  • A Korean MP3player also has become complex multimedia device which can provide various functions such as DMB, image playback, radio, electronic dictionary, storage device, and Internet. However, these functions are not provided through one-time mediation. Therefore, studying which changes were made for obtaining or installing these functions and what made such changes possible will be a basis to approach the change factors of medium through medium. Ultimately, by enabling to access the factors of cultural and social changes through MP3player, the main point of this study, it will be a methodological attempt to study a social aspect through medium. This study approached re-mediation according to the genealogical change of MP3player. This study researched the change of media through mediation of MP3player, and approached the change in social contextuality through this. The factors for which a medium is changed are various, but in the change of MP3 player there is re-mediation of each medium in addition to technical change. That is, it is deemed that there are 're-mediation among devices' and 'socially contextual re-mediation' in the change through re-mediation of MP3player.

  • The possibility of metaverse system to be a catalyst for hyper-connected society will be dependent on the speed of connected technological development and its social utilization in the same manner as AI technology. Putting these technical realization processes in brackets, this paper focus on some philosophical-political issues in connection with cognitive-ecological changes in the future cinema which will be influenced by the complexive techno-socio couples of accelerated development of metaverse system. Generally speaking, essence of metaverse system seems to be the degree of immersion by technical accuracy, but is not true. In perspective of cognitive-ecology, flow degree of a picture or photograph is relied not on 'accuracy of representation' but on its message's contextual link-up. In this aspect, real potentiality of metaverse system shall be understood in the context of cognitive-ecological changes of human brain's multi-intelligence networking abilities(intersection of augmentation-simulation and outside-inside) which will be activated in the new structure of natural-social-technological coupling of metaverse system. These cognitive-ecological potentialities have been partially actualized in the cinematic process of tripod mimesis for the longest time, [real contradiction/conflicts (Mimesis-1) -->fictional solutions of cinema (Mimesis-2) --> selective interpretation of spectator's wish fulfillment (Mimesis-3) --> real change (Mimesis-1')]. Therefore metaverse's real potentiality must be considered to be dependent on the possibility of deepening and extending of cinematic circulation between real seperation/problems and ideal connection/solutions. In this context, advanced metaverse system can be compared as a modern technical version of ideal circulation of physics and metaphysics

  • HYBE Insight, opened in May 2021, is an exhibition space that visually displays and re-interprets the BTS Universe and its content. The space echoes the identity of BTS as an artist and the specificity of the cultural phenomenon they have generated. This study analyzes HYBE Insight's BTS exhibition by applying new museological theories and discourses. Based on a qualitative research methodology including literature review and observational method, the primary themes of the exhibition are follows: 1) a contextualized exhibition content presenting the identity of BTS and their music, 2) the role of the fandom Army's participation in (re) producing BTS content related to the characteristic of popular music museums, 3) the elements of convergence art and its contemporary implication, 4) and the illumination of cultural value in popular music museum management. As the pivotal theory of new museology suggests, investigating a specific exhibition based on each context it has created is significant. However, those studies, including exhibitions related to popular music/artists, were mostly developed in Western nations. In this respect, HYBE Insight's BTS exhibition provides considerable room to explore. In addition to the recent research on BTS, such as their convergent artistry, socio-cultural influence, the role of Army, and the characteristics of HYBE's content management, this article aims to contribute to the multifaceted research by scrutinizing the BTS exhibition content from the new museology perspective.

Media art that has been developed and expanded in step with the development of modern scientific technology has expressed the unique characteristics of comets such as their structure in the art as a motif, using technologies. This study describes the process of producing "Near by", an distance-recognition interactive media art. offering the audience a chance to create a tail of a comet as they close to it. changes the color of a LED structure representing the nucleus of a comet as the audience approaches it. At the same time, a video of a comet's tail is projected. Through this interaction, the audience will renew their perception on comets and emotionally interact with the art. This work capturing not only the formative characteristics of a comet, but also its forming process as a motif. Such composite way of expressing a motif could be presented as a possibility of extending the expression of the natural phenomenon in the future media art field.

