A Study on Using Rhetoric for Graphical Ideation Tools (수사법을 활용한 그래픽 발상툴 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest necessity of idea expression method suitable for people in our country and deduct Graphic Ideation method by grasping problems of existing idea expression method. The idea expression method (association stimulating method, conceptual shifting method, information combination method) used by many graphic designers is effective in suggesting initial keyword, but has difficulty in the course of deducting the concept. Though deduction of core keyword is important to develop as a concept, the course of separation, combination in keyword connection play an important role, and most of idea expression methods are unavailable for suggesting concrete method for the course. Also as most of idea expression methods were developed and delivered in English-speaking world, it is suitable in English-speaking world culture which has thinking focused on words, but people in our country, which have thinking focusing on narration, cannot consider difference in language thinking due to limitation in idea for each stage. This study deducted idea expression method suitable for emotion of people in our country by proving the value of this idea expression method with style of suggesting and demonstrating 4 hypotheses in order to make the course for easy connection, separation, combination of keyword deducted by existing idea expression method, as well as suggesting idea expression method design based on these hypotheses. This idea expression method used rhetoric so that it is suitable for people our country who are strong for narration expression.

  • 디자인 개발단계에서 가장 창조적인 부분은 아이디어 발상 단계로 아이디어를 구체화하는데 매우 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 많은 그래픽 디자이너들이 활용하고 있는 연상자극법이나 발상전환법, 정보조합법 등은 발상과정에서 초기 키워드를 제시하는데 효과적이지만 컨셉까지 도출해내는 과정에서 한계성이 있다. 컨셉으로 발전시키기 위해서는 핵심 키워드도 중요하지만 문장으로 정리되어야 보다 효과적인 비주얼로 표현할 수 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 키워드를 문장으로 만들어내는 발상툴에 대한 것으로 국문수사법을 활용하여 명제를 만들고 연상단어를 명제에 대입해 문장으로 만들어 내는 발상법을 제시한다.

  • This study is to help creative idea generation based on the theory of the 'reconstruction of character shape image elements', and aims to extrusion of creative and diverse shapes with combination of image elements upon computing creative image generation. In order to suggest the design generation methodology for the maximization of idea generation ability and to overcome restriction of thinking out of existing idea generation methodology, it has suggested the CGS(Character Generation System) that is a creative idea generation methodology identified and complemented the problem of the existing computerized idea generation(PDS with Proportion) method out of the preceded studies on the creative idea generation methodologies. this study is expected to have effectives as one method for idea generation or creative image generation assistance during the 3D character development process, and to serve as an assistance to overcome the restriction of the character shape image generation through diverse idea generations.

Proposal of a condensing & amplification method for conceiving a good advertising visual idea (광고비주얼의 아이디어발상을 위한 압축$\cdot$확장법의 제안)

  • There were several methods of conception in seeking a visul idea of the advertising design. However, such conventional methods had a tendency that the degrees of utilization and satisfation are lacking. Also, in a thumbnail sketch phase, there was a great tendency to seek an idea based on pictorial elements only and thus depended chiefly on the existing references. Accordingly, originality was not high. Further, under the background which any common methods of a designer and a copywriter, if they have effective. I would like to propose a visul idea conception method, a condensing & amplification method for maintaining a logical system of advertising intelligence and for facilitating creative visualization through a language-oriented approach. The condensing & amplification method is the method of conception, in which after an appeal point as per advertising intelligence is passed through sentence and phrase and then condensed with word, various variation for the word develop, and by selecting the most creative word of the results, the thumbnail sketch commences based on the results amplified with the phrases and sentences.

  • 소비자들이 상품에 대한 미학적인 측면을 점점 더 중요시 하게 됨에 따라 현대 디자인은 기존의 개념을 탈피하여 새롭고 부드러우며 유연한 감성이 요구되고 있다. 디자인의 궁극적인 목표가 '소비자의 꿈을 현실로 만들어 주는 것'이라면 이러한 목표에 이르기 위한 '창의적 아이디어발상' 은 디자이너가 갖추어야 할 가장 중요한 능력 중의 하나이다. 따라서 본 연구는 창의적 아이디어 발상법에 대한 선행연구의 프로세스와 방법론의 문제점을 파악하고, 이를 보완한 새로운 디자인 방법론을 제시하고자 한다. 이와 같은 연구목적을 이루기 위해 사례연구로써 컴퓨터를 이용한 창의적 아이디어 발상법을 제안하여 디자이너에게 실제 디자인현장에서 활용할 수 있도록 하며 창의적 아이디어발상법의 개발에 대한 효과와 새로운 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on the Creative Game Design Framework (창의적인 게임아이디어 발상에 관한 방법 연구)

  • The creativity is the important ability required to game designers. But there is few research for the definition of creativity and creative thinking method. This study suggests that what creativity is and how to use creative thinking methods in the game design. In the first, this study analyzes three types of creativity meaning: revolutionary creativity, evolutionary creativity and impromptu creativity. In the second, this study suggests that how to use thinking methods that are mind map, brainstorming, check list and etc. The game designer's creativity can be improved by the suggestion of this study.

  • Creativity, the ability to produce through imaginative skill, is pursued by all designers. However, originality does not refer to absolute novelty. In this age, information is shared and disseminated. Creation of works is an activity to re-establish all shared information and reorganize relationship among things. Therefore, a new design is a product of reorganization rather than originality. Moreover, designers can generate ideas different from each other because they individually espouse different system of knowledge. From such perspective, a very important task of designers is to explore methods of expanding design thinking that can enhance the ability to new connection among things in the process of assimilation and modification. The task can be carried out by identifying characteristics and limits of their unique system of knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to seek methods of expanding design thinking for efficient cognitive activities. In explaining human knowledge, this study applied semantic network, a method used in cognitive science for creating structure, and the method of expanding design thought was proposed by corresponding method of design conceptualization. By organizing, categorizing, and flexibly combining and modifying the methods of design thinking conceptualization and expansion generated by this study, strengths of each method were enhanced and limits of each method were overcome to enable more effective design thinking. In this study, the method of expansion was used when connecting of nodes cannot be sustained after using each method of conceptualization. By avoiding unique method of thinking through diversification and vitalization of conditional points, efficient design thinking was achieved. The value of this study lies in the fact that the proposed method of expanding thinking using the mechanism of network enhances the ability to establish new connections in the process of assimilation and modification.
