Preparation of Water Repellent Polyurethane Coating Films Using Perfluoroalkyl Alcohol (과불화 알코올을 이용한 발수성 폴리우레탄 코팅 필름의 제조)

  • Fluorinated polyurethane coating solutions were synthesized from perfluoroalkyl alcohol, toluene diisocyanate, and polycarbonate diol as starting materials. Next, coating films were prepared by spin-coating the fluorinated polyurethane coating solutions on the PC substrates, followed by thermal curing at $120^{\circ}C$. The obtained fluorinated polyurethane coating films were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectrometer, contact angle tester and pencil hardness tester. Contact angle measurements of water on the coating films showed that the addition of perfluoroalkyl alcohol improved the water repellency and increased the contact angle from $81^{\circ}C$ to $111^{\circ}C$. However, the pencil hardness of coating films exhibited a constant grade of H, irrespective of the addition of perfluoroalkyl alcohol.

Surface Hardness and Water Repellet of Earth Paint (흙페인트의 적절한 사용을 위한 표면경도 및 발수성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose : This study aimed to verify the surface hardness and water repellency of earth paint manufactured with earth, a natural material, and provide the results as basic data for paint made with natural materials. Method : After presenting the accurate manufacturing methods for basic materials for paint, the authors conducted and analyzed experiments to evaluate surface hardness and water repellency, fundamental performance indicators for paint, based on different mixture ratios. From the results of the experiment to assess the surface hardness of flour-based earth paint, we observed high surface hardness only after painting the specimen three times. Since potato starch-based earth paint has higher viscosity than its flour-based counterpart, the former did not paint well on the first occasion, resulting in low surface hardness. After painting two or more times, however, it was observed to have higher surface hardness than flour-based earth paint. Result : It was found that at least three iterations of painting was required to obtain high surface hardness of potato starch-based earth paint. Furthermore, the results of the water resistance experiment of earth paint suggest that the use of environment-friendly finishing materials coupled with boiled linseed oil will mitigate the drawbacks of earth paint. The experiment with one-year-old specimens also demonstrated similar water repellent characteristics, which indicates that the performance will improve once the paint has dried for a sufficient period of time.

  • 기존의 초고압 옥외절연물은 세라믹을 소재로한 porcelain이었지만 최근 신소재기술의 발달로 내열성, 내후성, 내트래킹성 등이 우수한 고분자 재료들이 개발됨에 따라 구미 선진국을 중심으로 이들의 전기절연물분야 적용이 크게 증가하고 있다. 인발(pultrusion)공법으로 glass fiber와 수지를 결합시켜 고강도 무결점의 FRP절연봉이나 tube를 만들 수가 있다. 절연물에서 요구되는 구조재로서의 기계적 특성은 FRP복합재료가 충족시킬 수 있는데 이러한 봉을 core재로 하여 절연물의 표면전기특성을 만족하도록 고무로 된 shed를 씌우고 양쪽 끝에 금구류를 부착하여 composite insulator를 만들 수가 있다. composite insulator는 여러개의 shed를 한번에 진공사출하거나 shed를 금형에서 찍어 조립하여 제작할 수가 있는데 지금까지 검토되어 온 어떤 고분자 절연물보다 특성이 우수하고 장점이 많기 때문에 상업적 가치를 인정받고 있다. 본 고에서는 옥외용 절연물의 절연성능과 섬락사고기구를 요약하고 고분자신소재 절연물인 composite insulator의 장점, 국내외 개발현황, 평가방법등을 정리하였다.

A Study on the Fashion Accessary Product Development by Use of Korean Traditional Hanji (Part I) -Physical Properties of the Korean Traditional Paper(Hanji) Treated with Silcone resin- (전통한지를 활용한 패션 악세서리 상품개발 (제1보) -실리콘 수지로 처리된 한지의 물성변화-)

  • There are attempts to utilize Hanji for apparel material, but, the reason that the strength and durability of Hanji decrease to a great extent in the wet condition, restricts the usability of Hanji. In order to improve the resistance against water, Hanji was treated with silicone type water repellent agents. The treatment was carried out by conventional pad-dry-cure method. The optimum treatment condition was obtained by varying the concentration of repellent agent, curing temperature and time. Water repellency was tested by spray rating method. Wet and dry tensile strength, tearing resistance and abrasion resistance were examined after the treatment. Flexural stiffness and wrinkle recovery angles of hanji were also measured. In result, the optimum condition of treatment was at resin concentration of 40g/l, catalyst concentration of 20g/l(half of resin concentration), curing temperature of 160$^{circ}C$, curing time of 120 sec. Flexural stiffness of Hanji was hardly increased and wrinkle recovery angle of Hanji was improved a little by resin treatment. After the treatment, in dry condition, tensile strength and tearing resistance were little changed but abrasion resistance was improved. In wet condition, tensile strength, tearing strength and abrasion resistance were improved.

Antimicrobial and Water Repellency Effect of Functional Cotton Fiber with ODDMAC(octadecyl dimethyl(3-triethoxy silylpropyl) ammonium chloride) (ODDMAC를 이용한 항균성 및 발수성 동시 발현이 가능한 기능성 면섬유)

  • In this study, cotton fibers were coated with a different weight percentage of octadecyl dimethyl(3-triethoxy silylpropyl) ammonium chloride(ODDMAC) to improve antimicrobial and water repellent properties. First, the ODDMAC dissolved in ethanol to prepare a solution. Then the cotton fibers were immersed in the ODDMAC/ethanol solution for 10 minutes at ambient temperature and dried at 80℃ for 3 minutes followed by curing. The treated cotton fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The treated cotton fibers revealed sufficient antimicrobial activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae(ATCC 4352) and Staphylococcus aureus(ATCCBAA-1707). The hydrophobic nature of the treated cotton fibers was characterized by contact angle measurement. The results showed that the cotton fibers treated with the ODDMAC showed excellent hydrophobic properties which improved to 121°.

A micro wind sensor fabricated using MEMS technology (MEMS 기술을 이용한 초소형 풍향 풍속 센서)

  • 기상관측 분야에서는 풍속센서의 소형화 요구가 커지고 있어 Air flow sensor를 이용한 MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical System) 풍향 풍속센서의 응용연구가 활발하다. MEMS 풍향 풍속 센서는 수 mm 크기를 가지면서도 바람의 세기와 함께 방향을 측정하여야 하는데, 센서 칩이 노출되어 있어 외부환경으로부터 영향을 받기 때문에 센서소자의 내오염성과 내구성 확보가 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 절연막으로 비점착성의 테프론 막을 적용하여 외부환경으로부터 영향을 줄일 수 있는 열감지 방식의 MEMS 풍향 풍속 센서 칩을 제작하였다. 테프론 코팅막을 이용한 풍향 풍속 센서는 0.1m/s의 resolution을 가지며, 최대 15m/s까지 측정이 가능하여, 오염에 강하고 발수성을 센서를 제작하였다.
