  • 민어(Miichthys miiuy)는 농어 목 (Perciformes), 민어과(Sciaenidae), 민어 屬(Miichthys)에 속하고, 우리나라 서남해, 황해, 발해, 일본의 중부이남 및 동중국해에 분포하는 어류이다(Chyung, 1998; 김 등, 1994; Lee and Park, 1992). 민어 과에 대한 연구로는 동갈민어(Nibea mitsukurii)의 자치어 형태발달(Kinoshita and Fujita. 1988), 한국산 민어 科 어류의 분류학적 재검토(Lee and Park, 1992), 수조기(Nibea albiflora)의 초기생활사(Takita, 1974), 동지나해의 조기(Pseudosciaena manchurica)와 부세(Pseudosciaena croea)의 자치어 형태발달(Yamada, 1973) 등의 보고가 있지만 민어의 난 발생과정 및 자치어의 발달에 관한 연구는 아직까지는 없다. Development and Validation of Multiplex PCR Method for the Identification of Pagrus major and Sciaenops ocellatus (참돔과 홍민어 판별을 위한 Multiplex PCR 검사법의 개발과 검증)

  • Nowadays, with increase of seafood consumption, there have been increasing reports of defective seafood products. There have been incidents of red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) being sold as red seabream (Pagrus major). In this study, we sought to develop and validate species-specific PCRs to differentiate between P. major and S. ocellatus to prevent the sale of S. ocellatus as P. major. Primers for P. major were designed to bind 12s rRNA and those for S. ocellatus were designed to bind 16s rRNA. Multiplex PCR showed a 468 bp amplicon for P. major and a 181 bp amplicon for S. ocellatus. The limit of detection of P. major and S. ocellatus was present at 1 ng each. The developed primers were validated with 19 P. major samples of food items purchased through the internet. Using this monitoring method, the experimental results and tested species were in agreement. Hence, the developed multiplex PCR method is considered reliable to authenticate P. major and S. ocellatus.

  • 큰민어는 민어과 어류로서, 일본의 천엽현 이남에서 동중국해까지 분포하며, 전장 1.5m, 체중 30kg까지 성장하는 초대형 어류로서 육질이 백색인 고급어종으로 특히 겨울철에 맛이 좋다고 알려져 있다. 최근 들어 큰민어 종묘생산이 성공하면서 양식생산에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있는 실정이다. 양어사료의 영양성분중, 특히 해산어류에서 단백질이 차지하는 비율은 매우 높고, 사료원료중 단백질원료는 가격이 높아 양식대상어종의 최적 사료단백질함량 구명뿐만 아니라 에너지원으로 사용되는 탄수화물과 지질의 함량은 양어사료 설계시 반드시 고려되어야 할 영양소이다. Taxonomic Revision of the Family Sciaenidae (Pisces, Perciformes) from Korea (한국산(韓國産) 민어과(科)(농어목(目)) 어류(魚類)의 분류학적(分類學的) 재검토(再檢詞))

  • The taxonomic revision of the family Sciaenidae was made based on the specimens collected from the south-western coasts of the Korea from 1989 to May 1992. The family Sciaenidae from Korea was classified into 12 species belong to 8 genera : Pseudosciaena crocea, Pseudosciaena polyactis, Collichthys lucidus, Collichthys niveatus, Larimichthys rathbunae, Johnius grypotus ; Nibea albiflora, Nibea mitsukurii, Nibea diacanthus, Miichthys miiuy, Argyrosomus argentatus and Atrobucca nibe. Six species, previonsely reported as the family Sciaenidae from Korea, were transferred into different generic name or specific name : Pseudosciaena manchurica into P. polyactis ; Nibea goma into N. diacanthus ; into Miichthys miiuy ; Nibea argentatus into Argyrosomus argentatus ; Nibea nibe into Atrobucca nibe and Johnius belengerii into J. grypotus. The species Collichthys fragilis was identified as the same species of C. lucidus, based on the number of light organs just above abdominal midline, the shape of occipital crest and first spine of anal fin. Keys to genera and species are provided together with description and distributional data.

  • 홍민어, Sianops ocellatus는 미국 플로리다에서 멕시코 중부지역에 이르는 대서양 연안에 분포하며 160cm 까지 성장하는 대형종으로, 맛이 우수한 것으로 알려져 양식대상종으로 기대되고 있는 어종이다. 미국에서는 1980년 중반부터 종묘생산에 성공하여 산업화된 종으로 중국에서는 양식산업화 단계이다(국립수진흥원 1999). 홍민어는 미국의 캐롤리나주와(Paul A, 1993) 그리고 지중해에서(Diamant, 1998) 새로운 양식대상어종으로서 연구가 되고 있다. (중략)

  • This study investigated the seasonal changes of body composition and elasticity between wild and cultured brown croaker, Miichthys miiuy. The wild fish were analyzed and compared with cultured fish in moisture, crude protein, lipid, ash and many kinds of amino acids. Cultured fish was higher in moisture content and lower in crude lipid and protein content than those of wild one. The wild fish were more abundant in the total amino acid compositions than those of cultured one. As result E/A ratio there was a little significant differences between wild and cultured. In highly unsaturated fatty acid, EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) content of cultured fish were higher than wild one. On the other hand, the gel strength, max weight and hardness of wild fish were higher than cultured one.

Sanitary Quality Characterization of Commercial Salted Semi-dried Brown Croaker (시판 반염건 민어의 위생학적 품질 특성)

  • Salted semi-dried brown croaker, Miichthys miiuy, has been proposed as a palatable seafood in Korea due to its specific texture, taste, and nutritional content. This study was conducted to characterize the sanitary quality of commercial salted semi-dried brown croaker for the development of high quality salted semi-dried products. The chemical properties ranged from 64.2 to 77.1% (mean $74.7{\pm}3.5%$) for moisture content, from 2.1 to 9.5% for salinity, from 14.1 to 58.1 mg/100 g for volatile basic nitrogen, and from 19.1 to 107.2 meq/kg for peroxide values. The viable cell counts and Escherichia coli were 4.2~8.3 log(CFU/g) [mean: 6.2 log(CFU/g)] and 18>~4.6 log(MPN/100 g), respectively. The chemical and microbial results of commercial salted semi-dried brown croaker suggest that provisions should be established for development of high quality salted semi-dried products.

  • In order to examine the mesh selectivity and optimum mesh size of gill nets for croaker, Milichthys miiuy, the field experiments were carried out during Aug. 10 to 14, 2002 and Aug. 10 to 17, 2003 at the caostal area of Imja-Do, Shinan, Jeonnam province. The experimental fishing gears were used in two set of gill nets, which one set was consisted of 12 sheets of gill nets, and each set was connected alternatively 4 different sheets that were 129mm, 135mm, 144mm and 150mm in mesh size. The analysis of mesh selectivity curve was done by Kitahara's method. The results obtained are summerized as follows : 1. The total number of catch by the experimental fishing of gill nets for croaker was 719, and it was consisted of 526 croakers (73.1%), 168 blue crabs (23.4%), 17 harvest fishes (2.4%) and 8 other fishes (1.1%). 2. The value of maximum 1/m on the mesh selectivity curve was estimated at 6.91. 3. The value of 1/m on the 50% selection range was estimated at 5.62${\sim}$80.3, and the selection width was 2.41. 4. The optimum mesh size of gill nets for croaker was estimated 142mm, and the 50% selection range of total length of croaker was 798${\sim}$1,140mm.
