A Study on the Cutting Resistance Characteristics of Hardended Steel according to Engagement Condition (물림조건에 따른 경화강의 절삭저항 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This thesis is concerned with the study on the characteristics of the cutting resistance occurring in finish machining of hardened steels such as carbon tool steel and alloy tool steel by a ceramic tool with nose radius. For the purpose, the shape of cutting cross-section made at nose part of the tool was analyzed geometrically and the wear mechanism on the flank face of the ceramic tool is investigated. In order to investigate the characteristics of cutting resistance two categories of cutting conditions are suggested, along with geometrical analysis. One category includes the conventional cutting parameters such as feed and depth of cut, another containing new cutting parameters of thickness of cut and width of cut etc. Thickness of cut width of cut and area of undeformed chip section formed by the condition of engagement between workpiece and cutting tool are determined as the function of feed, depth of cut and nose radius of cutting too, And an effective approach angle is determined by depth of cut and nose radius.

  • In turbo-machines operated at high speeds through gear speed increasers a precise coupled analysis of lateral and torsional vibrations is required to achieve highly reliable designs with low vibration and low noise levels, where the vibration coupling is due to the gear pair mesh stiffness. In this paper, applying the generalized coupled lateral-torsional finite element model of a gear pair element, has been analyzed a coupled lateral-torsional vibration of the prototype 800 RT turbo-chiller rotor-bearing system with a bull-pinion gear speed increaser. Results have shown that the coupled torsional natural frequencies have decreased due to the coupling effect of lateral vibration and particularly, the 2nd torsional natural frequency and its mode shape have had big changes. However, changes of lateral vibration characteristics have been noticed only at high lateral whirl natural frequencies above 15,000 rpm.

A Study on Noise Reduction for an Industrial Right-angled Reducer (산업용 직각형 감속기의 소음 저감에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, noise sources of a reducer which is combined a spiral bevel gear and a planocentric gear are identified by experimental method and the noise was reduced by the structure modification of the reducer. In order to identify the noise sources, noise and vibration signals were measured by microphone and accelerometer and these signals were analyzed with waterfall plot. In addition, the frequency response functions were obtained to prove the noise and vibration sources. It was found that the resonance was generated by the gear mesh frequencies and natural frequency of the reducer. The noise of the reducer could be reduced by structure modification.

  • The cutting force for peripheral end-milling considering run-out property was estimated and its result was compared with that of measured one. An experimental coefficient modelling was used for the formulation of theoretical end-milling force by considering the specific cutting force coefficient. Also, the specific cutting force, that is the multiplication of specific cutting force coefficient and uncut chip thickness, was used for the prediction of end-milling force. The end-milling force mechanics with run-out was presented for the estimation of theoretical force in peripheral end-milling by considering the geometric shape of the workpiece part. As a result, the estimated end-milling force shows a good consistency with the measured one. And it can be used for the prediction of force history in end-milling with run-out which incurs different start and exit immersion angle in entering and exiting condition.

  • The calculation of the total power required at the Continuous Extrusion Forming(CONFORM) has been performed by the theoretical analysis of three transformation regions(primary grip length and extrusion grip length, flashing). In this study, that was performed by five transformation regions(biting, upsetting, filling, extruding, flashing)and four transformation regions(biting, upsetting and filling, extruding, flashing) and then results of theoretical analyses were compared with experimental results. Results of analysis by four and five transformation regions than that of three transformation regions in the CONFORM showed in a good agreement with experimental results.

  • 연삭작업에 있어서 요구되는 가공능률과 가공정밀도를 얻기 위해서는 적절한 결합도를 갖는 연삭숫돌을 선택하 는 것이 중요한 요건이 된다. 본 연구에서는 결합도를 평가하기 위한 일정한 기준을 설정할 목적으로 AE계측 시스템을 이용하여 대월식결합도시험방법에 따라 연삭숫돌표면의 일부를 파괴시켰을 때 발생되는 AE신호를 검출 하고 연삭숫돌의 파괴량과 AE 신호특성과의 관계 및 AE를 이용한 결합도평가의 가능성을 검토하였다.

  • 파워시프트는 동력전달의 단속 없이 변속할 수 있는 변속 방식이다. 기어는 동기 물림식으로 되어 있으며, 유압 클러치를 통하여 주행 중에도 동력의 흐름을 제어할 수 있다. 주요 구성 요소는 동력 흐름을 제어할 수 있는 유압 클러치와 동력을 전달하는 기어 조합이며, 유압 클러치는 피스톤, 리턴 스프링, 디스크, 플레이트 등으로 구성되어 있다. 접속 시에는 유압 피스톤이 리턴 스프링을 압축하며 전진하여 플레이트와 디스크에 수직력을 가하고 이를 결합시켜 동력을 전달한다. 해제 시에는 리턴 스프링에 의하여 피스톤이 후퇴하고 동력이 차단된다. 이때 유압 제어 시스템은 최대 견인 부하에서도 변속을 원활하게 하기 위하여, 클러치 압력을 이용해 변속 중 작동 클러치의 토크를 정교하게 제어한다.   • A gearbox can be regarded as a self-exciting dynamic system, which has a vibration source. Transmission error (TE) is considered to be an main excitation source for gear noise and vibration. The TE excitation is transmitted through the gears, shafts, bearings, and housings. Thus, an experimental approach to each mechanical parts is useful in order to understand and evaluate the dynamic behaviour of a gearbox. This study is focused on the transmission and vibration characteristics of a helical gear system in development stage. In addition, by considering the tolerance factors and resonance characteristics, the vibration response of actual dynamic system is analysed.

  • Korea is the best country for ship-building. But nowadays, the speedboat and yacht are not mostly developed yet. For the sleek lines of ship, more innovative transmission system should be obtained in the ship industry. In general, marine transmissions often use the straight shafts and the helical gears. So it makes problem that engine-room requires large space. In this case, conical gear is the best solution for this. Until now, technology of conical gear is not generalized, but it will be increased more through many applications. So, in order to get conical gear design technology by ourselves, this thesis is conducted. This paper was written to gain useful information of marine gearbox design applied conical gear through the measurement of backlash, computer analysis and tooth contact test of helical conical involute gear pairs.
