In this paper I have surveyed vowel phonemes in a variety of English accents and have proposed the vowel systems of English. The English accents covered in this paper include General American English, Northeastern American English, Western American English, Southern British English, Northern British English, Scottish English, Southern Irish English, Northern Irish English, Australian English, and New Zealand English. The vowel systems proposed here reflect the acoustic information of vowels and phonological aspects of English. This paper offers an Optimality Theory-based analysis of the English vowel systems by appealing to independently motivated constraints. This paper, following Flemming(1995), makes an assumption that the vowel system in question is selected in output as an optimal candidate by a given constraint ranking, the assumption which is different from the view that the vowel system is fixed in input. The analysis proposed here gives an answer to why a specific vowel system is selected and why dialectal variations come about. It is shown in this paper that the vowel system selected in a specific dialect comes from an optimal satisfaction of a given constraint ranking and that dialectal differences result from dynamic permutations of the same constraints. The constraint-based analysis proffered here accounts well for the similarities and differences among dialects in regard to the vowel system.

본 연구의 목적은 요양병원 간호사의 역할갈등 경험을 기술하기 위함이다. 연구 참여자는 요양병원에 근무 중인 간호사 9명이었으며, 자료 수집은 심층면담을 통해 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료는 Colaizzi의 현상학 연구 방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 12개의 주제모음과 5개의 범주가 도출되었다. 5개의 범주는 '과중한 임무,' '불명확한 규정의 간호업무 위임,' '보호받지 못하는 의사영역의 업무수행,' '비체계적인 간호 보조 인력관리' 그리고 '업무능력의 한계'로 구성되었다. 본 연구결과는 한국의 보건의료 환경을 고려한 요양병원 간호사의 업무환경 개선과 직무만족도 향상을 위한 전략 개발의 근거를 제공함으로써 요양병원 간호사의 역할정립과 업무의 질적 향상에 기여할 것이다.

There are more than five systems for transcribing English vowels. Because of this diversity, teachers of English and students are confronted with not a little problems with the English vowel symbols used in the English-Korean dictionaries, English text books, books for Phonetics and Phonology. This study was designed to suggest criterions for the phonemic transcription of English vowels on the basis of phonetic properties of the vowels and a system of English vowel transcription based on the criterions in order to minimize the problems with inter-system differences. A speaker (phonetician) of RP English uttered a series of isolated minimal pairs containing the vowels in question. The suggested vowel symbols are as follows: 1) Simple vowels : /i:/ in beat, /I/ bit, /$\varepsilon$/ bet,/${\ae}$/ bat, /a:/ father, /Dlla/ bod, /$\jmath$:/ bawd, /u/ put, /u:/ boot /$\Lambda$/ but, and /$\partial$/ about /$\Im$:ll$\Im$:r/ bird. 2) Diphthongs : /aI/ in bite, /au/ bout, /$\jmath$I/ boy, /$\Im$ullou/ boat, /er/ bait, /e$\partial$lle$\partial$r/ air, /u$\partial$llu$\partial$r/ poor, /i$\partial$lli$\partial$r/ beer. Where two symbols are shown corresponding to the vowel in a single word, the first is appropriate for most speakers of British English and the second for most speakers of American English.

This study aims to describe the vowel system of present-day American English and to discuss some of its phonetic variations due to regional differences. Fifteen speakers of American English from various regions of the United States produced the monophthongs of English. The vowel duration and the frequencies of the first and the second formant were measured. The results indicate that the distinction between the vowels [c] and [a] has been merged in most parts of the U.S. except in some speakers from eastern and southeastern parts of the U.S., resulting in the general loss of phonemic distinction between the vowels. The phonemic merger of the two vowels can be interpreted as the result of the relatively small functional load of the [c]-[a] contrast, and the smaller back vowel space in comparison to the front vowel space. The study also shows that the F2 frequencies of the high back vowel [u] were extremely high in most of the speakers from the eastern region of the U.S., resulting in the overall reduction of their acoustic space for high vowels. From the viewpoint of the Adaptive Dispersion Theory proposed by Liljencrants & Lindblom (1972) and Lindblom (1986), the high back vowel [u] appeared to have been fronted in order to satisfy the economy of articulatory gesture to some extent without blurring any contrast between [i] and [u] in the high vowel region.

