Changes of Riparian Vegetation in Relation to Disturbance of Musim-Chon Stream, Cheongju (청주 무심천의 교란에 따른 식생분포의 변화)

  • The phytosociological investigation was carried out at 32 sites of the riparian vegetation in Musim-Chon stream passed through Choengju-City, Chungcheongbuk-Province by Braun-Blanquet's method from August to October, 1997. The flora of vascular plants in this survey was 202 species. The riparian vegetation was classified into 25 communities as follows. The submerged hydrophytes are Potomogeton malaianus var. latifolius community, Potomogeton crispus community, Myriophyllum verticillatum community-Hydrilla verticillata community and Ceratophyllum demersum community. The floating-leaved hydrophyte is Trapa japonica community. The emerged hydrophytes are Phragmites communis community, Perzicaria thunbergii community, Phragmites japonica community, Oenanthe javanica community, Zizania latifolia community and Persicaria hydropiper community. The herbaceous vegetation of floodplain are Artemisia montana community, Humulus japonicus community, Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Erigeron anmus community, Impatiens balsamina community, Bidens frondosa community, Setaria viridis community, Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior community and Eragrostis ferruginea community. The woody vegetation of floodplain are Robinia pseudo-acacia community, Stephanandra incisa community and Clematis apiifolia community. The species diversity was low in the upper and down stream, while the diversity was high in the mid stream situated at the center of Choengju-City because of frequent disturbance by citizens. These results suggested that distribution of communities and species diversity was closely related to the disturbance.

  • 1) 하천 종횡단 자료, 유사량 자료, 수문 자료 등을 입력하여 하상변동을 모의하는 소하천은 지류(tributary)라 하고, 단순히 유량의 유입 또는 자료만을 입력하는 소하천, 첩수로, 배수로, 취수구 등은 국소 유입점이라 하여 구분함. 2) 각 행이 필수적(required)으로 필요한가 선택적(optional)으로 필요한가 하는 사항은 다음과 같이 나타낸다. 1필수 : 반드시 필요하며 빠질 경우 실행되지 않음, 2선택 : 필요할 때만 입력하면 되며 없어도 무방, 3한번필수 : 반복적으로 수행 또는 입력하는 경우, 처음 수행시는 반드시 필요하지만 다음부터는 입력값을 변경하고자 할 경우만 입력하는 경우, 4특수선택 : 특별한 경우를 모의하고자 할 경우만 선택. 3) HEC-6는 조도계수를 지정된 단면의 상류에 적용하나 HEC-2는 그 단면의 상하류에 적용한다. 그러나 그 결과는 어느 방법이나 거의 일치한다. 4) 우리나라의 하천과 HEC-6모형이 개발된 미국의 하천이 다름을 유의 하여야 한다. 여기서 제방이라함은 우리나라와 같이 인공제방이 축조된 곳을 의미하는 것이 아니다. 그보다는 미국의 서부 건조지역을 흐르는 하천과 같이 유량 변화가 거의 없는 하천에 하도의 양쪽에 자연적으로 형성되어 있는 자연제방을 의미하는 것이다. 따라서 만제 유량의 개념도 원래 모형에서 제시된 의미와는 달리 적용되어야 할 것이다. 5) 한국건설기술연구원(1989)의 연구에서 지적된 바와 같이 유사량 공식에 따라 계산된 유사량이 큰 차이가 날 수 있으므로, 유사량 공식을 선정하는 것은 매우 중요한 요소이며 대상하천의 상황에 적합한 공식을 선정하는데 상당히 신중을 기해야 한다. 있다. 청주권의 무심천도 계획상은 대청댐의 물을 공급 받을수도 있도록 되어 있으나 현실상으로 상수도 원수로서의 공급마저도 매년 심한 원수 수질 문제(5-6월, 10월경의 취수장 부근의 부영양화 현상으로 인한 악취와 물 맛의 문제)를 1984년부터 겪고 있다. 이와 같이 도시권 하천의 수자원은 자연적, 인위적, 경제적, 법적, 제도적 여러 제한 요소로서 특성을 가지고 있으며 이는 날로 심해 가고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 최적 물관리 시스템의 개발이 새로이 시작하는 수자원 개발 사업에서는 계획 단계에서부터 절실히 요구되는 바이며 기존 시설물의 관리 운영은 과감히 그 운영 관리 기준을 보완 재 정비하여야 할 것이다. 지금까지 대부분의 수자원 종합 개발 계획이 홍수방이나 용수 공급 및 수력 개발 등에 주력하여 왔으나 이제는 보다 더 수자원의 환경 보전적 차원과 도시의 안정적 발달을 위한 지역 및 권역 계획과 연계지워져서 양적인 안정 공급과 더불어 질적인 향상과 연계지워서 경제-사회적 요구에 부응할 수 있도록 도시권의 수자원을 최적 관리할 수 있는 방안을 강구하여야 할 것이다. 이는 각 도시 하천의 수자원의 정량적·정성적인 특성 및 제한 요소를 충분히 감안하여 수요-공급 개념에 의하여 과감히 기존 시설(예: 팔당댐의 운영, 대청댐의 운영 등)의 관리 운영 체계를 개선하여 나가야 할 것이며, 수질 보전적-환경 보전 차원에서 저수관리 체계를 확고히 할 수 있는 방안을 강구하여야 할 것이다.펄스주입법에 의해 증착된 박박은 강유전성 이력을 나타내었다.지역과 비도시지역을 비교하는 조사 연구가 필요하며, 이러한 조사결과를 바탕으로 자녀의 식습관에 대한 교육을 위한 교재, 교구의 개

