Strategies for a Phase 2 Road Map of Global Problem Solving Center 2030 (2030 글로벌문제해결거점 2단계 사업 추진전략 로드맵)

  • Due to the successful accomplishments of the first-stage base center project, a road-map for the second-stage, global base center 2030 project has recently been proposed. The vision of the base center is to build a technology centered, cooperation based platform for a sustainable global community. The global base center 2030 project is based on three core strategies as well as three key strategies. The main goal of the core strategy is to establish an interdisciplinary smart platform, as well as a global tech-coordination facility to implement sustainable, inclusive, and innovative science and technology based ODA projects. To achieve such goals, the global center will focus on developing a global living lab, interdisciplinary smart linkage systems, and a global operating platform. The main goals for the key strategies are to solve issues at the base centers while establishing an international relationship through sustainable technology. To achieve such goals, key projects are centered in establishing a ICT package, and a global living lab based on smart interconnected system. With this, a global inter-connected business platform will also be established to support technical and operational issues.

Learning Performance of Real-Time Online Classes Using PBL for Clothing and Textiles Majors in College (PBL(문제중심학습)을 이용한 대학 의류학 전공 실시간 온라인 수업의 학습효과)

  • The aim of this study is to identify the learning performance of online classes using problem-based learning(PBL) for clothing and textiles majors in college with the increased use of online learning tools after the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to achieve this goal, the PBL was developed and applied to the 'Fashion Marketing and Merchandising' class conducted in real-time online at University in North Chungcheong Province, Korea for four weeks. After a four-week PBL class, a survey was conducted on 35 students in the 'Fashion Marketing and Merchandising' class and the 35 completed questionnaires were used for analysis. The measurement tools of this study were self-directed learning, cooperative learning ability, problem-solving ability, and learning achievement regarded as an important learning effect in PBL class. In addition, students' self-reflective essays were also analyzed to examine the educational effect of PBL applying online classes. As a result of this study, bivariate correlations among the four variables, students' self-directed learning, cooperative learning ability, problem-solving ability, and learning achievement were significantly positive. Furthermore, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that the three independent variables had significant effects on students' perceived learning achievement, in the order of cooperative learning ability, self-directed learning, and problem-solving ability. The students' self-reflective essays indicated that problem-based learning worksheet was helpful for identifying problems, and clarifying what they already and what they need to study more. Based on this study, it could be recommended that online class applying PBL could contribute to the improvement of student's learning performance.

Designing Content Elements of the Programming Curriculum as a Instrumental Subject for Gifted Science High School (과학영재 고등학교 도구교과로서의 프로그래밍 교육과정 내용요소 설계)

  • In this study, contents of programming curriculum were designed as instrumental subjects for scientifically gifted students, not for IT gifted ones. Firstly, the programming curriculum consisted of 3 sections; Programming Understanding, Object-Oriented Programming, and Simulation Programming as a result of two semesters. Then, the lectures including project-based and problem-solving tasks were given to scientifically gifted students in a high school during one semester to verify whether they could apply the contents to studies and researches in math or science or not. As a result of this study, the students could improve numerical analysis and simulation program development capabilities in math or science as well as the problem-solving ability based on computational thinking. Moreover, it was proved that the students changed their perception about programing learning. They started to think that programing learning was necessary to studies and researches in math or science. The results of this study propose guideline to design programming curriculum as instrumental subjects for scientifically gifted students.

The Effects of Health Department Undergraduates' Self-efficacy on Stress-coping Strategies : Focusing on multiple group analysis by grade and sex (건강보건 대학생의 자기효능감이 스트레스 대처전략에 미치는 영향 : 학년과 성별의 다중집단분석을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of health related departments' self-efficacy on stress-coping strategies by setting up grade and sex as regulating variables and figure out their mediating effects. To attain the goal, a survey was conducted to 1,442 undergraduates attending S University, and the results went through analysis by using SPSS and AMOS. To sum up the study results, preference of difficult project exerted negative effects on avoidance-centeredness. Self confidence had negative effects on avoidance-centeredness. Self-regulating efficacy indicated positive effects on social support-orientation and problem solving-centeredness while avoidance-centeredness showed negative effects. Regarding effects among self-efficacy's subfactors, confidence, self-regulating efficacy, and preference for task difficulty, and stress-coping strategies' subfactors, social support-orientation, problem solving-centeredness, and avoidance-centeredness, there was difference found in the model by grade, but there was no difference found by sex.

  • Generally, Web Based Instruction has been deployed through whole studies, but the characteristic that is suit various WBI materials to a course of study is a important problem of instructional practice and it also has not to overlook. Therefore, Today's problem that is application of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction, A plan that it can be solved in the social studies is propelling in this paper. Each of the whole country's region, the learning about the regional autonomy with centering around text, it is a text book, 'Social Investigation', that is developed specially is teaching until now, but developmental model of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction is proposed by the efforts for improve this problem. Various learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction applied to learn our regional cultural life through the school homepage with based on this proposal. As a result of this study, By sloughing off old sensibility with centering around text, Student's Ability of self directed learning and solving problem is expanded with the dynamic multimedia regional Webpage's environment

The relationship between the students' strategy types and the recognition for proportional situations (학생들의 문제해결전략 유형과 비례상황 인지와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the students' strategy types and the recognition for proportional situations. The students' strategy types which were based on the results of ratio and proportion tests were divided into an additive type, a multiplicative type, and a formal type. This research analyzed the students' activities of categorization when were given the proportional problems and nonproportional problems to the students. And it also explored how to develop students' recognizing for the discrimination between the proportional situations and nonproportional situations. The results was the following. First, the students didn't discriminate the proportional situations and the nonproportional situations in the initial state but they came to discriminate little by little. Secondly, the students didn't discriminate the direct proportions and the inverse proportions until the last stage. Third, the multiplicative type was outperformed more than the formal type in solving the ratio and proportion problems but the formal type was outperformed more than the multiplicative type in discriminating between proportional situations and nonproportional situations. These results are interpreted as showing that solving ratio and proportion tasks and recognizing proportional situations are different aspects of proportional reasoning and it is necessary to understand multiplicative strategy with formal strategy in recognizing proportional situations.

