A semi-active MR damper landing gear is a damper that generates a fluid damping force and a magnetic field control damping force when the MR fluid passes through annular flow paths. In the case of MR fluid passing through annular flow paths, an incompletely developed flow inevitably occurs, causing an error in calculating damper inner forces including the fluid damping force. This error results in an inaccurate design of damper structural parameters and control gain selection, resulting in deterioration of dynamic characteristics and shock absorption performance of the landing gear. In this paper, we derived a mathematical model of an MR damper landing gear considering additional damping force generated in the entrance region of annular flow paths of the MR damper. If the mathematical modeling derived from this paper is applied to the design and optimization process of an MR damper landing gear, excellent performance of the MR damper landing gear is expected.

The present study deals with turbulent flow over a long train of fixed two-dimensional dunes, identical in size and shape. A detailed study was carried out by PIV over a range of flow depths in a fully developed region. The present study confirmed the global features of flow past a fired dune noticed in previous studies, i.e. the size and shape of the reverse flow, the mean velocity and turbulence profiles across the separated and attached flows. The turbulence and shear stress profiles reveal the presence of larger values along the line extending from crest to crest. At stations ahead of the dune crest, the presence of a peak in the streamwise turbulence profiles around y/h = 2 indicates the sustenance of turbulence generated in the separation zone of the previous zone which will be carried over to the next dune.

Considerable interest has evolved in the flow of non-Newtonian fluids in channels of noncircular cross section in compact heat exchanges. Analytical solution was developed for prediction of the flow rate and maximum velocity in steady laminar flow of any incompressible, time-independent non-Newtonian fluids in straight closed and open channels of arbitrary, but axially unchanging cross section. The geometric parameters and function of shear describing the behavior of the fluid model were evaluated for fluid flow among a bundle of rods arranged in triangular and square array. Numerical values of dimensionless maximum velocities, mean velocities, pressure-drop-flow parameters and friction factors were evaluated as a function of porosity and pitch-to-radius ratio.
The most dominant type of landslide in Korea is debris flows which mostly take place along mountain slopes during the rainy season, July to August. The landslides have been reported to begin activation when rainfall is more than 200mm within 2days. The debris flows are usually followed by translational slips which occur upper part of mountain slopes and they transit to debris flow as getting down to the valleys. Lithology, location, slope inclination, grain size distribution of soil, permeability, dry density and porosity have been proved as triggering factor causing translational slides. The triggering data taken from mapping are statistically analysed to get landslide potential quantitatively. Rock mass creeps mostly occur on well bedded sedimentary rocks in Kyeongsang Basin. Although the displacement of rock mass creep is relatively small about 1m, the creep can cause severe hazards due to relatively large volume of the involved rock mass. Examples are rock mass creep occurred in the mouth of Hwangryongsan Tunnel, in Chilgok and in Sachon in 1999. Although the direct factor of the creeps are due to slope cutting at the foot area, more attention is required A rotational slide occurring within thick soil formation or weathered rock is also closely related to bottom part of slope cutting. It is propagated circular or semi-circular type. Especially in korea, the rotational slide may be frequently occurred in Tertiary tuff area. Because they are mainly composed of volcanic ash and pyroclastic materials, well developed joints and high degree of swelling and absorption can easily cause the slide. The landslide among the Pohang-Guryongpo national road is belong to this type of slide.
The study area, Bonggil-ri, Gyeongju, SE Korea, is composed of Cretaceous sedimentary rocks, and Tertiary igneous rocks and dykes. A research on fracture developing history and density distribution was carried out on well exposed Tertiary granites. The fractures developed in this area have the following sequence; NW-SE trending duo-tile shear bands (set a), NNW-SSE trending extensional fractures (set d), WNW-ESE trending extensional or normal fractures (set b), NE-SW trending right-lateral fractures (set c), WNW-ESE trending reverse fault reactivated from normal faults (set e) and NW-SE trending left-lateral faults reactivated from shear bands (set a) under brittle condition. According to the result of fracture density analysis, the fracture density in this area depends on rock property rather than rock age, and also higher fracture density is observed around fault damage zones. However, this high fracture density may also be related to the cooling process associated with dyke intrusion as well as rock types and fault movement. Regardless of the reason of the high fracture density, high fracture density itself contributes to fluid flow and migration of chemical elements.

A numerical study was conducted to show the effect of aspect ratio on the analogy of the developing laminar flows between in orthogonally rotating straight duct and in a stationary curved duct of rectangular cross-section. In order. to clarify the similarity of two nows, dimensionless parameters (equation omitted) and Rossby Ro= $w_{m}$$\Omega$$d_{h}$, in a rotating straight duct were used as a set corresponding to Dean number, (equation omitted), and curvature ratio, λ=R/ $d_{h}$, in a stationary curved duct. Four. different aspect ratios A=0.25, 0.5, 2 and 4 were considered. Under the condition that the magnitudes of Ro and λ were large enough to satisfy the 'asymptotic invariance property' and the aspect ratio was larger than 1, there were strong quantitative similarities between the two flows such as flow patterns, friction factors, and maximum axial velocity magnitudes fur the same values of $K_{LR}$ and $K_{LC}$ . On the other hand, as the aspect ratio decreased below 1 (A=0.25 and 0.5), the difference of the secondary flow intensity between these two flows was enhanced and therefore the analogy of two flows was not so evident as that of the larger aspect ratio (A=2 and 4). 4).nd 4).
Groundwater flow in rock mass is controlled by the fractures developed in the area. So, the conductive fractures are very important for groundwater flow in crystalline rock. This study aims to find out the characteristics of the fracture distributed in granitic rock in the northern part of the Yusong area (latitude $36^{\circ}24'18"~36^{\circ}25'08",{\;}longitude{\;}127^{\circ}21'00"~127^{\circ}23'23"$). The electric and EM surveys were carried out in the site to delineate the fracture the fracture zones. Since geophysical survey provides non-unique solution, hydraulic data and dilling log data including BHTV scanning were used as complementary data to achieve the objective of this study. Electric survey(DC) arrays used are schlumberger and dipole-dipole arrays. VLF is used for EM survey. The main charcteristics of the fracture developed in the study aera are that fractures associated with basic dyke cut corss the main fracture zone in NNW and play an important role as hydraulic barrier. In trun, groundwater table in the upstream area is lower than that downstream area.

Applicability of the pressure gradient method which is formulated based on pressure gradient is verified against turbulent flow analysis. In the pressure gradient method, pressure gradient instead of pressure itself is obtained using continuity constraint. Since correct pressure gradient is found only when mass conservation is satisfied, pressure gradient method can reflect physics of flow field properly The pressure gradient method is formulated with semi-staggered grid system which locates each primitive variables on the same grid point but evaluates pressure gradient in-between. This grid system ensures easy programming and reflection of correct physics in analysis. For verifying applicability of this method, the pressure gradient method is applied to turbulent flow analysis with low Reynolds number $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$ model. Turbulent flows include fully developed channel flow, backward-facing step flow, and conical diffuser flow. Prediction results show that the pressure gradient method can be applied to turbulent flow analysis. However, the pressure gradient method requires somewhat long computation time. Proper way to find optimum under-relaxation factor, $\gamma$, is also need to be developed.
