금속 표면파 기반 비 전파 무선통신을 이용한 선내 무선통신 신뢰성 확보 방안

  • 자율운항 선박, 무인선 개발과 동 분야 디지털트윈 구현을 위해서는 선박 내부 데이터의 수집을 담당할 고신뢰성 선내 통신망 확보가 필수적이다. WiFi와 같은 전파 기반의 무선통신 시스템은 금속 구조물로 구성되는 선박 내 환경 자체가 원활한 통신의 장애 요소이다. 이러한 극한 환경 극복을 위해 자기장을 금속 표면에 유기하여 비 전파 기반으로 무선통신을 가능하게 하는 표면파 통신이 대안이 될 수 있다. 선박 전체의 일반 배치 관점에서 표면파 통신은 상갑판을 통해 크게 거주구역, 화물구역, 선수구역 및 기관구역 간 백본 통신망을 구성할 수 있으며 각 구역 별로는 부재의 개구부를 통해 금속 표면의 연속면을 확보하여 통신할 수 있다. 수밀 격벽의 표면파 통신 관통을 위해 비 도전체로 수밀은 유지한 채 아주 미세한 구멍을 확보하는 것으로도 금속 표면의 연속성을 확보할 수 있다. 이러한 표면파 통신을 활용하면 전파 기반의 무선통신, 비 전파 기반의 무선통신을 통합적으로 구성하여 선박 전체로는 선내 무선 백본망 구성, 그리고 각 구역 별로는 IoT 센서 네트워크 등의 선박 내부 고신뢰성 무선통신 확보가 가능하다.

  • This paper has investigated and discussed the effects of multiple PSK signals upon an wideband FM signal in an intersystem interference environment between analog and digital radios. Using the derived approximate equation for the output haseband interference noise, the signal-to-interference noise power ratio(SNR) in the top channel baseband signal has been numerically calculated. The results are plotted in graphs as the functions of carrier-to-noise ratio(CNR), carrier-to interfer power ratio(CIR), and normalized carrier separation. From the results in this paper, one can know some optimu, or suitable, operating conditions(frequency allocation, bandwidth, and power, etc.) for an FM channel in the intersystemn interferences from digital PSK channels.

Experimental Study of the Wireless Communication System by Surface Wave Communication through Confined Spaces on Vessels (선박 밀폐 공간 무선통신 구현을 위한 표면파 통신의 선박 활용연구)

  • This study suggests surface wave communication, which uses a metal surface as a medium, to provide wireless communication in the extreme environment due to surrounding metal materials on vessels. The test was conducted on a G/T 265 tons tug boat to confirm the possibility of surface wave communication between a bridge and each designated space in the ship. As a result, the transmission speed was 13Mbps on average. In a test case of the bridge via the engine room, the transmission speed was 4.3Mbps on engine running and 1.2Mbps on sailing. It overcame this by partially changing the equipment installation location. Surface wave communication in bow storage, a fully enclosed space, had 8Mbps better transmission speed than wireless communication; this confirmed the superiority of surface wave communication in confined spaces on a vessel. Additional surface wave generators were designed and applied to resolve the paint issue. It is expected to use surface wave communication to implement the new wireless solution for Maritime-IoT system on vessels.

  • In this study analyzed experimental data on noise interference caused by engine operating apply surface wave communication in the engine room. For the experiment, 7 areas of the engine room on 256 ton tug boat and measured noise during engine on off using signal analyzer for effect surface wave communication. In order to construct and actual communication network based on the analysis of the noise and confirm the characteristics of surface wave communication in the area made metal bulkheads the actual communication network installed communication equipment between three metal bulkheads and conducted a comparative experiment with wireless communication. The difference was confirmed. As a result, in the case of surface wave communication, there was no significant difference in the transmission and reception rates before and after engine operation in an environment with three bulkheads, but in the case of Wi-Fi using wireless, the performance deteriorated significantly during operation. was confirmed. As a result of analyzing the experimental data, it was confirmed that noise caused by engine operation affects wireless communication but does not affect surface wave communication. Therefore, even in the area with a lot of electromagnetic wave noise in the ship, when the surface wave communication system is configured using the ship's metal structure, it is possible to replace the wireless communication and furthermore, it is possible to apply the surface wave communication in the enclosed space and the engine room in the ship.

  • This study is an empirical result for building an onboard communication network using metal surface wave communication and is a consideration of its application within the ship. Over the past three years, the applicability and the performance of metal surface wave communication has been confirmed by testing on five small and medium ships. In the tests, IEEE 802.11 protocol of Wi-Fi was used, and the signals were generated in the form of surface waves. Data was sent from AP to AP in the point-to-point form, and the transmission speed was measured at the same time. If necessary, additional repeaters were used to extend the transmission distance. As derived a transmission speed of 5 to 100 Mbps in wireless communication restricted areas of the 5 ships, it is believed that it is possible to reduce the weight of ships and costs by eliminating the communication cables by using surface wave communication as the back-bone network on ships.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 홈네트워킹 시스템으로 대두되고 있는 Wireless LAN(802.11), HomeRF, Bluetooth 성능을 간섭이 고려되지 않는 경우의 실내 무선 환경하에서 시스템의 변조 방식만을 고려하였으며 실내환경에서 발생되는 에러에 대한 제어 기술로 Truncated Type-B Hybrid ARQ를 적용하였다. 무선 홈네트워킹 시스템의 채널 수 및 주파수 대역은 동일하며 실내 무선 환경을 라이시안 페이딩 환경으로 고려하였을 경우, 직직접파 대 반사파 전력비(K)가 6[dB]인 라이시안 페이딩 환경하에서 오율 $10^{-3}$을 기준으로 할 때 2FSK가 DQPSK보다는 E$_{b}$ /N$_{o}$ 가 약 3[dB] 정도 우수하며 오율 $10^{-6}$을 기준으로 비교하여 보면, DPSK 방식이 4FSK 보다 약 E$_{b}$ /N$_{o}$ 가 5[dB] 우수하였다. 또한 K=6인 라이시안 환경하에서 변조 방식만을 고려한 경우보다 성능 개선 기법을 채용한 무선 홈네트워킹 시스템의 E$_{b}$ /N$_{o}$ 가 더 우수함을 알 수 있었다.
