A Study on the Effect of Collaborative Instruction Between a Teacher Librarian and a Korean Language Teacher on a Middle School Student's Learning Interest and Academic Achievement (사서교사와 국어교사의 협동수업이 중학생의 학습흥미와 학업성취도에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to find out the impact of collaborative instruction between the teacher librarian and the classroom teacher on learning interest and academic achievement by running Library and Information Life, which is the textbook of information literacy for teacher librarians and the Korean language curriculum for the first grade of middle school through library-based instruction. The result of this study has a positive influence on academic achievement by facilitating learning interest on Korean language classes under coplanning, co-operating and coevaluating in the school library. Therefore, it is important to establish the institutional system for collaborative instruction in order to increase information literacy instruction in the school community. A local school should expand the physical environment and educational equipment of its school library and form a flexible schedule to have enough time for teaching information literacy skills and for using of materials.

  • 면적강우량은 수치예보모형(NWP; Numerical Weather Prediction)이나 분포형 강우유출모형 등에서 가장 중요한 입력변수이다. 기상레이더는 광범위한 시공간분해능을 지닌 강우관측기기로서 널리 이용되고 있다. 레이더 반사도 자료를 이용한 강우추정에 대한 연구는 Z-R 관계식을 이용한 방법, 지상우량계와 연계한 통계적인 방법 등 다양하게 전개되어 왔다. 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 Marshall and Palmer(1948)가 제시한 Z-R 관계식은 층운형 강우에는 비교적 타당한 결과를 얻을 수 있지만 적운형 강우에 대해서는 그러하지 못하다. 또한 지상우량계와 연계한 방법은 주로 geostatistic 기법(ordinary kriging, co-kringing, kriging with external drift 등)을 사용하지만, 배리오그램(variogram)을 작성해야 되는 등 계산절차가 복잡하고 시간이 많이 걸려 실무에 적용하여 실시간으로 강우정보를 제공하기에는 다소 무리가 따른다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 지상우량계로 관측된 강우량과 레이더 추정강우 사이의 보정계수를 이용한 실시간 Z-R 관계식으로 레이더강우를 추정할 경우 발생될 수 있는 문제점들을 제시하고 개선방안을 모색하여 보다 정확한 레이더 강우를 추정하고자 하였다. 연구 대상지역은 부산레이더 반경 240km 이내 지역이며, 강우사상으로는 2002년 8월 31일 (태풍 "루사")의 레이더 반사도 자료를 이용하였다. 또한, 지상관측 강우량자료는 AWS(Auto Weathering System) 중에서 부산레이더 관측범위 내에 존재하는 68곳의 1시간 누적강우량을 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 기존의 실시간 Z-R 관계식을 이용할 경우 단순히 지상우량계와 레이더 강우 사이의 보정계수를 사용하면서 물리적인 범위를 벗어나 과대 추정되는 결과를 발생시켰다. 본 연구에서는 이렇게 과대 추정되는 부분을 제한함으로써 보다 현실적이고 타당한 면적강우량을 산정할 수 있었다.

A Microstructural Design and Modeling of Neutron-Irradiated Materials (중성자 조사재의 미세구조 설계와 모델링)

  • A material changes its physical and chemical properties through the interaction with radiation and also the neutrons, which is electronically neutral so that the penetration depth is relatively deeper than that of other radioactive way including alpha or beta ray. Therefore, the radiation damage by neutron irradiation has been intensively investigated for a long time with respect to the safety of nuclear power plants. The damage induced by neutron irradiation begins with the creation of point defects in atomic scale in the unit of picoseconds, and their progress pattern can be characterized by microstructural defects, such as dislocation loops and voids. Their morphological characteristics affect the properties of neutron-irradiated materials, therefore, it is very important to predict the microstructure at a given neutron irradiation condition. This paper briefly reviews the evolution of radiation damage induced by neutron irradiation and introduces a phase-field model that can be widely used in predicting the microstructure evolution of irradiated materials.

