A development of the Vehicle-To-Vehicle communication system using the Dedicated Short Range Communication technology (근거리 무선통신 기술 기반 차량간통신 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we studied vehicle to vehicle (VTV) communication system using DSRC of 5.8 GHz bands. Nowadays, in the road traffic system is going intelligent and advancing, communication between driving vehicle is very important technology for ITS. We can contrive smoothness and safety traffic flowing by exchanging information about velocity, location, braking and driving condition of nearby vehicles. Therefore, we developed and verified the system which required for the communication among vehicles using DSRC technology of 5.8 GHz band hasa 1 Mbps data rate in the high mobility condition. For this, we developed DSRC modem, data link layer and logic link layer to make it possible that communication between vehicles of perfectly operation, and developed application service program for VTV communication. We performed to communication test in the general road and ascent road. In case of the general mad, obtained VTV communication results are more than number of 17 with in 300 m LOS coverage, and total communication time are $2.34{\sim]18.7$ msec that considered maximum 8-transaction. We blow that obtained results can be used VTV communication or the in areas form the feasibility road test as a function or various conditions. In the future, this system is very useful of advanced safety vehicle (ASV) and super smart vehicle system (SSVS) and so on.

Study on Advisory Safety Speed Model Using Real-time Vehicular Data (실시간 차량정보를 이용한 안전권고속도 산정방안에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes the methodology about advisory safety speed based on real-time vehicular data collected from highway. The proposed model is useful information to drivers by appling seamless wireless communication and being collected from ECU(Engine Control Unit) equipment in every vehicle. Furthermore, this model also permits the use of realtime sensing data like as adverse weather and road-surface data. Here, the advisory safety speed is defined "the safety speed for drivers considering the time-dependent traffic condition and road-surface state parameter at uniform section", and the advisory safety speed model is developed by considering the parameters: inter-vehicles safe stopping distance, statistical vehicle speed, and real-time road-surface data. This model is evaluated by using the simulation technique for exploring the relationships between advisory safety speed and the dependent parameters like as traffic parameters(smooth condition and traffic jam), incident parameters(no-accident and accident) and road-surface parameters(dry, wet, snow). A simulation's results based on 12 scenarios show significant relationships and trends between 3 parameters and advisory safety speed. This model suggests that the advisory safety speed has more higher than average travel speed and is changeable by changing real-time incident states and road-surface states. The purpose of the research is to prove the new safety related services which are applicable in SMART Highway as traffic and IT convergence technology.

Development of a Location Data Management System for Mass Moving Objects (대용량 이동 객체 위치 데이타 관리 시스템의 개발)

  • Recently, the wireless positioning techniques and mobile computing techniques were developed with rapidly to use location data of moving objects. Also, the demand for LBS(Location Based Services) which uses location data of moving objects is increasing rapidly. In order to support various LBS, a system that can store and retrieve location data of moving objects efficiently is required necessarily. The more the number of moving objects is numerous and the more periodical sampling of locations is frequent, the more location data of moving objects become very large. Hence the system should be able to efficiently manage mass location data, support various spatio-temporal queries for LBS, and solve the uncertainty problem of moving objects. Therefore, in this paper, we presented a hash technique, a clustering technique and a trajectory search technique to manage location data of moving objects efficiently And, we have developed a Mass Moving Object Location Data Management System, which is a disk-based system, that can store and retrieve location data of mass moving objects efficiently and support the query for spatio-temporal data and the past location data with uncertainty. By analying the performance of the Mass Moving Object Locations Management system and the SQL-Server, we can find that the performance of our system for storing and retrieving location data of moving objects was about 5% and 300% better than the SQL-Server, repectively.

