Dynamic analysis has been increased recently to analyze the effect of the blasting vibration on the rock mass as well as the surrounding structures. The major input parameter far the general dynamic analysis, however, is merely the blasting pressure which can be obtained from the blasting pressure-time history curves. But in case of the complicate geological condition it is not simple to apply the blasting pressure on the numerical analysis because e ground vibration characteristics should be obtained considering the complexity of ground condition. Therefore the authors tried to use the blasting vibration waveform as an input data This vinylation frequency could be obtained from the test blasting in the Pasir mine, Indonesia. Through the dynamic numerical analysis on the slopes in Pasir, the current situation of this slope could be simulated precisely.

It is necessary to perform a dynamic analysis to numerically evaluate the effect of blasting on nearby facilities. The blast load time history, which cannot be directly measured, is most often determined from empirical equation. The load has to be adjusted to account for various factors influencing the load and the frequency, but there is not a clear guideline on how to adjust the load. In this study, a series of 2D dynamic numerical analyses that simulates a closely monitored test blasting is performed, from which the blast load that matches the measured vibrations are derived. In the analyses, it is assumed that the hole generated by the blasting is in the form of a circle, and the load was applied normally to the wall of the opening. Special attention was given in selecting the damping ratio for the ground, since it has important influence on the wave propagation and attenuation characteristics of the blast induce waves. The damping ratio was selected such that it matches favorably with the attenuation curve of the measurement. The analyses demonstrate that the empirical blast load widely used in practice highly overstimates the vibration since it does not account for the energy loss due to rock fragmentation. If the empirical load is used without proper adjustment, the numerical analysis may seriously overstimate the predicted vibration, and thus has to be reduced in the analysis.
Excavation by explosives blasting necessarily involves noise and vibration, which is highly prone to face claims on the environmental and structural aspects from the neighbors. When the blasting carried out in the vicinity of a structure, the effect of blasting vibration on the stability of the structure should be carefully evaluated. In the conventional method of evaluation, an equation for blast vibration is obtained from test blasting which is later used to determine the amount of charge. This method, however, has limitations in use since it does not consider topography and change in ground conditions. In order to overcome the limitations, dynamic numerical analysis is recently used in continuum or discontinuous models, where the topography and the ground conditions can be exactly implemented. In the numerical analysis for tunnels and rock slopes, it is very uncommon to simulate multi-hole blasting. A single-hole blasting pressure is estimated and the equivalent overall pressure at the excavation face is used. This approach based on an ideal case usually does not consider the ground conditions. And this consequently results in errors in calculation. In this presentation of a case study, a new approach of using blast waves obtained in the test blast is proposed. The approach was carried out in order to improve the accuracy in calculating blasting pressure. The stability of a structure in the vicinity of a slope blasting was examined using the newly proposed method.
In this study, fracture formation and fracture volume by blasting demolition of model reinforced concrete pillars were compared with various vertical load and influence of reinforced steel bar. The more vertical load increased, the more tensile cracks and vertical direction cracks produced. In vertical load of 2.0ton, tensile cracks on vertical direction were predominantly produced. Generally, the more vertical load increased, the more bending deformation of concrete steel bar decreased. As a result, vertical load was influenced fracture formation of concrete and bending deformation of reinforced steel bar. Reinforced steel bar was influenced fracture volume of concrete. According to vertical load and influence of reinforce steel bar by blasting demolition of reinforced concrete pillars, drilling and blasting pattern may be modified.
In this paper, the blasting load has been calculated using Input Identification method and measured data in borehole blasting to reflect the exact blast behavior and soil vibration. The fitness of calculated blasting load is examined by comparing measured data and results of numerical analysis. According to the results, blasting load estimated by Input Identification method was more adequate than proposed blasting pressure equation in the reflection of blast behavior and soil vibration. In addition, it showed more reasonable results at the evaluation of structure's vibration in the 3D finite element method.

The numerical investigation for the effects of blasting-induced vibration on adjacent dam and pore water pressure fluctuation was conducted through solid-water coupled analysis under dynamic loading. The stability of dam was examined by peak particle velocity of core. Pore water pressure distributions were calculated by steady state flow analysis using coupled analysis on ground water and blasting-induced vibration. The influence of pore water pressure and the effective stress distribution in the ground were also investigated. Furthermore, effective stress alteration was examined by applying Finn & Byrne Model to monitor the generation and dissipation of pore water pressure.

In this paper, the 1/5 scale models of the reinforced concrete colunms were designed and fabricated. The influence of the number of blasting holes on the exposed length of steel bars and vertical load was investigated. The relation between the length of steel bar and the number of blasting holes was examined by performing the blast tests considering the vertical load on the scaled reinforced concrete columns. Weight of scaled column models by blasting and that of exposed was compared with the number of blasting holes. Finally, based on the exposed length of steel bars and vertical load, the number of blasting holes were calculated. Results shows that the number of blasting holes calculated in this study are suitable for scaled structure models test by blasting demolition.
A locally damaged structure is a structure that cannot be reused due to having parts that have lost their structural function as a result of abnormal load across the interior or exterior of the structure. The causes of the abnormal load occurrences can be classified into natural disaster and artificial disaster. Locally damaged structures caused by this abnormal load have risk factors that may lead to the possibility of additional secondary collapses, so such structures require immediate and complete dismantling. The case presented in this study involves the application of explosive demolition to a steel truss structured bridge in the Philippines that was damaged due to construction failures and the hurricane. Although shaped charges were needed in explosive demolitions, difficulties in locally obtaining such material. So, we made a charge container to charging of emulsion explosive during the explosive demolition. The explosive demolition resulted in the vertical free fall of the mid-section of the bridge and the free fall rotating of the both end section of the bridge. The neighboring posts and bridge piers did not show signs of damages, while post-demolition fragmentation of removed parts was found to be satisfactory.
