  • Science and technology are deeply based on the invention of photography. The images that were made through machines and scientific process were not just delicate images. Photography was used wherever accurate record and realistic description were needed, such as public culture, art, advertisement, science research and so on, so it became an important part of anthropologic culture. However, the history of photography in the present photography education mainly deal with photographic tendency of famous photographers, the change of art paradigm by time period, social changes through big wars, thus there is a lack of diverse perspective in the history of photography, such as technological perspective. In this study, the history of photography was examined through science and technology, and analyzed how photography was affected and changed by the stage of important technological accomplishment. From this point of view, It will be helpful to understand modern photography, and meaningful to be a good reference. Furthermore, by understanding that photography relies on technology, the people who majored in photography will realize how important studying photographic technology and theories is.

  • Character industry is fundamentally based on a technical environment, a media, like any other cultural content industry. In order to extend a life of a character and increase the brand value, a choice and utilization of a more efficient way is necessary. Analyzing why game characters are less worth as a value of commodities than other media contents is presented and suggests complementary methods for the matter. In this study, an approach to increase a brand value of a game character, as well as, linking to develop profitable models afterward is suggested presenting a case of game development.

  • This paper analyzes the technological advancements of military drones and their subsequent effects on modern warfare and international relations. It first examines the historical development of military drones and analyzes the key features and advantages of contemporary military drones. The paper then explores the changes in warfare tactics and military strategies brought about by drone technology, along with discussing the legal and ethical issues related to drone usage. Finally, recent war cases and country-specific responses are reviewed to evaluate the current operational status and impact of military drones. This study offers recommendations for the development of drone operations within the South Korean military and addresses the legal and ethical challenges posed by drone warfare on the international stage.

  • This study is to explore the characteristics of contemporary Chinese architecture from the aspects of the regionalism of environment, culture and technology. Six cases of contemporary Chinese architecture which won the world-wide famous were selected and analyzed. The results are the followings; First, the regionalism of environment emphasizes the building's response to the regional environment (topography, climate and regional landscape). Second, the regionalism of culture reflects as the relevance between architecture and community structure, economic patterns, folk customs and other social factors of the region. Third, the regionalism of technology requires the coordination of construction process, structure form, materials and other contents of architecture with the regional environment and culture, and emphasizes the suitability of technology. Environment, culture and technology determine that the regionalism of contemporary Chinese architecture is not purely the meaning at the formal level, but explores the underlying causes.

  • Since the era of industrial revolution, the waste volume has continued to grow; waste management has thus become one of the major global environmental challenges facing humanities today. Waste treatment and management issues trigger NIMBY movements, and disputes among states, governments, and social actors over the issues have been accelrating. At the level of states and sub-states, various measures including institutions, laws, regulations, market-oriented methods, consensus and collaborative governance have been introduced to address various problems associated with waste. More recently, science and technology has been applied to the waste treatment and management under the notion of circular economy. However, societal support for addressing waste problems still remains inadequate, calling for new approaches and alternative pathways. In this context, this study examines two cases of urban incineration plants designed by Hudertwasser, Austria-born artist and architect: Spittelau, Austria, and Osaka, Japan. Through these case studies, I demonstrate how creative and innovative culture-technology convergence can shed new light on challenging environmental issues such as an urban waste problem.

  • In this paper, we review relevant technologies of Mixed Reality(MR) and show important components of perspective that can overcome technical limitations of the current MR. An MR technology combines real and virtual objects in a real environment, and runs interactive in real time, and is regarded as an emerging technology in a large part of the future of Information Technology(IT). We've grouped the major obstacles limiting the wider use of MR technologies into three themes: technological limitations (i,e., tracking, rendering, authoring, and registration), user interface(UI) limitations(i.e., UI metaphor for MR interaction), and social acceptance issues.

  • Case study has been criticized far its lack of generalization to the larger population and lack of sampling controls. Some of shortcomings of case study methods may be overcome, by using logically consistent, rigorous, and systematic approaches. Especially, Case study method has been suggested as appropriate for researching a range of GIS implementation, utilization, and diffusion issues. This paper provides examples of how the substance of its requirements may be met in the context of GIS case study. For the successful implementation of GIS, this study suggest that the case study method in GIS appropriate to the study of casual relations in and explication of complex GIS acquisition and adoption process.

  • Stone cultural heritage will either be damaged by composite damage or will lose its original historical authenticity starting with the moment it is created. Various artificial interventions to restore them to their original state have been described, centering on the conservation treatment case of the Stupa of State Preceptor Jigwang from the Wonju Beopcheonsa Temple Site. Restoration of the Jigwang stone pagoda was carried out after securing all scientific and technological means for the research and protection of the cultural heritage in question. Since its restoration was promoted to retain its aesthetic and historical value and was based on a careful understanding of the original materials and prototypes, extensive restoration was sought, which contributed to the restoration of the original form, resulting in both preservation and authenticity.

  • The goal of this study is to understand the experiences of emigration to Vietnam for Korean older males through a qualitative case study. The specific research questions are following. Firstly, what do they experience through emigration to Vietnam? Secondly, what are the meanings of emigration to Vietnam for them? Thirdly, what are the contextual meanings of it? To explore these questions, the data were collected through diverse data collection methods including in-depth interviews with seven research participants for eleven months. Each case was carefully examined and summarized in the within-case analysis and major issues appeared in each case were described in the cross-case analysis before the reconstitution of story-telling considering a holistic context on the older males' experiences of emigration to Vietnam. The six integrated themes are 'Motivation and background of immigration', 'Acculturation', 'Social network', 'Meaning of work', 'Family' and 'Spirituality and attitude to the life', 'Perceptions on death'. Finally, the critical results were summarized before indicating limits and implications of this study and then some suggestions for following studies are summarized on the conclusion.