  • The purpose of this study is to realize the teaching material, which develops the Model of Watershed Water Environment Education(EE) Textbook, by seeking for a method of the Inquiry with the Perspective of EE and by questing for the contents of watershed water environment necessary for Water EE with the Perspective of EE. First, the value of watershed EE was reilluminated through the literature analysis on the watershed. And 'Inquiry with the Perspective of EE' methodology was newly presented that quests for the contents necessary and proper for EE from the viewpoint of EE. Also, with suggesting it as concept and methodology of 'Inquiry with the Perspective of Watershed EE' by considering the value of EE in Water EE, it presented the content approach direction in the inquiry and the contents of the specific inquiry. Second, through the Inquiry with the Perspective of EE into water environment of the watershed Musim cheon (stream), which is a case region, it allowed the watershed water environment to be able to be synthetically understood. As for a sphere of the inquiry, 5 spheres were sought by taking into account a relation to a human being, as well as the water environment itself of the watershed Musim cheon (stream). Third, Based on the contents of the Inquiry with the Perspective of EE into the watershed Mlisim cheon (stream), 'the Model of Watershed Water EE Textbook' for middle-school students was developed. This model of textbook was selected largely four parts, and was organized with 10 learning objectives and 11 activities.

A Linear Analysis of the Relation between Rainfall and Runoff for Peak Flow based on Geomorphologic IUH (지형학적(地形學的) 순간단위도(瞬間單位圖)에 의한 첨두유량(尖頭流量)의 강우(降雨)-유출(流出) 선형해석(線形解析))

  • The schemes synthesizing the instantaneous unit hydrograph(IUH) are presented by using the geomorphologic parameters of a basin. To this end, the channels in the network are numbered according to the Strahler scheme, and the mathematical formulation corresponding to a dynamic probability theory for deriving the geomorphologic IUH(GUH) is refered to the existing techniques adopted by Rodriguez-Iturbe and Valdes. Also, the mean runoff velocity is applied for expressing a dynamic state of flow. The applicability of the GUH to the real drainage basins is tested by using the data observed in a few basins with areas of the order of 9.2, 20, 33.63, and $109.73km^2$ in Korea. The test is carried out by checking the discrepancies between the observed and simulated values for the peak discharge and its time of occurrence which are the most important parameters of an IUH by varing the mean runoff velocity and the inputs. As a result, good agreement is found between them, and it is shown that the variability in peak discharge of hydrograph depends on the mean runoff velocity more than the constant loss rate.

A study on the Evaluation for the Design Flood of Ungauged Small River Basins (미계측 중소하천의 계획홍수량산정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a hydrologic method of probabilistic design flood calculation for ungauged small river basins. It is based on the study and analysis of the physiographic characteristics of the river basin for which stream flow records may not be available. Rainfall data is used at nearby station which has the rainfall intensity-duration-frequency relations. Musim cheon, second tributary of the Guem river, is selected for the sample study. Design floods for the stream reaches are computed by the Rational formula, the runoff coefficients being determined with the physiographic data such as soil type, land use and vepetal covers. Derived unit hydrograph at conneted main river basin is used to compute the peak flood discharge. Kajiyama formula and modified Kajiyama formula are used to calculated the most probable maximum flood discharge. The result of this study shows that synthesized unit hydrograph method is more accurate and applicable way to com pute design flood for ungauged small river basins.

Antibiotic Production of Pseudomonas otitidis PS and Mode of Action (Pseudomonas otitidis PS 균주의 항생물질 생산과 작용 기작)

  • An isolate capable of inhibiting the growth of gram-positive bacteria was obtained from the soil of Mushim stream, Cheongju. The isolate was identified as Pseudomonas otitidis PS by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. P. otitidis PS produced antibiotics as a secondary metabolite when cultured in 1% soybean meal with 0.5% glucose. The maximum yield was about 0.1%. The antibiotic substance of P. otitidis PS extracted using ethyl acetate displayed a minimum inhibitory concentration of $2{\mu}g/ml$ for Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1261. The antibiotic substance produced an orange halo on chrome azurol S agar due to siderophore activity. Growth inhibition was decreased when the iron was depleted. Since the antibiotic activity was lost upon the addition of the reducing agent ascorbic acid or during anaerobic culture, it was considered that antibiotic of P. otitidis PS strain exerts its bactericidal effect by the generation of reactive oxygen species.

