the scenarios are evaluated from an engineering point of views because the decommissioning work has to be executed economically and safely by following the best scenarios. Therefore, we need to develope several modules to evaluate the decommissioning scenarios. In this paper, the digital mock-up system is constructed in the virtual space to simulate the whole decommissioning process. The schedule evaluating equation and cost evaluation equation are derived to calculate the working time and the expected cost. And in order to easily identify the radiation level about the activated objects, the radiation visualization module is developed. Finally, on the basis of the obtained results from the Digital Mock-up and other important factors, the evaluating method of the scenarios that can indicate the best scenario is described.

The Visualization and the Fast Detection of Gamma Radiation Source using Stereo Image Processing (영상처리기반 감마선원 거리탐지 고속화 및 가시화 연구)

  • The stereo radiation detection system detects the gamma source and acquires two dimensional left and right images for gamma source and visible objects using the detection result. And then the system measures the distance to the radiation source from the system in 3D space using stereo vision algorithm. In this paper, we implemented the fast detection algorithm for gamma source from the system in 3D space to reduce the detection time with image processing algorithms. Additionally, the system's performance is verified through experiments on gamma irradiation facilities. As a result, if the fast detection algorithm applied to the system, we can confirm that the detection system represents a 35% better performance than the conventional detection method that is full scanning to acquire the stereo image. We also have visualized a gamma source distribution through a 3D monitor using the stereo vision algorithm in order to provide the information of radiation spatial distribution to the user efficiently.

  • CCD형 영상소자는 방사선 피폭 시 표면과 격자내부에 모두 손상을 받게 되며, 감마방사선이나 X선과 같은 고에너지의 이온화 방사선에 노출될 경우 격자 실리콘 내부에 전자-전공쌍(Electron-hole pair, EHP)이 발생된다. 이러한 EHP는 CCD의 순간 출력 광전류로 변환되어 백색 화소 형태의 영상잡음으로 가시화되며, 이 화소 수는 피폭 방사선량에 비례하여 증가하는 특성을 지니고 있다. 따라서 출력 영상정보를 분석하면 조사된 방사선의 양과 특성을 측정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CCD를 이용하여 가상의 방사능 물질 누출 공간에서 방사선원의 방향과 거리정보를 고속으로 탐지하기 위한 장치와 고속 측정 알고리즘을 구현하고 실제 방사선장에서 실증시험을 수행하였다. 방사선 탐지기는 콘형 납 콜리메이터(Collimator)와 가시광 변환용 신틸레이터(CsITl) 및 차폐체로 구성된 센서부와 제어 및 방사광 신호처리를 수행하는 PC부로 구성된다. 감마방사선($^{60}Co$) 방사선장 실증시험에서 방사선원간 거리 83cm에서 측정된 거리 탐지는 5.3%의 오차로 확인되었다. 이 방사선 탐지기는 임의의 고방사선 누출사고에 대한 초기대응 작업을 수행하기 위한 무인 이동로봇용 방사선 탐지기로 활용이 가능하다.

  • It is necessary to forecast the various dismantling activities prior to dismantling nuclear facilities by using various software instead of a physical mock-up system because the dismantling in a contaminated with radioactivity cause the results of an unexpected situation. The component that needs to develop a dismantling mock-up system was examined. There are many component systems such as a decommissioning database system,3D dosimetric mapping that represents a distribution of a radionuclide contamination, a component of modeling for nuclear facility and devices include the decontamination and decommissioning. The research of software architecture about these components was carried out because these component systems that have been independently doesn't describe not only to visual an activities of Decontamination and Decommissioning(D&D) but also to evaluate it. The result was established an architecture that consist of an visualization module which could be visualized an D&D activities and a simulation module which can be evaluated a dismantling schedule and decommissioning cost.

  • In the study, stereo-based of gamma-ray sources detector for the space including the gamma-ray source to scan in a raster scan method, and obtains a visible light image and the gamma-ray image. We went to retrieve and visualize the distance to source and the direction of the 3-dimension information from Stereo gamma-ray detectors. Configuration of the detector consisted of gamma-ray detecting sensor for gamma-ray Sources, pan-tilt for the scanning of the raster for detecting sources, and CCD camera for visible-light image. Implement a stereo structure of the device to measure the spatial distribution of source, the gamma-ray Detector and CCD camera for the stereo image acquisition was as each configuration 2. The gamma-ray detector and a visible light camera to revision the distribution of detection source, After performing each of the cameras of the stereo correction and shows the distribution of the gamma-ray Sources through 중첩 visible light image and the gamma-ray image. After Rectification process of Left and right image, we were derived visualization results of the stereo image.

  • In case of dismantling of nuclear power generation facility or radiation accident, the accurate information of gammaray source is essential for rapid decontamination. In order to more efficiently represent the position of the gamma ray to be removed, we create a spatial domain based on the real image. And we can perform decontamination of gamma-ray source more quickly by expressing the distribution of radiation source. The developed gamma ray imaging device overlaps with the visible image after gamma - ray detection and provides only two - dimensional image, but it does not show the distance information to the source. In this paper, we have developed a operation environment using the 3D visualization model for reporting effective decontamination operation.

Visualization of Khitan Scripts in Ancient Documents using Active Infrared Thermography (고문서 거란문자의 능동형 적외선 열영상 가시화)

  • Unreadable Khitan scripts of ancient documents written by indian ink on parchment(sheepskin) are visualized by active infrared thermography without contacting and damaging the document which are deteriorated and aged presumably over many years. Sinusoidal infrared thermal wave using Halogen lamp is applied to the surface of the document in order to selectively magnify and record the thermal response of indian ink. The infrared image of the document captured in real time by infrared camera under the active external excitation shows the better sharpness and readability of Khitan characters than the optical image, from which many Khitan letters like ' ' and ' ' sounding as 'd' and 'ri' in English alphabet are detected and deciphered. It is concluded from the experiment that the active infrared thermography can be used as a promising method for digital reconstruction and preservation of ancient documents in the future.

  • Motivated by the Communication Broadcasting Convergence service, various technical approaches are being used to develop more efficient antenna models. This paper proposes a compact mobile antenna which is attachable to a cell phone and is applicable for Communication Broadcasting Convergence. In the design of the antennas for mobile handsets, size reduction is a crucial factor. In this paper, the compactness of a loop antenna is realized by bending a folded-dipole. A short planar dipole is transformed to a twice folded dipole and a loop antenna to produce a larger input resistance. The current distribution of the antenna is the same as a loop antenna, and its radiation patterns are omni-directional. We also analyze the performance of the RFID antenna by exploring the current-induced near field radiation patterns using a electro-optic field mapping system.
