Problem-Based Learning is focused, experiential learning organized around the investigation and resolution of messy, real-world problem. It is both a curriculum organizer and instructional strategy, two complementary processes. The PBL model developed in this study was composed the two components of Problem Design(curriculum organizer) and Problem Implementation(instructional strategy). The basic process of Problem Implementation Model were composed the 8 steps ; 1) the identification of problem, 2) the specification of problem, 3) the exploration and generation for solution, 4) the selecting of best idea, 5) the specific planning of best idea, 6) the implementation and realization, 7) the evaluation, 8) the applying and reflection.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data on pre-service teacher's education based on cooperative learning-oriented teaching and learning methods by applying cooperative learning to verify the effectiveness of pre-service early childhood teacher's communication and problem-solving ability. In the first semester of 2021, 4th grade students who took the teaching method by subject class opened by department of early childhood education at C university were taught for 11 weeks from March 1st week to May 2nd week in 2021 for 4 hours a week. The results of this study were as follows: First, the average score of interpretive ability was the highest in the sub-areas of communication ability of pre-service early childhood teachers, followed by message conversion ability, role performance ability, self-presentation ability, and goal setting ability in the cooperative learning-oriented teaching method by subject class. Second, in terms of the overall average score of pre-service teacher's problem-solving ability, the average score of post-test was increased compared to the average score of pre-test. Through the cooperative learning-oriented class experience in the university's early childhood teacher training course, it is possible to cultivate the practical ability that can be used variously for the children such as communication ability and problem-solving ability in the early childhood education field. Therefore, it is necessary to provide opportunities for cooperative learning-oriented teaching methods in the teacher's education curriculum.

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of non-face-to-face classes conducted due to the COVID-19 crisis. In order to achieve this goal, a non-face-to-face class with flipped learning was applied in one subject of clothing major held at 'S' University in Cheongju, Korea. In addition, this study tried to analyze the differences between pre- and post-non-face-to-face classes in problem analysis ability, resource/information/technology literacy, convergent thinking ability as core competencies, and overall learning satisfaction. As a result, after participating in the non-face-to-face class in which the flipped learning was applied, the students recognized that their abilities improved in the three problem-solving competency sub-areas, and their overall learning satisfaction also increased. The effectiveness of non-face-to-face classes in the field of clothing and fashion has been mainly measured in fashion design and clothing construction courses. However, based on the results of this study, it can be suggested that non-face-to-face classes in a theory-oriented lecture-type class can be effective methods for improving students' core competencies such as problem-solving skills if teaching-learning methods such as flipped learning are applied. Therefore, the results of this study will be useful data for designing differentiated non-face-to-face class strategies in a theory-oriented lecture-type class to improve the core competencies of college students.

The Internet is appearing a new paradigm called Web 2.0 which 'Participation', 'Sharing', 'Openness', 'Cooperation'. Web 2.0 is expanded by experts and general users and many people's ideas can solve more problems than an expert's idea. The collective intelligence is techniques that express the valuable of Web 2.0. For this reason, the collective intelligence has attracted attention because of its potential as an educational tool. The purpose of this study is to develop a PBL-based programming instruction model using collective intelligence to improve students' problem solving abilities and programming attitudes and verified its effectiveness. As a result, the developed instruction model showed significant differences in the students' problem solving abilities and programming attitudes. According to these results, these have been proved that a PBL-based programming instruction model using collective intelligence has an influence to the students' problem solving abilities and programming attitudes.

This study aims to construct a basic PBL class research data model that can strengthen and improve technical college students' abilities to participate in field-education classes and problem-solving skills. A significant effect was found in PBL classes with regard to technical college students' problem-solving skills and abilities to participate in field-education classes, as posited by the hypothesis. The results of the PBL course, which is a hypothesis of research, have been confirmed to have a significant effect on the participation of college students in field practice and on the ability to solve problems. Seventy-one students from five departments (humanities, social studies, and arts) at D University in North GyeongSang Province were selected as final subjects. The study was conducted for seven weeks from October 10 to December 05, 2021, in three stages: pre-inspection, PBL operation, and post-inspection. In the college life experiences of students with disabilities who study late within the Department of Social Welfare, it was confirmed that the study participants independently changed toward their independent life satisfaction and positive perception of themselves as a process of change in which the self-determination rights and goals and hopes for their lives by seeking the role for the disabled who have not yet been encountered and in the process of positively recognizing themselves.
This paper deals with the analysis and comparison between on the course of a conventional engineering design (typically project-based learning) and a new engineering design (introduced PBL model to conventional engineering design). The purpose of the study is to identify and prove the effect of PBL model on the course with a new teaching-learning. In the result of t-test, there were significant statistics in the creative problem solving and self-directed learning ability, but no significant statistics in the team work and communication skill ability. Also the average of factors of the problem-based strategy is higher than those of the project-based strategy. In the problem-based strategy, the team work has the most influential on the satisfactory of the course. However in the project-based strategy, the comprehension of given product has the most influential on the satisfactory. Finally, this study has proved the effect of PBL on the course engineering design.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mathematics-centered STEAM program which was operated in free semester system classes on middle school students' interest in science, technology/engineering, and mathematics(STEM) career and integrated problem solving ability. The study was conducted with 40 first graders in a middle school for 12 weeks using mathematics-centered STEAM program developed for the use of free semester system classes by the support of the Ministry of Education/KOFAC in 2016. According to the results of STEM career interest survey, mathematics-centered STEAM program was effective for improving middle school students' interest in STEM career. Problem-based learning (PBL) is an effective teaching-learning strategy for enhancing students' motivation, problem solving ability, and creativity. Its educational values coincide with the aim of open-inquiry activity introduced in 2007 revised national curriculum. From this aspect we designed the PBL open-inquiry program and implemented to 202 first year middle school students in Gyeonggi provincial office of education for one semester. We developed an energy related PBL problem. The program was designed in four steps: 'understand the problem,' 'investigate information,' 'solve the problem,' and 'present and evaluate the result.' Through the program, students did such activities as 'make Know/need to know chart,' 'group discussion,' 'search information,' and 'preparation of group report.' After completing the program, a survey was conducted to understand the students' perception of the program. The results are as follows: First, 40.6% of students showed positive attitude toward the program. Especially, students responded that 'make Know/need to know chart' was very useful. However, some students responded that 'search information' and 'preparation of group report' were difficult to perform. Second, male students showed positive attitude toward the PBL program compared to female students. Also students had higher scores in attitude toward science, showed more positive attitude toward the PBL program. Third, there was a significant correlation between attitude toward science and perception of PBL steps. Based on survey results, some suggestions were made for teachers who were planning to implement PBL in open-inquiry program.
