This paper describes the Autonomous Vehicles (AV) which are operated for their own tasks. There are chances of conflict resolution such as sharing the same path which can lead to the risk of a collision. This research represents some ways of negotiating the conflict resolution by generating cooperative actions. Negotiation while traveling the path is accomplished by using priority and by announcing the start time of the task. When there is a risk of collision, the AV tries to dissolve the situation of conflict resolution by concurrently adjusting mutual speed and by performing the algorithm of passing. If the speed of the AV cannot be adjusted, it measures the distance between the counterpart of the AV and an obstacle along the path. Then it judges either to proceed by passing the counterpart of the AV or to turn back after observing the current circumstances. The performance of the algorithm described above was proven by a simulator.
This paper describes a moving path generation method for the Autonomous vehicles (AV) to search for paths in an unknown environment by using fixed obstacle information. Algorithms for the AV which were recently proposed have some problems, so it was difficult to utilize these algorithms in the real world. The purpose of this research is to examine the applicability of real-time control and efficient improvement by reducing calculation iterations. In the network which is constructed by the cell-decomposition method, a gate is installed in each cell. By verifying the possibility of gate pass-over, the number of cells which should be considered to find the solution can be reduce. Therefore, algorithm iterations can be dramatically improved. In this paper we have proven that path-generated algorithms are efficient by using simulation.

In recent years, AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicles) have received growing attention as a subsystem of the integrated container operating system which enables unmanned control. improvement of job reliability, accuracy and productivity. Therefore, a number of works have been done to enhance the performance AGVs. In this paper. job deployment and a dynamic routing control system composed of supervisor, traffic controller. motion controller and routing table are discussed. A simple job deployment scheme and an efficient dynamic routing algorithm incorporating with the deadlock prediction and avoidance algorithm are investigated.
As the demand for industrial robots and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) increases, higher performance is also required from them. Fuzzy controllers, as part of an intelligent control system, are a direct control method that leverages human knowledge and experience to easily control highly nonlinear, uncertain, and complex systems. This paper uses a $LabVIEW^{(R)}-based$ fuzzy controller with gain scheduling to demonstrate better performance than one could obtain with a fuzzy controller alone. First, the work area was set based on forward kinematics and inverse kinematics programs. Next, $LabVIEW^{(R)}$ was used to configure the fuzzy controller and perform the gain scheduling. Finally, the proposed fuzzy gain scheduling controller was compared with to controllers without gain scheduling.
Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) is commonly used in manufacturing plant, warehouse, distribution center, and terminal. AGV is self-driven vehicle used to transport material between workstations in the shop floor without the help of an operator, and AGV includes a material transfer system located on the top and driving system at the bottom to move the vehicle as desired. For navigation, AGV mostly uses lane paths, signal paths or signal beacons. Various predominant sensors are also used in the AGV. However, in the conventional AGV, there is a problem of not turning or damaging nearby objects or AGV in a narrow space. In this paper, a new driving system is proposed to move the vehicle in a narrow space. In the proposed driving system, two sets of the combined steering-drive unit are adopted to solve the above problem. A prototype of AGV with the new driving system is developed for the comparative analysis with the conventional AGV. In addition, the experimental result shows the improved performance of the new driving system in the maximum speed, braking distance and positioning precision tests.
This study is concerned with the scheduling problems in flexible manufacturing systems(FMSs). The scheduling problem in FMSs is a complex one when the number of machines and jobs are increased. Thus, a heuristic method is recommended in order to gain near-optimal solutions in a practically acceptable time. The purpose of this study is to develope a machine and AGV dispatching algorithm. The proposed dispatching algorithm is a on-line scheduling algorithm considering the due date of parts and the status of the system in the scheduling process. In the new machine and AGV dispatching algorithm, a job priority is determined by LPT/LQS rules considering job tardiness. The proposed heuristic dispatching algorithm is evaluated by comparison with the existing dispatching rules such as LPT/LQS, SPT/LQS, EDD/LQS and MOD/LQS. The new dispatching algorithm is predominant to existing dispatching rules in 100 cases out of 100 for the mean tardiness and 89 cases out of 100 for the number of tardy jobs.
By the rapid expansion of containerization and intermodal transportation in international shipping since the 1970's, the larger containerships have emerged and concentrated their calls at a limited number of ports. Moreover, large-scale container terminals have been built to accommodate the ever-larger containerships, and the mordernization of terminal facilities and many developments in information technology etc. have been brought out. Thus, unlimited competition has been imposed on every terminal with neighbouring ports in Japan, Singapore, Hongkong and Taiwan etc. The purpose of this study is to suggest how the container terminal operators cope with unlimited competition between local or foreign terminals. The results are suggested as follows: First, transshipment cargoes, which the added value is high, is to be induced. Second, the function of storage is given on On-Dock Yard. Third, Berth Pool Operation System is to be introduced, especially in Gamman Container Terminal and Kwangyang Container Terminal. Fourth, the cargo handling charges is to be decided by terminal operator.
In automated assembly line, an automatic guided vehicle system(AGVS) represents a mire versatile means of moving materials automatically. In this paper, the vehicles not only provide the transportation medium between workstations but also as mobile workstations. The objective for the developed model is the determination of the appropriate time to control AGV based assembly line in order to minimize production makespan while maximizing the efficient use of vehicles. In this paper, we consider the finished goods of two types which are produced in assembly line. The assembly line is considered with and without queue. Because no buffer are present in case 1. this model seeks to determine the point in time at which vehicles should be launched in the assembly line without experiencing a delay. The case 2 model also seek to determine the vehicle launch times while minimizing production makespan. The assumption in this model is that the maximum queue size cannot exceed 1 at any time.