본 연구의 목적은 만학도 간호대학생의 대학생활 경험을 깊이 이해하고자 수행되었다. 7명의 만학도 간호대학생을 눈덩이 방법을 통해 표집 하였고, 현상학적 방법 중의 하나인 Colaizzi의 방법을 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과 108개의 의미 있는 진술이 도출되었고, 8개의 주제모음과 5개의 범주가 확인되었다. 5개의 범주는 '고난 속 학업', '혼자 떠도는 조각배', '편견에 부딪힘', '나만의 무기', '그래도 희망은 꽃핌'으로 구성되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 만학도 간호대학생들을 위한 적응 프로그램의 개발과 주변의 의식전환 및 지지체계의 구축의 근거를 제시하는데 기여할 수 있으리라 사료된다.

본 논문에서는 영어 발음기호의 2단계 강세뿐만 아니라 3단계, 4단계 강세기호 및 기타 특수기호를 쉽게 입력할 수 있는 방법을 위해 영어 발음기호 및 강세기호 체계와 컴퓨터 계통의 일부에서 제한적으로 사용되고 있는 영어 발음기호 표현방법들을 분석하였으며, 이에 따라 조합분음기호를 이용한 영어 발음기호의 입력방법을 제시하였다. 제시한 방법을 적용한 새로운 글 자체와 자판배치를 구성해 실험한 결과 워드프로세서뿐만 아니라 스프레드시트, 데이터베이스, 프레젠테이션 등 각종 응용 프로그램에서 모두 영어 발음기호의 입력이 가능함은 물론 각 프로그램 간 데이터 호환이 이루어지며, 특히 4단계 강세 체계까지 쉽게 입력할 수 있음에도 불구하고 개별모음 자판을 이용한 경우와 워드프로세서의 고유기능을 이용한 경우에 비해 입력속도가 크게 향상됨을 확인하였다.

HyGIS는 DEM 기반의 수문지형처리를 중심으로 다양한 모형을 연계할 수 있도록 구성된 S/W 모음이다. 이는 한국건설기술연구원을 비롯한 다수의 기관 및 연구원들이 노력한 성과물이다. 본 연구는 기존 HyGIS 연구과정에서 도출된 성과물의 실용화 사업화를 위한 방안을 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 S/W 테스팅, 오픈소스 도입, 클라우드 컴퓨팅으로 나누어 접근하였다. 먼저 S/W의 테스팅에 있어서 기존 개발 소스코드는 블랙박스 테스트 방식의 동등 클래스 분할, 경계 값 분석 등 일부 모듈에 대한 단위 테스트와 제한적인 통합테스트가 수행된 바 있다. 보다 체계적인 테스트 단계로서 화이트박스 테스트 개념 중 문장/분기/조건 커버리지에 대하여 검토하였으며, 실제 소스코드 중 핵심 구간에 대한 적용 및 정량화를 통하여 현 수준을 객관적으로 진단하였고 보완 방안을 도출하였다. 오픈소스 적용을 위하여 QGIS, MapWindow 등 공간정보 분야의 최신 오픈소스 모듈을 비교 검토하였다. 적용 단계는 이를 기존 HyGIS S/W에 반영시키는 과정이며, S/W 관점에서는 컴포넌트 모듈의 대체라고 표현될 수 있다. 대규모의 전환 비용이 발생되므로 적용 후보에 대하여는 기능적 측면 뿐만 아니라 마이그레이션 비용과 중장기적인 유지보수 비용을 고려한 검토가 이루어 졌다. 한편 오픈소스 기술의 적용은 단순히 구성 요소 원가절감 측면만이 아닌, 중장기적 유지보수 체계 도모 및 지속가능한 생태계로의 전환에 더 큰 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술의 적용 분야이다. HyGIS 입력 Data의 공급을 위한 인프라로서 자체 구축 인프라가 아닌 IaaS 클라우드인 Blob Storage 및 CDN을 시험 적용하였다. 클라우드를 활용함으로써 초기 비용을 최소화하고 합리적 비용으로 유연한 확장이 가능한(Scale Out, Scale Up) 구조를 취하게 되었다. 또한 입력 Data 공급 서버를 위한 Storage 측면만이 아니라 S/W의 배포에 있어서도 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기술을 활용하고자 시도하였다. 클라우드 기술을 활용하여 HyGIS S/W가 설치된 VM(Virtual Machine)자체를 임대하는 방식으로 시험 구성 되었다. VM에 대한 RDP 프로토콜 Access에 있어서 IP기반 접근 제어를 통하여 보안을 강화하는 방안을 실험하였으며, ISO 27001, ISO 27018 등 관련 보안 규정에 부합하는 서비스 제공이 가능하도록 검토하였다. 이러한 클라우드 VM방식 서비스를 통하여 Package형 S/W 뿐만 아니라 Subscription 방식의 서비스 제공 방식을 병행할 수 있다. 사용자에게는 S/W 설치 및 H/W Lock 구비 과정이 생략되는 이점이 있다.

