The effect of medium composition on PLB formation and multiplication and shoot regeneration was studied to establish the micropropagation system of the tropical orchid Phalaenopsis. The highest frequence of PLB formation resulted from the VW medium with 1.2 times ion concentration, 1% sucrose, 1.5g/L PVP or 2.5g/L active charcoal, apple and potato extract and 4g/L gellan gum. The highest ratio of PLB multiplication was obtained from the VW medium with 2% sucrose, apple and potato extract and cotton plate. The shoot regeneration was the most effective with the hyponex medium with 3% apple, 3% potato and 4% banana extract.
The storage stabilities of philipines; bananas were investigated according to the storage pretreatments and packaging methods during 60 days storage at $13^{\circ}C$. The better storage stability was got in bananas packaged with $60\mum$ low density polyethlene(PE) film inside the carton box than those without inside pack. Radiation gave the adverse effects on effects on bananas was only 20 days. And Shelf-life of bananas in no inner pack was 20 days. Soluble solid content of bananas packaged with PE film was 17 Brix degree after 60 days storage, but that with no inner package was around 20 after 20 days. Color was below 3 in color chart after 60 days storage and hardness was rapidly decreased from 40 days in bananas packaged with PE film, but color was became to 3 color after 30 days and hardness was rapidly decreased after 20 days in bananas without inner package. rarcentage of deteriorated bananas were below 3% in PE films after 60 days strorage, but 100% after 40 days in bananas without inner package.

To examine the possibility of using Musa sapientum L. (Banana) leaf extract as a cosmetic raw material, banana leaves grown in Jeju Island were extracted with 70% ethanol. Polysaccharides present in banana leaf extract were discarded by precipitation with cold ethanol. Polysaccharide-discarded banana leaf extract promoted procollagen and COL1A1 gene expression, but inhibited matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 and MMP-2 gene expression in human skin fibroblasts when examined by real-time reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The active compound in banana leaves was identified by fractionation with various solvents. The chloroform fraction showed the highest anti-wrinkle efficacy and the active compound of chloroform fraction was identified as corosolic acid by NMR, FT-IR, EA, and HPLC-MS. In addition, banana leaf extract showed anti-oxidative efficacy with an IC50 value of 67.91 ppm, as determined by DPPH free radical scavenging assay. Finally, the anti-wrinkle efficacy of banana leaf extract-containing cream was confirmed by clinical tests. Based on these results, banana leaves could have an application as a cosmetic raw material with anti-wrinkle efficacy.
This paper introduces a system to reproduce the olfactory effect using the MPEG-V (ISO / IEC 23005) standard to verify the reliability of the fragrance used in the olfactory experiment Using the implemented system, with experiment participant wearing HMD(Head Mounted Display), we carried out one-to-one matching of aroma and scent object images, matching images of aroma and many scent objects, matching of aroma and fragrance object images, and analyzing distance preference. The results of the experiment showed that aroma of coffee, cocoa, banana, and peach aroma is suitable scent for testing. In case of coffee aroma with high matching accuracy, 10 ~ 20cm distance between smell and participant was more effective in image matching than 30cm. In the future, we can conduct the olfactory research for enhancing the sense of immersion and presence of virtual reality contents using the selected fragrance.
These experiments were conducted to investigate the substrate specificity, the hydrolysis products on the various carbohydrates and the hydrolysis rate on the various raw starches of the two purified glucoamylase produced by Rhizopus oryzae. Both of the glucoamylases hydrolyzed amylose, amylopectin, glycogen, soluble starch, pullulan, maltose, maltotriose, maltotetraose, maltopentaose, maltohexaose, maltoheptaose and maltooctaose, but did not act on ${\alpha}-cyclodextrin$, ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$, raffinose, sucrose and lactose. When the reaction mixture of glucoamylase and polysaccharides were incubated $37^{\circ}C$for 32 hours, glucoamylase I hydrolyzed amylopectin, soluble starch and amyloses completely, but hydrolyzing glycogen up to only about 88%. Glucoamylase II hydrolyzed the previous four polysaccharides up to about 100%. Both of the glucoamylases produced only glucose for various substrates and did not have any ${\alpha}-glucosyl$ transferase activity. Both of the glucoamylases hydrolyzed raw glutinous rice starch almost complety, wheras they acted on raw potato starch, raw green banana starch, raw arrow root starch, raw corn starch, raw yam starch and raw high amylose corn starch weakly. Glucoamylase II hydrolyzed raw starches at the higher rate than glucoamylase I.

