A Study on Influencing Factors of Elderly Consumers' Self-Efficacy in Internet Banking Usage: Exploring Moderating Effect of 60s and 70s (고령 소비자의 인터넷 뱅킹 사용 자기효능감의 영향요인에 관한 연구: 60대와 70대의 비교)

  • Recently, digital transformation in the financial industry has been accelerated, and it has become an important task to improve the level of utilization of Internet banking by elderly consumers, who are vulnerable to Internet use. Accordingly, this study analyzed 3,101 respondents in their 60s or older from the 11th year of the Media Panel Survey to identify demographic, experiential, and psychological factors that affect the self-efficacy of elderly consumers' usage of Internet banking. The main research findings are as follows. First, gender, education, occupation, and income were identified as demographic variables. Second, the Internet shopping experience was identified as an experiential factor. Also, concerns about information security, digital literacy, and high will for problem-solving were identified as psychological factors. Third, as a result of the moderating effect analysis on whether the experiential and psychological factors have different influences according to the group divided into the 60s and 70s, the effect on self-efficacy in the usage of the Internet was classified by age. The results of this study will be able to enrich the discussions related to the intention to utilize technology among elderly consumers by empirically revealing that there are characteristics that cause differences in financial behavior even within one group called the elderly.

Analysis of the relationship between the frequency of use of OTT services and life satisfaction for workers in the MZ generation (MZ 세대 직장인을 대상으로 OTT 서비스의 사용빈도와 삶의 만족도 간의 관계 분석)

  • This research multilaterally analyzed the frequency of use of OTT service and its effect on life satisfaction for office workers of the MZ generation using the survey data of the Korean Media Panel. Recently, the OTT service market has grown rapidly, but there is a lack of research on what changes these changes have brought to the lives of the MZ generation. In this research, the frequency of OTT service use was investigated according to the characteristics of workers in the MZ generation, and a research model was set up to test whether the frequency of use affects life satisfaction. In fact, the frequency of use varied according to the gender and age group of the MZ generation, and it was found that the frequency of use also affected life satisfaction. It has an academic contribution in that it was the first to study the relationship between media content use patterns and life satisfaction. In the future, additional research is possible not only on the frequency of use, but also on the type of OTT content and the time of use of OTT service.

The effects of poverty on school maladjustment and academic achievement mediated by parental monitoring and types of internet use (빈곤은 인터넷 활용에도 영향을 미치는가?: 빈곤이 부모의 지도감독과 청소년의 인터넷 활용유형을 매개로 학교부적응과 학업성취에 미치는 영향)

  • One of the most popular keywords in 21th century is "Information Society". Information Society improves the overall quality of human life, but increases the negative aspects such as internet addiction and digital divide. The purpose of this study is to understand the vicious cycle between socio-economic disparities and digital divide. This study analyzed the effects of poverty on school maladjustment and academic achievement and mediation effects by using parental monitoring and internet use types as mediators. Data were obtained from the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). Structural equation modeling was employed for statistical analyses. The result showed that poverty reduced parental monitoring and information-oriented type of internet use. Youth who used less information-oriented type showed more school maladjustment and less academic achievement. However, the relationship between poverty and entertainment-oriented type was non-significant. Thus, parental monitoring and the internet use types were one of the main pathways which can affect school maladjustment and academic achievement among youth in poverty. There was the possible vicious cycle between poverty and digital divide. Based on this study, we strongly suggest improvement of the media competence to solve the problem of digital divide among youth in poverty.

The Effects of Individual, Family, and Environmental Factors on the Self-Esteem of Adolescents in Korea (개인, 가족, 환경요인이 청소년의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The study examined the effects of individual, family, and environmental factors on adolescents' self-esteem. Individual factors were the adolescents' health status and their leisure activity experiences, while the family factors were families' socio-economic status(SES) and parenting styles. Three environmental factors focusing on the adolescents' school environment were studied, and they consisted of academic attachment, peer attachment, and teacher attachment. The study inquiries were as follows: which individual factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Which family factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Which environmental factors had an effect on the adolescents' self-esteem? Of all the factors considered in this study, which factors had the greatest effect on adolescents' self-esteem? This study used data from the 3rd Korean Child and Youth Panel survey of Korean students in the first grade of middle school, and the data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results were as follows: the most important factor that have an effect on adolescents' self-esteem was parenting style, while peer attachment, health status, and academic attachment were also found to significantly affect adolescents' self-esteem. In the conclusion, the researchers suggest various strategies based on results of the analysis to improve adolescents' self-esteem.

The Effect of Privacy Concerns on Using Mobile Payment Services: Moderating Effect of Multidimensional Consumer Innovativeness (프라이버시 우려가 모바일 간편결제 서비스 이용에 미치는 영향: 소비자 혁신성의 다차원적 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of privacy concerns on the use of mobile payment services. In particular, paying attention to the multidimensionality of consumer innovation, we analyzed the effects of hierarchical logistic regression by gender. The results show that there is a positive (+) relationship for hedonic innovativeness regardless of gender, and that there is a negative (-) relationship for functional innovativeness overall and in the female group. In all groups regardless of gender, a positive (+) relationship was found for the hedonic innovativeness, and one negative (-) relationship was found in the functional innovativeness overall group and the female group. Second, in the male group, there is a moderating effect of privacy concerns and functional innovativeness. This suggests that the relationship between privacy concerns and the usage of mobile payment services may vary depending on functional innovativeness. This study is useful in that it can explain and predict consumers' patterns of use of new technology-based services in various and balanced ways by taking privacy concerns and multidimensional consumer innovation into consideration. In addition, it suggests that mobile payment companies should make efforts to ensure that their services are secure, useful, and fun to use so that consumers can feel confident using the services in various situations.