  • In order to reduce marine accidents using advanced information and communication technology, various research and development projects are conducted globally on e-Navigation related technologies and services. Existing studies do not provide policy measures for LTE-M. In order for these technologies and services to be installed on vessels and to contribute to the prevention of accidents at sea, the law should be expand operational organizations and systems. In particular, communication equipment and related technical standards should be prepared, and its digital communication technology (LTE-M, VDES, Digital-MF / HF, etc.) In this study, we conducted short, medium, and long term performance assessment of the identification system and the policy for effective implementation of Korean e-Navigation. We presented a visible plan of the relevant policy. For example, e-Navigation core services, e-Navigation communication networks and operating systems, e-Navigation international standard leading technologies and e-navigation services activated in the field. To do this, we conducted research based on the progress data of the Korean e-Navigation project, which was led by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and conducted research discussions with practitioners and experts in related fields. As a result of this study, it is expected that the proposed policies will contribute to the reduction of marine accidents, the promotion of the maritime industry and the development of additional government policies for national security.

  • The purpose of the study is to analyze environmental changes in market, customer and information technology of Internet fashion industry, to present fashion company's current situation and strategy for confronting business environmental changes, and to propose the direction of the future research in this fashion field. First, the importance of Internet has been increased due to the rapid growth in number of Internet user and the size of the e-commerce. Second, to satisfy the customers requiring reasonable price and differentiated product and service, e-Branding strategy implementation, customized service development and enhancement on Web-site credibility and loyalty are demanding in the market. Third, development on the mobile technology and the increase in the Internet user using mobile communication device requires preparing mobile consuming environment, new business platform. Fashion industry's current situation and competitive strategy developed by the environmental change analysis were used for developing future research direction, that is, the m-business, CRM, and e-Branding. Through the understanding of environmental changes in Internet fashion industry and proposed research direction, research on Internet fashion marketing is hoped to be vitalized. Results of this study were expected to be utilized the strategy development.

  • Personal mobile devices such as mobile phone, PMP and MP3 player have advanced incredibly. Such advance in mobile technology ignites the research related to the life-log to understand the daily life of an user. Since life-log collected by mobile sensors can aid memory of the user, many researches have been conducted. This paper suggests a methodology for user-context recognition and visualization based on the outdoor location by GPS as well as indoor location by wireless-lan. When the GPS sensor does not work well in an indoor location, wireless-lan plays a major role in recognizing the location of an user so that the recognition of user-context become more accurate. In this paper, we have also developed the method for visualization of the life-log based on map and blog interfaces. In the experiments, subjects have collected real data with mobile devices and we have evaluated the performance of the proposed visualization and context recognition method based on the data.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification: 라디오 주파수 인식)란 라디오 주파수를 활용해서 무선으로 사물을 인식하는 것을 의미한다. RFID 기술을 구성하는 기본 요소는 태그, 안테나, 리더 등이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 RFID 기술의 기본 요소와 더불어 인식된 사물의 정보를 광범위하게 구축되어 있는 유${\cdot}$무선 네트워크와 연결하여 활용할 수 있는 모든 기술을 RFID 기술로 정의하였다. 비록 최근에 RFID 기술이 여러 분야에서 큰 이슈로 떠오르고 있지만, 실제 RFID 기술은 오래전인 2차 세계대전에 영국군의 자국 전투기 식별을 위해 이미 활용되고 있었다. 그러나 그 당시에는 RFID 기술의 구성요소인 태그나 리더의 값이 고가였기 때문에 특정분야에 한해 RFID 기술을 적용할 수 있었다. 그 이후에 1990년대에 이르러 RFID 기술은 가축관리, 컨테이너관리, IC 카드 등 점차 다른 분야로 적용이 확대되기 시작했다. 특히 반도체 기술의 발전이 급속도로 이루어진 1990년대 말을 기점으로 RFID 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어져, 현재에는 SCM(Supply Chain Management), 국방, 의료, 교통, 환경, 동물관리, 홈 네트워크 등 다양한 분야에 적용이 가능한 기술로 평가되고 있다. 특히, SCM에 있어서 RFID 기술 도입은 큰 파급효과가 예상되고 있다. SCM을 구성하는 기업들은 RFID 기술 도입을 통해 제품의 가시성(visibility)과 추적성(traceability)을 확보할 수 있게 된다. 기업들은 자신의 제품이 현재 어디에 있으며 어떠한 경로를 통해 그 자리에 이르렀는지를 실시간(real time)으로 확인 가능하게 된다. 미국의 월마트사(社) 와 영국의 메트로사(社) 같은 선진 유통 기업들은 실증연구를 통해 RFID 기술 도입이 비용 절감과 함께 고객 서비스 향상을 도모할 것이라는 결론을 내린 바 있다. 또한 현제 초기단계이기는 하지만 실제 RFID 기술을 도입하여 운영 중에 있다. 국내에서도 정부주도 하에 RFID 기술에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있으며, 지난 2004년에 유통 물류 분야의 1차 시범사업을 완료하였다. 그러나, 이러한 국내${\cdot}$외의 적극적인 도입 움직임에도 불구하고 국내에서는 아직 RFID기술 도입이 SCM(Supply Chain Management)에 있어서 구체적으로 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대한 연구가 거의 이루어지지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 특히 RFID 기술 도입 의사결정자에게 제공될 수 있는 정량적인 ROI 분석 모형에 관한 연구는 시급한 과제로 떠오르고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 SCM 차원에서 RFID 기술 도입에 따른 ROI 분석 모형을 제시하고 적용해 보고자 한다.

