The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the experiences of visitors of Yeonnam-dong during the period covering the development of a linear park, the Gyeongui Line Park. This study used a text mining technique to analyze Naver Blog postings of those who visited Yeonnam-dong from June 2013 to May 2017, divided into four periods -from June 2013 to May 2014, from June 2014 to May 2015, from June 2015 to May 2016 and from June 2016 to May 2017. The keywords used were 'Yeonnam-dong', 'Gyeongui Line' and 'Yeontral Park' and the data was further refined and resampled. A semantic network analysis was conducted on the basis of the co-occurrences of words. The results of the study were as follows. During the entire period, the main experience of visitors to Yeonnam-dong was 'food culture' consistently, but the activities related to 'market', 'browsing', and 'buy' increased. Also, activities such as 'walk', 'play' and 'rest' in the park newly appeared after the construction of the park. Moreover, more diverse opinions about the Yeonnam-dong were expressed on the blog, and Yeonnam-dong began to be recognized as a place where a variety of activities can be enjoyed. Lastly, when the visitors wrote about the theme 'food culture', the scope of the keywords expanded from simple ones, such as 'eat', 'photograph' and 'chatting' to 'market', 'browsing', and 'walk'. The sub-themes that appeared with the park also expanded to various topics with the emergence of the Gyeongui Line Book Street. This study analyzed the change of experiences of visitors objectively with text mining, a quantitative methodology. Due to the nature of text mining, however, the subjective opinions inevitably have been involved in the process of refining. Also, further research is required to assess the direct relationship between these changes and park construction.
The purpose of this study is multi-faceted. Firstly, it is to examine the perceived differences in novelty experience, psychic distance, and satisfaction among Japanese, Chinese, and American tourists visiting Korea. Secondly, it is to investigate the effects of novelty experience on their overall satisfaction in Korea. Lastly, this study attempts to examine the role of psychic distance on the level of perceived novelty experience in Korea. A survey was conducted to 307 international tourists departing Korea at the In-Cheon International Airport. The results show that there is a significant difference in the perceived psychic distance, novelty experience, and overall satisfaction in Korea among Japanese, Chinese, and American tourists. Also, there is a significant effect of novelty experience on tourist overall satisfaction. The results further reveal that the degree of psychic distance is a significant determinant of the perceived novelty experience, which supports the effectiveness of psychic distance concept in predicting the novelty experience. The results of this study make a significant contribution to advancing our understanding of tourist behavior through the re-constructed concept of novelty.
The important factors of a food festival are divided into hardware and software programs. In this respect, this research aims to study the relationships among the composites of the food festival and its relationship with the visitors' revisit intention. Since the visitors' evaluation is a presumption of their satisfaction, it lies in a constant relationship with satisfaction and the reason why they revisited the festival. Thus, this research examined the influence of the composite factors on visitors' evaluation (operation, experience) and the relationship between operation evaluation and experience evaluation. In addition, it examined the relationship between evaluation factors and the intent of revisits. In conclusion, visitors' evaluation showed a positive effect on the survey about whether they would consider revisiting the food festival. In this context of continuative relationship, the research suggests that it would be necessary to examine the relationship between composite factors, visitors' evaluation, satisfaction and intent of revisits in future research.
In proposing the concept of flow which focuses on experiencing the sites visited by Korean wave tourists as induced by drama or movies, this paper investigated role of involvement variables for Korean wave tourists in influencing flow construct of film sites. The involvement of Korean wave was found to operate as a mechanism by which challenge, skills, focused attention on site might be more organized or more actively experienced. This recognizes that there is clearly a need for making the FIT sites exposed much by any mix of various media. This study showed that challenges and skills influence enjoyment as output factor of flow film site visitors are assumed to participate the roles of film characters, experiencing the places and atmosphere. The degree of visitors' reflections in the film optimizes awareness of flow experiences on the site. Therefore, it is necessary to provide more detailed experiential program on the film sites with the wide variety of flow-related contents in the film.
In the design of mobile entertainment systems for historical heritage sites, it is important to not only overcome technical challenges imposed by power requirements, computation limits, and connectivity, but to support group experiences and consider users preferences for situated media consumption. Cultural heritage sites provide an opportunity to entertain and educate the public through the use of mobile media. The proposed system implemented on a Java-enabled mobile phone provides both audio and visual content that is tailored by tracking user movement with GPS, collecting various user inputs and demographics, and allowing for socially acceptable eavesdropping via wireless networking. By designing for the spatial, personal, and social considerations of the environment, we aim to help users navigate the diverse topology of the space and consume the vast quantities of historical media.
Busan is a world-class tourist city representing Korea, and more professional storytelling is needed in the development and promotion of products. The purpose of this study is to convey the image of Busan using storytelling techniques to foreigners, and then examine the correlation between the intention of purchase and oral intention of the related tourist souvenirs. A survey of 162 foreigners was conducted. The results showed that storytelling exposure and visiting experience on tourist sites and the design of tourist products have a certain correlation between the intention of purchase and oral intentions. Attractive souvenir design, visiting experience in the region and storytelling in the area involved are expected to contribute positively to the revisit of foreign tourists and the attraction of potential tourists. This study is meaningful in that it provides a new direction for promoting Busan tourism products, and in the future, the district will conduct additional verification for tourism cities other than Busan to verify the research hypothesis extensively.
