This study seeks to propose and develop library science courses required in the digital age by investigating overseas LIS courses and surveying field librarians. Such courses must help the future librarian develop familiarity and skill with emerging technologies. As a result, required courses in the digital era were found to be: 'Design and Management of Databases', 'Library Planning, Marketing, and Assessment', 'Understanding Information Technology for Managing Digital Collections', and 'Information and Communication in a Digital Age' in that order, and should therefore be offered as core courses. In addition, 'Service for Information Disadvantaged Users' and 'Organization and Utilization of Web resources' were derived. The study also recommends different required courses based on different librarian types and duties.

This study investigated how Problem-Based Learning method effects on students' Self-Regulated Learning Strategies especially for the LIS education. For this purpose, the differences in students' self-regulated learning strategies were examined as a pre and a post survey using the same questionnaire. Correlation between cognitive and motivational self-regulated learning strategies was examined, and the details of the SRL's sub-components were measured to see the effects of Problem-based learning. Statistical significance using the paired sample t-test were also conducted. The results revealed that Problem-based learning is effective in improving students' cognitive motivational self-regulated learning and found out the possibilities for a follow-up study for motivational self-regulated learning.

In order to present the media type according to the concept of the media, the dictionary concept of the media was reviewed, the language and media for high school students in Korean language, the educational materials for elementary and secondary school students written by Media Education Committee of Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies, the educational textbooks for elementary and secondary school students in Library and Information Science, and media classification presented in the RDA of the cataloging rules were analyzed. In addition, the implications were derived based on the analysis results of the concepts and media type. The concept of media was set based on the analysis results and implications, and the media types were presented according to the concepts and classification criteria. In this study, the media was set up in the same meaning as the medium, and it was defined that the media function as a means of communication and that information contained in it can be obtained through the human sensory apparatus through physical objects that contain, transmit or reproduce information. The purpose of this study was to examine the trends of qualitative research in four representative journals in Korean LIS from 1970 to 2016. 73 papers(1.4%) were analyzed focusing on publication year, subject areas, research purposes, authors, qualitative methods, research participants, data collection methods, data analysis methods, and methods of validation. The findings are as follows: 1) Information behaviour(39.7%) was the most researched topics, followed by librarians work(20.5%), and bibliotherapy & reading education(13.6%). 2) The most frequently used research purpose was for understanding experiences(60.2%) and for improving current state(30.1%). 3) 'Grounded theory'(13.6%) and 'phenomenology'(10.9%), 'case study'(10.9%), were used frequently, while 'non-specified qualitative method' was 26.0% and 'not indicated' was 21.9%. 4) Librarians (41.0%) were the most researched participants, followed by professionals(13.6%). To collect qualitative data, in-depth interview(20.5%), interview(13.6%), and in-depth interview & internal documents(9.5%) were frequently used. There are 'loose qualitative research' group and 'scientific qualitative research' group. LIS researchers using qualitative research methods should consistently make efforts to increase qualitative theory and the philosophical assumptions, and to apply rigorous research method (data collection, analysis and interpretation, sampling, data saturation, validity and reliability). Institutionally, It is to provide 'qualitative research methods' course and to develop guidelines and standards for LIS qualitative research authors and reviewers.

In this study, in order to analyze the current status of the data science curriculum in Korea as of October 2019, we conducted an analysis of the prior studies on the curriculum in the data science field and the competencies required for data professional. This study was conducted on 80 curricula and 2,041 courses, and analyzed from the following perspectives; 1) the analysis of the characteristics of data science domain, 2) the analysis of key competencies in data science, 3) the content analysis of the course titles. As a result, data science program in Korea has become a research-oriented professional curriculum based on an academic approach rather than a technical, vocational, and practitional view. In addition, it was confirmed that various courses were established with a focus on statistical analysis competency, and interdisciplinary characteristics based on information technology, statistics, and business administration were reflected in the curriculum.