Feedback-Assisted Multipolling Scheme for Real-Time Multimedia Traffics in Wireless LANs (무선 LAN에서 실시간 멀티미디어 트래픽을 위한 피드백 기반의 다중폴링 방법)

  • In wireless local area networks (WLANs), the successful design of scheduling algorithm is a key factor in guaranteeing the various quality of service (QoS) requirements for the stringent real-time constraints of multimedia services. In this paper we propose a multipolling-based dynamic scheduling algorithm for providing delay guarantees to multimedia traffics such as MPEG streams. The dynamic algorithm exploits the characteristics of MPEG stream, and uses mini frames for feedback control in order to deliver dynamic parameters for channel requests from stations to the point coordinator (PC) operating at the access point (AP). In this scheme, the duration of channel time allocated to a station during a superframe is changed dynamically depending on the MPEG frame type, traffic load and delay bound of the frame, etc. Performance of the proposed scheme is investigated by simulation. Our results show that compared to conventional scheme, the proposed scheme is very effective and has high performance while guaranteeing the delay bound.

  • In this paper, In this paper, we propose a Cooperative Routing Protocol (CooRP) for supporting network convergence and transmission services efficiently in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks with Rayleigh fading environments. The main contributions and features of this paper are as follows. First, the routing routes are decided on route stability based on entropy concepts using mobility of nodes within the direction guided line region to increase the operational lifetime of routes as well as reduce control overhead for route construction. Second, a cooperative data transmission strategy based on the constructed stable routing route is used to increase packet delivery ratio with advanced SNR. Third, a theoretical analysis for cooperative data transmission of the proposed CooRP with outage probability is presented. The performance evaluation of the proposed CooRP is performed via simulation using OPNET and analysis. The results of performance evaluation show that the proposed CooRP by using stable routing routes and cooperative transmission can increase packet delivery ratio efficiently.

Congestion Control Algorithm for TCP Performance Enhancement by Bandwidth Measurement in Vertical Handoffs between Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (이기종 무선 망간 vortical handoff시 대역폭 측정을 통한 TCP 성능향상 혼잡제어 알고리즘)

  • With the widespread of the wireless Internet and wireless LAN, different wireless technologies such as 3G cellular networks and WLAN will cooperate to support more users and applications with higher data rate over wider areas. When a mobile node moves around in the hybrid networks, it needs to perform seamless vertical handoffs between different wireless networks to provide high performance data transmission. When an application with TCP connection in a mobile node performs a vertical handoff, TCP performance is degraded due to packet losses even though it maintains the previous TCP state information during handoff, because 3G and WLAN have different available bandwidth. In this paper, we propose a new congestion control algorithm for vertical handoff to improve the TCP performance by measuring the rough end-to-end available bandwidth and calculating the slow-start threshold. By ns-2 simulation, we show that the proposed algorithm enhances the TCP performance during vertical handoffs compared to the previous algorithms.