  • Pharmaceutical use accounts for a great part of articles and papers on crosslinking of polymers. Crosslinking of polymers used for tissue engineering and drug delivery respects non-cytotoxicity and in situ gelling. The crosslinking of polymers is aimed not only at the improvement of modulus, chemical resistance, and thermal resistance, but also at endowing them with such functions as metal adsorption, antifouling, and ion exchange via crosslinked segments. Smart polymers responding to environmental change, and cosslinking mediated by light, enzyme, natural compound and in aqueous medium in consideration of environment are being studied. Developing new polymeric materials is essential along with the pharmaceutics aiming at the longevity of 120 years old. Functionalization and property adjustment of polymers through crosslinking will be done more delicately. Hydrogels will be focused on injectable and in situ gel forming. In the coating industry crosslinking system with low non-toxicity and low energy consumption will be developed in consideration of workers and environment.

Shallow Subsurface Structure of the Yaksoo Area, Ulsan, Korea by Geophysical Surveys (물리탐사기법에 의한 울산광역시 약수지역 천부지하구조 조사)

  • The location and geometry of the Ulsan Fault play important roles in interpreting tectonic evolution of the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula. Dipole-dipole electrical resistivity surveys and seismic refraction surveys were carried out in the Yaksoo area, Ulsan in order to measure the thickness of the alluvium covering the Ulsan Fault and to find associated fracture zones and possibly the location of its major fault plane. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted. Some results reported previously by others were also used in this interpretation. No low resistivity anomalies were found in the cross-sectional resistivity image of the survey line located in the east of the Dong River. In contrast, well-developed continuous low resistivity anomalies were detected in the west of the Dong River. This strongly suggests that the major fault plane of the Ulsan Fault is located under or in the west part of the Dong River. Two refraction boundaries corresponding to the underground water level and the bottom of the alluvium were found by refraction surveys carried out on the limited part of the east survey line. The thickness of the alluvium was found to be about 30 m. Small faults in the basement rock identified by reflection surveys were not detected by both resistivity and refraction seismic surveys. This might be explained by assuming that low resistivity anomaly is more closely related to the clay contents than the water contents. On the other hand, it may be resulted by the limited resolution of the resistivity and refraction surveys. Detailed study is required to clarify the reason. Resistivity survey is frequently considered to be a good exploration method to detect subsurface faults. However, it appears to be less useful than reflection seismic survey in this work. In dipole-dipole resistivity survey, the number of separation should be increased to survey deeper subsurface with the same resolution. However, signal to noise ratio decreases as the number of separation increases. In this survey area, the signal to noise ratio of up to sixteen separations was good enough based on the statistical properties of measurements.

Simulation of eccentricity effects on short- and long-normal logging measurements using a Fourier-hp-finite-element method (Self-adaptive hp 유한요소법을 이용한 단.장노말 전기검층에서 손데의 편향 효과 수치모델링)

  • Resistivity logging instruments are designed to measure the electrical resistivity of a formation, and this can be directly interpreted to provide a water-saturation profile. However, resistivity logs are sensitive to borehole and shoulder-bed effects, which often result in misinterpretation of the results. These effects are emphasised more in the presence of tool eccentricity. For precise interpretation of short- and long-normal logging measurements in the presence of tool eccentricity, we simulate and analyse eccentricity effects by combining the use of a Fourier series expansion in a new system of coordinates with a 2D goal-oriented high-order self-adaptive hp finite-element refinement strategy, where h denotes the element size and p the polynomial order of approximation within each element. The algorithm automatically performs local mesh refinement to construct an optimal grid for the problem under consideration. In addition, the proper combination of h and p refinements produces highly accurate simulations even in the presence of high electrical resistivity contrasts. Numerical results demonstrate that our algorithm provides highly accurate and reliable simulation results. Eccentricity effects are more noticeable when the borehole is large or resistive, or when the formation is highly conductive.

