Sensibility Images of Korean Traditional Motifs Cognized by American College Students (미국대학원이 인지하는 韓國傳統紋樣의 感性이미지)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate sensibility images of Korean traditional motifs cognized by college students in U.S.A. The subjects consisted of 217 male and 351 female undergraduate students. The experimental materials used in this study were 48 stimuli and questionnaires, composed of 7-point semantic differential scales of 15 bipolar adjectives. Twelve motifs selected from 3 groups of Korean motifs were used as motif stimuli. Twelve repeated patterns were constructed from them to be applied on a CAD-simulated dress. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test. The major finding were as follows: 1. Four dimensions were emerged accounting for the dimensional structure of the images of Korean traditional motifs. These dimensions were ‘quality’, ‘simplicity’, ‘cheerfulnees’, and ‘modernity’. Among them, ‘quality’and ‘simplicity’were the major dimensions. 2. Category, interpretation type, composition type, and application object had significant effects on the images of above-mentioned dimensions. The interpretation type had a significant effect on ‘quality’image, the composition type on ‘cheerful’image, and the application object on ‘modernity’image.

  • 문양이나 패턴이 없는 민 무늬의 물체에는 동일점 정합에 의해 3 차원 계측을 하는 스테레오 정합방식을 적용할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 난수 발생 함수로 제작한 랜덤 칼라 패턴을 대상물체에 투영하여, 대상 물체 표면에 특징적인 문양을 인위적으로 생성시키는 것에 의해 민 무늬의 물체를 스테레오 정합법으로 측정하는 방식을 제안한다. 투사된 패턴으로 자체 문양을 지니게 된 물체를 스테레오 카메라로 촬영하였고, 동일점 정합은 전역 스테레오 정합 방식의 일종인 TRW 방식에 의한 컬러 매칭 방식을 사용하였다. 제안된 방식은 원형의 흰색 석고상 3 차원 계측에 적용되었고, 안정적이고 정확한 스테레오 정합 계측 결과를 보였다.

  • The flower, a symbol of beauty representing beauty, exists as an aesthetic object throughout the history of mankind, and is one of the motifs most often used in plastic art. In this way, flower art is an art that embodies a form based on the theme of flowers. The flowers played a role in expressing human happiness and love by harmonizing beautifully with each other in shape and color. The flower pattern containing this symbolism is beautiful and excellent in decoration, and is applied not only to household goods, but also to art and fashion. The flower pattern is the most preferred pattern among patterns, and it is widely used regardless of the four seasons by changing the color according to the color and flowering time, and it is effective in stimulating the symbolism and psychological sense of humans, so it is used in design in various fields. In this study, the flower pattern, which is a symbol of beauty representing beauty and the motif of art, has been traditionally used in Korea, and is still loved in fashion and art even in modern times. We hoped to be active, and through this study, we tried to develop our own unique flower pattern and lay the groundwork for it to be commercialized.

  • This study was aimed at investigating the relationship between the sensibility image of Dangcho pattern and the pattern composition variables(representation type, pattern arrangement, object of application, desire of purchase, ages). The results obtained are as follows: The sensibility image which is derived from Dangcho pattern was investigated in the property of five dimensions, that is, the property of fascination, elegance, high grade, uniqueness, and correctness. The sensibility image of Dangcho pattern was the significant main effect according to pattern composition variables(representation type, pattern arrangement, object of application, desire of purchase, ages), and was the significant collation effect between each of pattern composition variables. The sensibility image of the Dangcho pattern which had most an influence on degree of preference and desire of purchase was examined by the property of fascination.

  • Each country, each organization and individual have pursued their own identity, which require a unique design discriminated from other countries, cultures and people. As character related industries including character, cartoon, animation and CF appeared everywhere, development of character of mascot concept which can highlight individual personality has been required. This study is to meet these requirements and develop character of Korean subject as the concept of mascot or guard angel in order to develop the unique design with discriminative features from individual identity. For this, this study named it "Individual Character", analyzes the Korean traditional incantatory patterns and develops three patterns such as line art character, five-color 2D character and letter '||'&'||' picture 3D character as a form having individual character with the twelve gods of the earth through examination of materials of traditional patterns home and aborad. These three-typed characters seek strategies by types and are applied to calender, ceramic, metal, animation source, living goods and accessories. Application to commodities include line art and the products of 20 and 3D types based on re-design and add metal, paper, web and ceramic. Therefore this study finds that "Individual Character' using traditional incantatory patterns can discover the cultural identity and originality through Korean design creation and application of "Individual Character" to character industry can develop the pluralistic characters with a material and it can be extended to consumption goods.onsumption goods.

  • Artifact pattern representation of a method using the digital technology is largely are two digital rubbing technique and digital contrast technique. Digital rubbing technique is clearly with the naked eye to see the original prestigious and difficult to build a digital rubbing data patterns by scanning a prestigious and patterns carved into the artifacts in three dimensions without compromising the circle to represent the three-dimensional effect by contrast it to the objective value refers to a technique that can be represented in digital.   • With the development of media, modern times are actively exchanging cultures and information around the world. Therefore, product development using traditional material, which are Korean cultural heritages, can be said to be another medium that can promote our unique culture to the world. Therefore, this study attempted to develop a product suitable for the modern lifestyle that combines tradition and modernity by investigating and analyzing Korean roof tiles and applying the formative elements identified as a result of the study. Among the types of roof tiles, a Sumaksai, which is located on the front of the roof and stands out for decoration, was selected as the subject of the study, and it was developed by combining it with lighting and plates as an item for modern people seeking a life full of personality. In product development, we tried to express the traditional style as it is by making the most of the elements of the Sumaksai, and the lotus pattern, which was most commonly used in each era when roof tiles were made, was simplified and applied to the product. As the products developed in this way are used in our daily lives, we hope that users' interest in ours will increase, and that the development of various products through research on traditional material can be activated as a way to spread our culture around the world.

Development of Maker Education Programs Based on Storytelling for Traditional Living Culture Education: Focusing on Traditional Patterns and Obangsaek(Korean Traditional Five Colors) (전통 생활 문화 교육을 위한 스토리텔링 기반 메이커 교육 프로그램 개발: 전통 문양과 오방색을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this research was to develop the education program on traditional living culture for home economics(HE) based on the 2015 revised national curriculum. The existing school curriculum for traditional living culture tends to overly focus on the theories about traditional culture and suffer from absence of continuity in learning activities. It can be argued that HE is an ideal subject for dealing with traditional living culture as it aims to develop students' ability to recreate the traditional culture, meeting present needs and trends. This study, thus, attempted to present the practical ways of improving the quality of education on traditional living culture by developing HE education program for high school students. To fulfill the purpose, this research, as a teaching topic, selected the traditional patterns and the "Obangsaek"(Korean traditional five colors) which can commonly be dealt with in the subjects of traditional Korean food, Korean costume and Korean style house. In particular, the program was developed following the ADDE process. In the stage of analysis, this article analyzed the HE curriculum and making activities included in HE textbooks based on the 2015 revised national curriculum, as well as the needs of teachers and students regarding traditional living culture education. In the stage of design, this study developed the instructional model, selecting class topics, tools and materials. In the stage of development, the programs on traditional living culture including costume, food and house were developed. In the evaluation phase, this research conducted the validity test and received the feedbacks from 12 HE educators in order to complete the programs. This study finally suggested that future studies in this area examine the effect of the presented programs on enhancing the students' perception of traditional culture and the will of developing and succeeding the traditional living culture.
