Numerical Simulation of Flows inside the Various Rooms for Performance Assessment of Air Cleaning System (공기청정 시스템 성능예측을 위한 실내 유동현상에 관한 수치모사)

  • ln this paper, flowfields inside the various rooms have been investigated. A storage room, a liv-ingroom with a kitchen in an apartment, and a hospital room are considered in the present calculations. In all cases, it was found that the average of air change rate is. similar to that of perfect mixing assumption and the location of air purifier has little effects on the average air change rate. Detailed local air concentrations show that there are regions where air is not quite purified because of non-uniform circulation of air flow. The location of air purifier has great effects on this behavior.

  • A realization for automatic stock cubic measuring and distributing management embedded system with 3 dimensional ultrasonic sensing is presented in this paper. The height and width of cubic are measured by comparing the 3 values from 3 ultrasonic sensors with reference when an object is passing the conveyer and length is calculated by the passing time and velocity, compensate cubic values for error to vary with the environment temperature, and reduce the error by averaging the sensing data not to be right posture of object. The system enables to classify and load a packed stocks at the store and transportation practically based on the rectangular hexahedral objects.

  • Companies are pursuing the management of small quantity batch production or JIT(Just-in-time) system for improving the delivery response and LOB(Line Balancing) in order to satisfy consumers' increasing demands in the current global economic recession. And in order to improve the growth of production for reducing manufacturing cost, improvements of the Load Balancing have become an important reformation factor. Thus this paper is aimed at warehouse which procures materials on the assembly line in procurement logistics of automotive logistics and proceed with research on heuristic algorithm development which can increase the Load Balancing of workers. As a result of this study, when applied the primary target value, it was verified that the whole workers decreased from 28 to 24. Furthermore, when specified the secondary target value and applied algorithm once more, it was verified that the Load Balance Ratio was improved from 44.96% to 91.7%.

  • This paper proposes an operator-centric velocity generation and control algorithm for differential-drive mobile robots, which are widely used in many industrial applications. Most of the previous works use a robot centric velocity generation and control for the operators to control the differential-drive mobile robots, which makes the robot control difficult for the operators. Such robot-centric control can cause the increase of accidents and the decrease of work efficiency. The experimental results with a real differential-drive mobile robot testbed demonstrate the efficiency of operator-centric mobile robot control.

  • The important goal of the unmanned vehicle technology is on controlling the direction and speed of the vehicle with information acquired from various sensors, without the intervention of the driver, until the vehicle reaches to its destination. In this paper, our focus is on developing an unmanned conveyance system by exploiting low-cost sensing technology for indoor factories or warehouses, where the moving range of the vehicle is limited. To this end, we propose an architecture of a scalable automated conveyance system. Our proposed system includes a number of unmanned conveyance vehicles, and the efficient control mechanism of the vehicles without neither conflicts nor deadlock between the vehicles being simultaneously moved. By implementing the real prototype of the system, we successfully verify the efficiency and functionality of the proposed system.

  • 본 논문은 물류창고와 같은 실내 공간에서 RFID와 초음파 센서등을 이용하여 이동로봇이 자율적으로 자신의 위치를 파악하고 관리자가 지정한 목표 물체를 인식하여 간단한 업무를 보조할 수 있는 기법을 제안한다. 실내공간엔 RFID를 지면과 목표물체에 설치하고 로봇은 RFID의 리더기와 물체 접근시 활용이 가능한 추가적 센서를 갖춤으로써 이동시 자기 위치를 실시간으로 파악하고 물체로부터도 고유정보를 얻는다. 초음파 센서 신호의 귀환시간을 활용하여 근접한 물체와의 상대 거리를 추출하고 바닥의 RFID로부터 이미 획득한 자기 위치를 조합하여 목표 물체의 절대 위치를 구한다. 이는 이동 로봇을 중심으로 한 경로지도를 실시간으로 작성하며 동시에 실내의 이동 가능 구조 및 목표 물체의 파악이 가능하여 이동로봇의 자율적 탐색을 위한 최적 경로 계획 수립에 활용 가능하다.