  • This study analyzed effects of Action Learning approach on enhancing learning motivation and improving problem-solving capacity in NCS vocational competency classes of Polytechnic College. Targeted group is B Polytechnic College located in Chungnam, and 53 students in experimental group and 64 students in control group. analysis of data is descriptive statistic analysis and the multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) method to study sub factors of learning motivation and problem-solving ability. As a result, Action Learning approach has a great influence on connection, confidence, and satisfaction, among the sub factors of learning motivation. also figured that the approach has positive effects on problem clarifying, cause analysis, alternative developing, planning/practicing, and performance assessment, among the sub factors of problem-solving capacity. Moreover, Polytechnic College's NCS vocational competency classes are desirably required to adopt the approach of Action Learning for their educational method, as it fosters basic competencies, such as understanding of diverse perspectives, communicating, leadership, interpersonal relationship, self-development, coping with conflicts, operating meetings, to be learned while students are doing problem-solving activities under a team-working atmosphere.

The Effects of Lessons with the Application of Drawing Tasks on Changes in Conception among Gifted Science Students (드로잉 과제 활용 수업이 과학 영재들의 개념변화에 미치는 효과)

  • This study lays its purpose on examining the effects of lessons with the application of drawing tasks on changes in conception among gifted science students. The lesson with the application of drawing tasks means the lesson where students express key concepts regarding lesson subjects in drawings which are then applied to the lessons to develop conception among the learners. This study analyzed the effectiveness of lessons by comparing conception scores before and after experiments between an experiment group with the application of drawing tasks and a control group with normal lessons for the gifted in general for 8 months from March to October, 2008. In addition, the researcher examined how the effectiveness of the developed lessons show differently according to levels of meta-cognition, creative problem-solving abilities, and scientific inquiry skills among the gifted students. The results from this study are as the following. First, lessons with the application of drawing tasks were effective in changing conception among the gifted science students. It is possibly because in the process where one student compare his/her own drawings with the others' ones and discuss them, changes in conception occurred effectively among the learners. Second, it was revealed that lessons utilizing drawing tasks have equal effects on changes in conception among both student groups irrespective of their levels of meta-cognition. Accordingly the lesson for changing perceptions utilizing drawing tasks developed in this study is a program which can be applied to all gifted science students in order to change conception among them. Third, lessons utilizing drawing tasks have the greatest effects on the gifted science students at a 'middle' level of creative problem solving abilities. Fourth, lessons utilizing drawing tasks have the greatest effects on the gifted science students at a 'middle' level of scientific inquiry skills. Putting these results together, it is thought that if lessons utilizing drawing tasks are applied to gifted science students, not only their concepts would be changed effectively but also their attitudes toward science would be changed positively.

Brain Activation Pattern and Functional Connectivity during Convergence Thinking and Chemistry Problem Solving (융합 사고와 화학문제풀이 과정에서의 두뇌 활성 양상과 기능적 연결성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate brain activation pattern and functional connectivity during convergence thinking based creative problem solving and chemistry problem solving to identify characteristic convergence thinking that is backbone of creative problem solving using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI). A fMRI paradaigm inducing convergence thinking and chemistry problem solving was developed and adjusted on 17 highschool students, and brain activation image during task was analyzed. According to the results, superior frontal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus, cingulate gyrus, precuneus and caudate nucleus body in left hemisphere and cuneus and caudate nucleus body in right hemisphere were significantly activated during convergence thinking. The other hand, middle frontal gyrus, medial frontal gyrus and caudate nucleus in left hemisphere and middle frontal gyrus, lingual gyrus, caudate nucleus, thalamus and culmen of cerebellum in right hemisphere were significantly activated during chemistry problem solving. As results of analysis functional connectivity, all of areas activated during convergence thinking were functionaly connected, whereas scanty connectivity of chemistry problem solving between right middle frontal gyrus, bilateral nucleus caudate tail and culmen. The results show that logical thinking, working memory, planning, imaging, languge based thinking and learning motivation were induced during convergence thinking and these functions and regions were synchronized intimately. Whereas, logical thinking and inducing learning motivation functioning during chemistry problem solving were not synchronized. These results provide concrete information about convergence thinking.

  • An important factor in education is ensuring reliable quality of education. There are a variety of ways based on criteria to ensure the quality of education. To ensure quality management, attendance is important which is highly reliable rating at the account education of Ministry of Employment and Labor and sevice training of Health Care. In contrast, the service training of health care professionals was consisting of formal attendance management, quality of education has been raised as a problem. Recently developed USN-based attendance management system is effective. But if education is proceed at a large number of small scale in the area of education, cost, portability, systeme management, the reliability of the Trainee's attendance remained as problems to solve. To address these needs, this paper quoted low-cost attendance management system which was desighned and implemented by barcode and PC camera. As a result the actual maintenance training system showed a 98% satisfaction in terms of administrator and 95% satisfaction in terms of Trainee.
