  • Aminofuroxan derivatives 3 and 4 were prepared by the reaction of chlorofuroxan 2 with butyl and benzyl amines, respectively. E-beam mediated fragmentation of aminofuroxans 3, 4 in mass spectrometer was analyzed in a view of the corresponding alkyne formation.

  • Surface modification of hydrophobic polymeric materials to be hydrophilic or to have specific functional groups is of great importance for a diversity of applications of the materials. In this study, polyethylene (PE) film surfaces were modified by vapor phase photografting of hydrophilic vinyl monomers with different functional groups. The functional monomers were introduced on PE films by introducing the monomers in vapor phase using a vapor phase photografting apparatus designed by our laboratory. Functional monomers used were acrylic acid (negatively chargeable), acrylamide and allylalcohol (neutral), and allylamine and N,N-dimethyl aminopropyl acryamide (positively charged). The functional monomer-grafted PE film surfaces were characterized by the measurement of water contact angles and the attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The vapor phase photografting seems to be effective means for introduction of various functional groups onto polymeric substrates.

Optimization of Medium for Carotenoids Production by Arthrobacter sp. PAMC 25486 Using Response Surface Methodology (반응표면분석법을 이용한 Arthrobacter sp. PAMC 25486의 카로티노이드 생산배지 최적화)

  • This study was conducted to optimize the medium composition for carotenoid production in Arthrobacter sp. PAMC 25486 through response surface methodology (RSM). Using a Placket-Burman design, from which yeast extract, $MgSO_4$ and dextrose were identified as the significant factors affecting carotenoids production. RSM studies for carotenoids production by Arthrobacter sp. PAMC 25486 have been carried out for three parameters of yeast extract, $MgSO_4$ and dextrose concentrations. These significant factors were optimized by experiments and RSM, as 1 g/L yeast extract, 0.0879 g/L $MgSO_4$ and 1 g/L dextrose. The experimentally obtained concentration of carotenoid was 288 mg/L, and it became 2-fold increase on concentration before optimization.

  • This study was conducted to optimize the medium composition for cold-adaptive protease production of Enterobacteriaceae sp. by response surface methodology (RSM). Yeast extract, and TritonX-100 were identified as the significant factors affecting protease from one-factor-at-a-time method. RSM studies for optimizing protease production of Enterobacteriaceae sp. have been carried out for three parameters including yeast extract concentration, TritonX-100 concentration, and culture pH. These significant factors were optimized as 6.690 g/L yeast extract, 0.018 g/L Triton$^{TM}$ X-10, and pH 6.677. The experimentally obtained protease activity was 8.03 U /L, and it became 1.5-fold increase before optimization.

Optimization of Extraction Process Conditions of Aga Soybean Using Response Surface methodology (반응표면분석을 이용한 아가콩의 추출조건 최적화)

  • Response surface methodology was applied to determine the optimum extract conditions(extract temperature and time) for the high-quality Agakong beverage. The optimal roasting condition for Agakong was set at 250 ℃ for 30 minutes. As quality criteria of Agakong, pH, color values and isofavone contents with extract temperature and extract time, the probability value (p<0.01) demonstrated a high significance for the regression model. It was found that the higher the extraction temperature and the longer the extraction time, the higher the isoflavones content. The optimized conditions of extraction isoflavones from agakong were found to be optimized ratio of extraction temperature 99.5℃, extraction time 1.7 h and the maximum rutin yield was 10.63 ㎍/mL.

  • 실란, 실리카, 이산화티탄($TiO_2$) 광촉매의 sol-gel 반응을 통하여 자기세정 기능과 Cr-free 기능을 동시에 나타낼수 있는 친수성 자기세정 강판용 공중합체를 제조하여용융 아연 도금 강판위에박막으로 코팅하여 그 특성을 분석하였다. 코팅층의 상부에 위치한 TI층에 의하여 광활성화를 통한 친수성표면을 형성하였으며, 코팅표면에서의 수(水) 접촉각 측정결과 10도 이하의 초친수성 특성을 나타내었다.

Synthesis of Chromium Nitride and Evaluation of its Catalytic Property (크롬 질화물(CrN)의 합성 및 촉매특성에 관한 연구)

  • We synthesized phase pure CrN having surface areas up to $47m^2/g$ starting from $CrCl_{3}$ with $NH_{3}$. Thermal Gravimetric Analysis coupled with X-ray diffraction was carried out to identify solid state transition temperatures and the phase after each transition. In addition, the BET surface areas, pore size distributions, and crystalline diameters for the synthesized materials were analyzed. Space velocity influenced a little to the surface areas of the prepared materials, while heating rate did not. We believe it is due to the fast removal of reaction by-products from the system. Temperature programmed reduction results revealed that the CrN was hardly passivated by 1% $O_{2}$. Molecular nitrogen was detected from CrN at 700 and $950^{\circ}C$, which may be from lattice nitrogen. In temperature programmed oxidation with heating rate of 10 K/min in flowing air, oxidation started at or higher than $300^{\circ}C$ and resulting $Cr_{2}O_{3}$ phase was observed with XRD at around $800^{\circ}C$. However the oxidation was not completed even at $900^{\circ}C$. CrN catalysts were highly active for n-butane dehydrogenation reaction. Their activity is even higher than that of a commercial $Pt-Sn/Al_{2}O_{3}$ dehydrogenation catalyst in terms of volumetric reaction rate. However, CrN was not active in pyridine hydrodenitrogenation.

석탄회를 이용한 요오드화세슘의 포집특성 분석

  • 석탄화력발전소 폐기물인 석탄회와 요오드화 세슘의 반응특성을 DTA(Differential Thermal Analysis), TGA(Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis) 장치를 이용하여 분석하였다. 본연구에 사용된 석탄회는 85%의 실리카와 알루미나를 함유하고 있으며 Si/Al 몰비는 2.1 이었다. DTA와 TGA의 열분석 결과 CsI의 분해, 석탄회와 기체상 세슘의 반응 등으로 이루어져 있다. 석탄회와 CsI의 혼합물은 94$0^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 Pollucite 가 형성되었다. 반응생성물들의 SEM 분석결과 표면이 거칠며 bulky한 crystal 형태로서 구형의 석탄회와는 매우 다른 형상을 보였다. 석탄회는 요오드화세슘의 고정화를 위해서 적합한 알루미노규산염 원료물질들 중의 하나임을 확인하였다.

Changest in Electric Potentials of Leaf Surface Induced by Environmental Stimuli (환경자극에 따른 식물의 엽표면 전위포텐셜의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the changes of electric potentials of leaf surface induced by environmental stimuli in plant. The values of electric potentials varied with different intervals of light on and off, and light qualities and moreover, their changes were also varied according to the time of a day. Additionally, stimuli such as candle light, wind, or 5$^{\circ}C$ cool water spray also evoked considerable changes in leaf surface electric potentials and their signal patterns varied with species of plants tested. In frequency analysis of electric potentials, the distribution values by FFT were highest in 1-10 Hz frequency zone by the majority of stimuli. These results suggested that changes in leaf surface electric potentials depended upon plant species even though stimulus was the same and vice versa.

  • 반응표면분석에서 다반응값의 최적화 문제는 다반응값 최적화 문제보다 복잡하다. 이런 다반응값 문제에서 반응변수들이나 설명변수 상호간의 곤계나 중요성 등을 평가하는 것은 중요하다. 이러한 평가를 위하여 biplot가 유용한 그림도구로 쓰일 수 있다.