Analysis of Thermal Characteristics for Areas of Musim Stream in Cheongju City (청주시 무심천 주변의 열환경 특성 분석)

  • The urban thermal environment can be an important index to detect heat island phenomena and manage it to improve urban life quality. Cheongju is a typical plain-city that main part has been formed and developed in lowland. The Mushim stream crosses the city from south to north. We reviewed the use of thermal remote sensing in stream around areas and the thermal environments, focusing primarily on the Urban Heat Island(UHI) effect. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the stream nearby urban area and the stream cooling effect of UHI. The objectives are to determine the usefulness of KOMPSAT-2 bands MS3 and MS4 for vegetation cover mapping, and the usefulness of LANDSAT TM band 6 in identifying thermal environmental characteristics and UHI. Land Surface Temperatures (LST) are retrieved by single-channel algorithm to study the UHI from the 6th band (thermal infrared band) of LANDSAT TM images and thermal radiance thermometer based on remote sensing method and the LST distribution maps are accomplished according to the retrieval results. There is also comparison of satellite-derived and in situ measured temperature. The results indicated that the LST of urban center is higher than that of suburban area, the temperature of mountain and water are the lowest area, so it is clearly proved that there are obvious UHI effects by stream. The surface temperature distribution of Mushim stream is detected $2^{\circ}C$ lower than urban area.

Transfer and genetic recombination of antibiotic resistance genes occurring in water environment (수질환경에서 일어나는 항생물질 내성유전자의 전이와 재조합)

  • Antibiotic resistant bacteria isolated from the river water in Cheongju City were studied on the transfer of their R-plasmids in water environment. The R-plasmids were transferred by conjugation between the isolates ai the frequencies of 1.1$\times$10$^{-6}$ to 1.2$\times$10$^{-7}$ under laboratory condition and 1.2$\times$10$^{-7}$ to 1.0$\times$10$^{-9}$ in natural environment. The R-plasmids isolated from those bacteria were also transferred into the recipient cells of E. coli HB101 at the frequencies of 1.7-6.7$\times$10$^{-6}$. The AP$^{r}$Cm$^{r}$Tc$^{r}$-plasmid of isolate T-44 which were transformation by conjugation and transformation was determined to be 9.01 kilobses in molecular size. When the AP$^{r}$Cm$^{r}$Tc$^{r}$-plasmid DNA was treated with restriction endonuclease, the plasmid appeared to have one restriction site for EroRI and BamHI, respectively, and three sites for Pst I endonuclease.

Evaluation of water supply capacity using groundwater abstraction contributing to streamflow (하천유량에 기여하는 지하수 양수량의 물공급 능력 평가)

  • In the present study, an integrated SWAT-MODFLOW model was implemented to analyze the method of supplying groundwater abstraction contributing to Musimcheon stream. Various simulations of supply of groundwater to streamflow with current and maximum groundwater abstraction have been explored for 5 years (2011-2015). In 2015, when the severe drought happened, the monthly discharge change rate due to groundwater supply was ranged from 23% in current abstraction to 68% in maximum abstraction. In terms of annual groundwater recharge, these quantities could be applicable recharges ranged from 75 mm (6.2% of annual mean precipitation) to 290 mm (24% of annual mean precipitation) which could be stable annual supply. Since surface water is vulnerable to drought, the water supply using groundwater could be an effective alternative for stream deficiency.

The Sensitivity Analysis of Parameters of Urban Runoff Models due to Variations of Basin Characteristics (II) - Model Calibration and Application - (유역특성 변화에 따른 도시유출모형의 매개변수 민감도분석(II) -모형의 검정 및 적용-)

  • In this study, ILLUDAS and SWMM were applied for Dongsucheon basin, Incheon and Test basin, Cheongju. The main parameters (II, IA, IS, SI, SR, SS) which are included in those of each model depending on runoff results were determined, and sensitivity ratios were estimated in order to evaluate and compare the characteristics of each modEL. Total runoff ratio for almost parameters turned out to have a linear relation to the rainfall durations and the scale of basin area but have nothing to do with rainfall distributions. Sensitivity ratios turned out to have a linear relation for the infiltration and soil parameters of ILLUDAS as well as all parameters of SWMM. ronoff sensitivity ratios for almost parameters were smaller than 1.0 because the impacts of total runoff were bigger than those of peak runoff. And runoff sensitivity ratio was equal to 1.0 for the roughness coefficient of SWMM. Total runoff ratio, peak runoff ratio and runoff sensitivity ratio for the selected parameters of those models were presented asthe tables and figures according to the scale of basin area, rainfall durations such as 60, 120, and 180 minutes and Huff's 4th quartiles rainfall distributions.