This study was conducted to find out the commercial in vitro propagation methods through protocom-like bodies (PLB) induced from shoot tip culture of Miltonia spp. Among several culture media for induction PLB from shoot tip in Miltonia spp., MS basal medium was better than Hyponex, Vacin & Went basal medium and other media supplemented with natural additives. PLB's proliferation and differentiation in Hyponex medium including $20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ banana + $20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose(pH 5.2) was better than in MS medium. It was tendency that solid media showed higher PLB fresh weight than liquid medium or other cotton bridge culture. The dark culture for 1~2 weeks and adding $10{\sim}20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose on hyponex basal medium was the most effective to increase the PLBs growth and shoot number.
Under the "Positive List System (PLS)," a uniform limit of 0.01 mg/kg is applied if the agricultural product does not have a Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) for a pesticide. The purpose of this research is to conduct residual pesticide monitoring on tropical fruits distributed in Gyeonggi-do to investigate the effects of PLS and provide basic materials for establishing MRLs of residual pesticides for tropical fruits produced in Korea. By inspecting 120 tropical fruits distributed in Gyeonggi-do according to Multi-class pesticide multi-residue methods, we detected sevenfruits from threekinds of banana, mangoes, and kiwis with six different residual pesticides. Azoxystrobin and chlorpyrifos were detected from bananas, chlorfenapyr from mangoes, and chlorothalonil, iprodione, and procymidone from kiwis. A single case of chlorfenapyr and chlorothalonil was found with a mango and a kiwi produced in Korea, respectively, and by applying PLS we found that they exceeded the MRL of residual pesticide. Thus, it is necessary to set the MRL of residual pesticides for tropical fruits produced in Korea.

Pesticide residues in agricultural products in Korea were evaluated to create a data base to inform food policy. Pesticide residues were investigated in 17 commodities collected from 9 provinces in 2012. Our analytical method of multiresidue analysis, involved the analysis of individual recovery, linearity, limit of detection, and limit of quantitation of 60 pesticides in six matrices. The pesticides, including acetamiprid and forchlorofenuron, were evaluated in 358 agricultural samples by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry. Twenty three pesticides were detected from 67 samples. The results showed that the ratio of estimated daily intake to acceptable daily intake was 0.00009-0.0861% by the intake assessment, which means that residual pesticides in agricultural products in Korea are properly controlled.
An analytical method was developed for the determination of fenpropimorph, a morpholine fungicide, in hulled rice, potato, soybean, mandarin and green pepper using QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) sample preparation and LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry). The QuEChERS extraction was performed with acetonitrile followed by addition of anhydrous magnesium sulfate and sodium chloride. After centrifugation, d-SPE (dispersive solid phase extraction) cleanup was conducted using anhydrous magnesium sulfate, primary secondary amine sorbents and graphitized carbon black. The matrix-matched calibration curves were constructed using seven concentration levels, from 0.0025 to 0.25 mg/kg, and their correlation coefficient ($R^2$) of five agricultural products were higher than 0.9899. The limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were 0.001 and 0.0025 mg/kg, respectively, and the limits of quantification for the analytical method were 0.01 mg/kg. Average recoveries spiked at three levels (LOQ, $LOQ{\times}10$, $LOQ{\times}50$, n=5) and were in the range of 90.9~110.5% with associated relative standard deviation values less than 5.7%. As a result of the inter-laboratory validation, the average recoveries between the two laboratories were 88.6~101.4% and the coefficient of variation was also below 15%. All optimized results were satisfied the criteria ranges requested in the Codex guidelines and Food Safety Evaluation Department guidelines. This study could serve as a reference for safety management relative to fenpropimorph residues in imported and domestic agricultural products.