본 논문은 선 녹음을 전제로 이루어지는 미국권 애니메이션 영어 립싱크(Lip-sync)의 제작 방법을 분석하여, 한국 애니메이션에 응용이 되도록 한글 자음과 모음의 형태에 입각한 입모양을 연구한다. 현업에 종사하는 캐릭터 애니메이터들을 위해 선 녹음으로 행해지는 한국어 립싱크에 대한 개념의 이해를 돕도록 하고, 특성이 다른 각 캐릭터들에게 응용이 가능하도록 한국어 표현을 위한 최소한의 기본 입모양들이 소개가 되도록 연구를 진행하였다. 서론에서는 국산 애니메이션의 한국어 립싱크의 필요성을 언급하고 미국의 한 프로덕션의 예를 들어 영어 립싱크 데이터에 근거한 한국어 립싱크 데이터의 연구방법을 소개하였다. 본론에서는 영어발음의 표현방법에 필요한 8가지 기본 입모양으로 각각의 특성과 역할을 보여주고 영어 표현에서는 필요하지만 한국어 표현에서는 필요치 않은 입모양을 삭제하고, 반대로 영어 표현에서는 필요하지 않지만 한국어 표현을 위해 필요한 입모양을 새로 만들어서 정리하였다. 이 결과를 가지고 한국어 표현을 위해 각 입모양이 어떻게 쓰이는지 각종 예를 들어 도표로 만들고 자음과 모음, 그리고 받침에 쓰일 때 어떻게 입모양이 달라지는지 연구하였다. 사례연구에서는 대사를 익스포져 시트(Exposure sheet)에 옮겨 적는 법과 립싱크에 맞도록 입모양들을 나열하는 방법을 제시하여 실제 작품제작에 사용될 수 있도록 하였으나 우리나라에서는 체계적인 한국어 립싱크 데이터를 가지고 애니메이션 프로덕션을 진행한 전례가 없기 때문에 부득이하게 한국 영화중 대사의 한 부분을 예로 사용하였다.

소뇌운동실조증(SCA)은 유전성, 진행성 신경장애로 SCA 환자는 소뇌위축으로 인한 실조형 마비말장애를 보인다. 본 연구는 집중 말운동치료를 통해 SCA환자의 진행성 실조형 마비말장애의 개선의 유무를 확인하고, 개선이 있는 경우, 치료전후의 변화의 정도를 보고하고자 한다. 55세의 SCA 여성 환자를 대상으로 말운동 기능 개선을 위한 SPEAK $OUT!^{(R)}$ 치료프로그램을 시행 후, 큰 효과크기 수준에서 MPT와 과제별 음량의 개선이 관찰되었고, 음도의 경우 적은 효과크기의 변화를 보였다. 그러나 음도의 폭은 큰 효과크기의 변화를 보였다. 음질은 jitter, shimmer, HNR 모두에서 큰 효과크기 수준에서 긍정적 개선을 보였고, 모음면적도 넓어졌는데 이때 F1의 변화가 두드러졌다. 또한 심도 수준의 VHI점수는 치료 후 경도 수준으로 낮아졌다. 집중 말운동치료 프로그램인 SPEAK $OUT!^{(R)}$의 시행을 통해 SCA 환자의 음량, 음도, 음도의 폭, 음질, 모음면적의 증가를 관찰하였고, 음성장애에 관한 주관적 인식의 변화도 긍정적으로 감소하였다. 기초연구로서의 본 결과를 바탕으로 SCA환자의 진행성 실조형 마비말장애 개선을 위한 SPEAK $OUT!^{(R)}$에 대한 좀 더 체계적인 검증을 위한 후속 연구가 필요하다.