  • This study was inspired by the issue that the fundamentals of education have been overlooked, as today's smart education policies established in the knowledge-based information society of the 21st century have only focused on building digital environment and its efficiency. To carry out the study, the media education of Germany, which is equivalent of Korea's smart education, was analyzed to obtain implications for Korea's smart education. In Germany, the media education has been managed by the country ever since the information society has begun. Since 2009, the media education has become a requirement for all schools in every state. Thus, the current media education policy of each state has been analyzed, which revealed the following common characteristics. 1) The media education is closely linked to existing curriculum and education, rather than being conducted separately with different standards. 2) The media education is being conducted in a democratic manner by actively reflecting the exemplary cases of school teachers, rather than following the instructions and guidelines from the government. 3) The media education deals with the character and identity of young students, based on their basic understanding of information society, which are essential for a successful life in the upcoming society. Unlike the first and second implication linked to the method and procedure of media education policy, the third implication is the basic purpose of media education, which is also the key implication of this study. The media education policy of Germany, which is being conducted with its own educational philosophy, offers significant implications for Korea's smart education policy. In Korea, the education only revolves around device-based environment innovation or content development. It should be noted that the purpose of smart education is developing smart individuals who can bring better, happier, and more successful society - rather than establishing a smart environment. Therefore, the focus of discussion on Korea's smart education that revolves around environment, infrastructure, device utilization, and contents development should be changed to the character and identity of students, which are required in the future smart era. That's when 'human-based' educational revolution, instead of 'device-based' classroom revolution can begin.

  • Social commerce is a combination of social media and shopping. Social commerce, based on Web 2.0 technologies, has the various potentials, which is the factor attracting customers. In Korea, collegians are more active user of social media, in turn, are estimated more active customer in social commerce context. Present research explored what made Korean collegians use social commerce with extending technology acceptance model(TAM) with word-of-mouth(WOM) and perceived enjoyment(PE). We found that WOM affected indirectly the intention to use(ITU) with mediating PE, in turn, PE has a positive effect on the all of constructs in TAM. Accordingly, TAM extended with WOM and PE is validated in social commerce context. Finally, based on the findings, implications and suggestions for future studies are discussed.

  • Rooted in the work of Pierre Bourdieu, the cultural intermediaries have recently developed as a focus of attention for the Anglo-saxon sociology of culture and cultural studies. This paper tries to critically examine the debate around the definition and role of cultural intermediaries. It also explores the applicability of the notion ‘cultural intermediaries’ to a changing digital mediascape. In the first part of the paper, I clarify the critical problematics inherent in the Bourdieusian conception which focuses on the function of cultural intermediaries for the ‘production of the belief’ in cultural goods. Consequently, I draw attention to the mediation and transformation process of ‘legitimate culture’ by critics in mass media as ‘new cultural intermediaries’. In the second part, I attempt to constitute a typology of cultural intermediaries, proposing the notion of ‘on-line cultural mediation’ and ‘on-line cultural intermediaries’. I also outline the characteristics of three different types (‘traditional’, ‘new' and 'on-line') of cultural intermediaries. I argue this new conception of cultural intermediaries can help to understand the complex power relations and their transmutation in various cultural fields under digital environment.

  • Humankind longed for an image like the sense of sight and has developed history of image on the basis of the will toward record and reproduction. A long period of time was required for accumulation of technology for reproduction of an object, but directing point has always been impression experienced by the 'eyes.' But it has not all been pointing in the realistic image. This study aimed to discuss about its process and directing point of the paradigm of image creation that has been continued together with progress of humankind based on the academic outcomes achieved by Platon. 'Mimesis' classified by Plato required techne how far it may be distant from 'Idea.' Techne went forward in the direction of securing rationality according to accumulation of civilization in the end and reality, the history of mimesis was the process toward 'realistic image' and 'fantastic image'.

  • Mukbang, which appeared through the new media platform in the early 2000s, reflected the life of the young generation who had to eat alone in the face of deteriorating socio-economic conditions. Many young people were able to watch Mukbang together, and gain comfort by establishing a virtual community of everyday life with those who suffered similar difficulties. Since then, Mukbang has evolved into various forms, reflecting the society and also accommodating the needs of viewers, and now it has become a global phenomenon, not just in Korea. Early research focuses on the phenomenon as a bizarre side that appears in the early stages rather than the growth and change of Mukbang, and deals with it in a limited way. This article critically examines these limitations, and examines how the growth and development of Mukbang interacted with the social change process, and how the uniqueness of Mukbang could emerge in the characteristics of the new media. Through this, we will be able to look at the context of the growth of Mukbang as a global phenomenon and the impact on the legacy media.

  • In this study, we consider the evolved interactivity at the Artificial Life Art beyond 'open interactivity' as 'closed relationship' between viewer/participant and artwork by immersive and interactive features of digital media art. In order to consider this evolved interactivity, we survey the theory of artificial life of which result of many studies like biology and computational science. And then we analysed characteristics related artistic context of artificial life at the autonomy and emergent behavior of artificial life. Especially, we research the artworks of interaction with ecologies and of living in outside(not in- silico) among the artworks of officially adopting an artificial life arts in 'VIDA : Art and Artificial Life International Awards'. And we are going to understand the relationship of emotional subjects between viewer/participant and artwork, and a step further to understand the diverse relationship of symbiosis and co-evolution of the technology and human.