Seismic Structures of the Continental Margin around Smith Island, antarctic Peninsula (남극반도 스미스섬 부근 대륙주변부의 탄성파 구조)

  • Using seismic profiles obtained in the Antarctic Peninsula continental margin around Smith Island located at the southwestern end of the South Shetland Islands, we investigated sediments distribution, sedimentation, continental shelf formation, and tectonic evolution history. The study area is a very unique area that has two tectonic provinces with a tectonic boundary near Smith Island just the landward projection of the Hero Fracture Zone (HFZ). To the southwest of the Island, the margin became inactive margin after the collision of the ridge crest of the Antarctic-Phoenix ridge and trench, whereas to the northeast the margin is still apparently active margin with the spreading center and trench morphology in the sea. Generally the northeastern margin has the shelf sedimentary basins wth thick sedimentary layers, well-developed forearc basin, broad continental slope and distinct trench morphology, and the southwestern margin is characterized by steep and narrow continental slope and localized shelf basins. the mid-shelf basement high structures are distinct in the southwestern margin, which are thought to be formed by thermal effect caused by the subducted spreading centers. The high is observed in the area just northeast of the Island, implying that the tectonic boundary along the landward projection of the HFZ is not sharply defined.

A Comparative Analysis of Complex Disaster Research Trends Using Network Analysis (네트워크 분석을 활용한 국내·외 복합재난 연구 동향 분석)

  • Purpose: As the connection between physical and non-physical structures in cities is expanding and becoming more complex, the risk of complex disaster which causes damage in a complex way is increasing. Preparing for these complex disasters, it is important to preemptively identify and manage disasters that can develop into complex disasters. Therefore, this study analyzes the disaster types studied as complex disasters by analyzing the trends of domestic and international studies related to complex disasters, and presents the direction of complex disaster management in the future. Method: We first established co-occurrence networks between disaster types based on 993 articles related to complex disasters published in disaster-related journals for the last 20 years (2002-2021). Then, through network analysis, domestic and international complex disaster research trends were compared and analyzed. Result: Research on complex disasters related to storm and flood damage, infrastructure failure and fire was high in domestic studies, and it was analyzed that research on complex disasters related to earthquakes and landslides has recently increased. However, in international studies, the proportion of studies on infrastructure failure along with storm and flood damage and earthquake was high, and various types of disasters such as tsunami and drought appeared. Conclusion: The results of this study are expected to increase the understanding of the trends in complex disaster research and provide suggestions of domestic complex disaster research in the future.

  • Dissolution of magnetite powders by 0.05 M citric acid was investigated at $50^{\circ}C$. All the tests were performed in the pH range between 2.0 to 5.0, which was adjusted using nitric acid or sodium hydroxide. Concentration of each of the dissociated chemical species of citric acid under various solution pHs was calculated using the ionization constants. Variation of zeta potential of magnetite with pH changes was also investigated. The dissolution reaction was explained by comparing the concentration of the dissociated chemical species of citric acid with the zeta potential. Longer than 3 h of induction time was required to dissolve the magnetite. The dissolution behaviour of magnetite was well described by the equation. The physical meaning of each parameter was explained successfully from the model equation.

  • The nonlinear hydrodynamic pressure force and moment on hinged wavemakers of variable-draft are presented. A closed-form solution (correct to second-order) for the nonlinear wavemaker boundary value problem has been obtained by employing the Stokes perturbation expansion scheme. The physical significance of the second-order contributions to the hydrodynamic pressure moment are examined in detail. Design curves are presented which demonstrate both the magnitude of the second-order nonlinearities and the effects of the variable-draft hinge height. The second-order contributions to the total hydrodynamic force and moment consist of a time-dependent and a steady part. The sum of the first and second-order pressure force and moment show a significant increase over those predicted by linear wavemaker theory. The second-order effects are shown to vary with both relative water depth and wave amplitude. The second-order dynamic effects are relatively more important for hinged wavemakers with shallower drafts.
