  • As one of various cultural heritages created by humanity, traditional architectures are an archival heritage and cultural heritage reflecting social trends and historical facts. These traditional architectures show various features depending on characteristics by local areas and climatic conditions. They can be expressed in diverse formats such as a picture, a floor plan, and a book. For managing and retrieving traditional architecture records, it is necessary to develop metadata schema based on the FRBR model. Accordingly, this study analyzes the current situation and the problem of domestic and foreign metadata schema related to cultural heritage, and proposes the FRBR-based metadata schema for managing the traditional architecture.

  • Although organizing standardized metadata is important for effective management of cultural heritage information, current metadata are represented differently according to the properties of the resources or objectives of the organizations in which they are accumulated. This research compared 6 different metadata formats and created 18 data elements for constructing databases. A religious architecture heritage information database was constructed based on 72 historic religious architectures, each composing of three parts. An ontology based on religious architecture heritage information was designed using a revised CIDOC-CRM, and was developed with a semi-automated corpus program.

  • The purpose of this study is, first, to establish a theory about the conflict between sustainable tourism development and the restoration process of modern cultural heritage. Second, a research model is established through literature research, and the difference in perception between the local government (Incheon Jung-gu Office) and the local residents is analyzed. Third, based on the results of the analysis, we will present a conflict management strategy for sustainable tourism development in the modern hotel restoration project. If a conflict management strategy is presented based on the analysis results, first, a procedure to confirm whether the goal of development for sustainable tourism development and local residents is the same before the modern cultural heritage restoration project is necessary. Second, it is necessary to coordinate opinions on priority items among sustainable tourism development indicators during the modern cultural heritage restoration project. Third, in the modern cultural heritage restoration project, priority should be given to the change of awareness of the development subject rather than the change of awareness of the local residents. Fourth, in the modern cultural heritage restoration project, the development entity should attempt continuous dialogue and compromise in an effort to find an alternative that satisfies local residents. Fifth, in the modern cultural heritage restoration project, it would be effective to pay special attention to and focus on the part of 'adjustment of opinions' where the difference of opinion between the developer and the local residents is the largest.

  • As it recently became a non-face-to-face society because of the COVID-19 Pandemics, attempts have been made to experience heritage based on virtual reality (VR). Despite the satisfaction of VR contents, however, questions are being raised about whether the VR experience leads to visit a heritage tour or reduces to visit a heritage tour. This study examined how VR-based heritage experiences affect the visit intention of heritage sites. In addition, this study investigated how VR-based experiences differently affect the visit intention compared to web-based experiences. To this end, based on the information success model proposed by DeLone and McLean, this study examined how the perception for system quality and information quality through VR (vs. web) experience affects the intention of visiting the historical site. The results demonstrated that satisfaction was positively influenced by the convenience of system quality and the presence and usefulness of information quality and that the presence and satisfaction positively affected continuance intention. In addition, continuous intention to use positively affected the visit intention of heritage sites. Lastly, it has been shown that the usefulness of information quality in groups experiencing content through the Web (vs. VR) has a greater impact on the intent of continuous use. Based on the results of this study, we discussed ways to organize tourism content to increase the intention of visiting heritage sites.

  • OAIS Reference Model has become a basis for exchanging ideas and cooperating among institutions and various sectors concerned with digital archiving. It has been also recently approved as a new ISO standard. This paper reviews major concepts and issues that the reference addresses. It also introduces current activities of institutions and projects that have contributed to the development process of the model. Conclusion is devoted to address the importance of cooperation among cultural institutions. These institutions are taking the responsibility of preserving digital information for the long-term as authentic as possible and delivering it to the next generation.

  • Recently, the rapid Increase of knowledge information resources and the advancement of information and communication technology has affected all libraries and the museums which collected knowledge and the information resources and provided service with indigenous for a long time. Hence, The library and the museum began to constructs the cooperative system with the cultural heritage agency such as international museums, libraries and archives after realizing the impossibility of physical self-sufficiency that the users are not able to obtain the knowledge resources and the library are not able to provide them. In this Paper, some models are presented for the data cooperation system construction of the library and the museum and developmental plan in the future. The models are (1) Interchangeable model for autonomous noninterference (2) dispense mutual service model (3) intensive service center model (4) a mixture union model.

  • The stone fragments that are missing from the stone cultural heritage have limited use beyond being directly fitted to identify their original position, as they are relatively heavy and bulky, and there is the further risk of secondary physical damage during manual work. Therefore, in this study, morphological relationships between the missing parts and the stone fragments were identified through digital restoration, and a three-dimensional (3D) printed replica was created for use at the exhibition for Stone Buddhas in Four Directions in Hwajeon-ri, Yesan, where 72 stone fragments had been excavated together. First, for the digital restoration, stone fragments of similar shapes were selected after the coordinates of the 3D scanning model were aligned in virtual space. In addition, the stone fragments were printed using a 3D printer to check whether they were physically related to the missing parts. Thus, the original positions of a total of nine stone fragments were identified. To utilize these research results in the exhibition, a 1:1 replica of the Stone Buddhas in Four Directions was produced using 3D printing technology, and the nine stone fragments were also restored to their original positions. The digital technology used in this study is of great importance in that it not only made up for the limitations of the direct manual method but also suggested the possibility of expanding its application to the fields of documentation, restoration, and replication of similar cultural heritage.

  • This study aims to design folk song metadata based on the OAIS reference model for the folk songs' preservation and permanent use. Thus, the folk songs' general characteristics were investigated by researching literature and related technical standards. The type of records, the methods and standards for long-term storage of records, OAIS reference models, and each package's metadata elements were identified through opinions from the popular songs' creators and researchers. The results awere that first, folk songs were created for social transformation, serving as a cultural heritage different from popular songs given their noncommercial quality. Second, the types of folk song records were identified, and the long-term preservation system suitable for the types of records was based on the OAIS reference model. Third, the metadata were edited, and the OIS reference model was applied such that respect was given to the folk songs' characteristics, context, and original order. Fourth and last, information package metadata elements matching the folk songs' records were derived and applied to the representative Korean folk song, "The March for Being."