A Simulation Evaluation of Aisle Design and Operation Policies for an Automated Storage and Retrieval System with Narrow-/Wide-Width Racks (다품종 조립라인 자동화 물류창고의 이형 랙 배치 및 운영정책 시뮬레이션 평가)

  • In an automotive plant, an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) synchronizes material handling flows from a part production line to an auto-assembly line. The part production line transfers parts on small-/large-sized pallets. The products on pallets are temporarily stored on the ASRS, and the ASRS retrieves the products upon request from the auto-assembly line. Each ASRS aisle is equipped with narrow-/wide-width racks for two pallet sizes. An ASRS aisle with narrow-/wide-width racks improves both storage space utilization and crane utilization while requiring delicate ASRS aisle design, i.e., the locations of the narrow-/wide-width racks in an ASRS aisle, and proper operation policies affect the ASRS performance over demand fluctuations. We focus on operation policies involving a common storage zone using wide-width racks for two pallet sizes and a storage-retrieval job-change for a crane based on assembly-line batch size. We model a discrete-event simulation model and conduct extensive experiments to evaluate operation policies. The simulation results address the best ASRS aisle design and suggest the most effective operation policies for the aisle design.

Strategies for Activating the Gwangyang Region as a Logistics City (광양지역의 물류도시 발전 전략의 우선순위에 관한 연구)

  • This primary purpose of this study is to suggest strategies for developing the Gwangyagn region as a logistics city. In order to achieve such purpose, the following methodology is used. First, the literature survey on papers, related-organization's homepage, reports and journals related to Gwangyang Bay and Gwangyang port. Second, an pilot survey and field survey for suggesting SWOT analysis are carried out. Finally, questionnaire survey using a AHP analysis technique is distributed and analyzed. The strategies for developing as a logistics city are suggested as followings. First, ST strategy such as the development of the international hinterland logistics center related to the port logistics function is considered as the most important factor and followed by ST strategy, WT strategy and WO strategy. Second, creation of the revenue-creating logistics business model is to be considered as the most important factor and followed by development of the international hinterland logistics center related to the port logistics function, operation of the logistics center, creating high value-added of free trade area etc. For further research, more concrete and empirical study have to be carried out.

A Study on Forecasting Manpower Demand for Smart Shipping and Port Logistics (스마트 해운항만물류 인력 수요 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Trend analysis and time series analysis were conducted to predict the demand of manpower under the smartization of shipping and port logistics with transportation survey data of Statistic Korea during the period from 2000 to 2020 and Statistical Yearbook data of Korean Seafarers from 2004 to 2021. A linear regression model was adopted since the validity of the model was evaluated as the highest in forecasting manpower demand in the shipping and port logistics industry. As a result of forecasting the demand of manpower in autonomous ship, remote ship management, smart shipping business, smart port, smart warehouse, and port logistics service from 2021 to 2035, the demand for smart shipping and port logistics personnel was predicted to increase to 8,953 in 2023, 20,688 in 2030, and 26,557 in 2035. This study aimed to increase the predictability of manpower demand through objective estimation analysis, which has been rarely conducted in the smart shipping and port logistics industry. Finally, the result of this research may help establish future strategies for human resource development for professionals in smart shipping and port logistics by utilizing the demand forecasting model described in this paper.

Mapless Navigation Based on DQN Considering Moving Obstacles, and Training Time Reduction Algorithm (이동 장애물을 고려한 DQN 기반의 Mapless Navigation 및 학습 시간 단축 알고리즘)

  • Recently, in accordance with the 4th industrial revolution, The use of autonomous mobile robots for flexible logistics transfer is increasing in factories, the warehouses and the service areas, etc. In large factories, many manual work is required to use Simultaneous Localization and Mapping(SLAM), so the need for the improved mobile robot autonomous driving is emerging. Accordingly, in this paper, an algorithm for mapless navigation that travels in an optimal path avoiding fixed or moving obstacles is proposed. For mapless navigation, the robot is trained to avoid fixed or moving obstacles through Deep Q Network (DQN) and accuracy 90% and 93% are obtained for two types of obstacle avoidance, respectively. In addition, DQN requires a lot of learning time to meet the required performance before use. To shorten this, the target size change algorithm is proposed and confirmed the reduced learning time and performance of obstacle avoidance through simulation.
