  • Recently, the meditation is getting a major concern because of the trend of wellbeing. The various meditation methods are introduced, but, we need to take an appropriate method for himself or herself. Especially, the numbers of meditators who are using meditation music while they are meditating are increasing. Some people say it is helpful, but others don't. Therefore, I have studied the impact of the meditation music in this paper. I have compared between the meditation with the music and without the music by measuring the channels of left and right hemisphere of prefrontal lobe with 14-channel EEG device. For the result, I have found that there are great difference between two experiments.

  • The goal of this study is to explore 'color meditation programs' for wounded heart healing of University students. Color meditation was found to alleviate negative psychological symptoms of young people and to raise their quality of life. Furthermore this survey was investigated in a way that participants who are not familiar with meditation activities could access this program without resistance. Also the characteristic points of this program are to be properly reconstructed and supplemented so that it can be applied without any limitations in schools. The satisfaction with color meditation program rather than the motivation of participation in it was determined to affect mental health. These results suggest that simply participating in color meditation program does not mean influencing mental health. Understanding and being satisfied with color meditation was found to be the key to mental health.

  • Although many studies have been conducted on techniques and effects that can be applied to forest meditation in domestic forest healing meditation research, there has been little research on the space where forest meditation takes place. Nevertheless, a meditation space is not just a place concept but a forest environment element responsible for the healing function of a forest, i.e., a place containing healing factors, and can be an essential clue to the healing mechanism. Therefore, to determine whether a healing forest meditation space is suitable for meditation, this study selected the attribute items of the meditation space using the Delphi expert survey and then surveyed the user satisfaction of the healing forest meditation space using the IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) technique. The survey was conducted from August to November 2022, targeting 315 adults who used the forest meditation space at the National Center for Forest Therapy, the Saneum Healing Forest, and the Jathyanggi Pureunsup Arboretum in Gyeonggi Province. The result of the IPA analysis showed the average satisfaction with the forest meditation space was relatively high at 4.33 points on a 5-point Likert scale (4.33 points for the National Center for Forest Therapy, 4.34 points for the Saneum Healing Forest, and 4.37 points for the Jathyanggi Pureunsup Arboretum), indicating that the three healing forest meditation spaces were suitable for forest meditation. Satisfaction with the "Sounds of nature" was high in all three forests. On the other hand, all three forests showed a relatively low satisfaction with "Quietness," indicating it to be a priority problem to be addressed. Also, an open-ended questionnaire survey showed that the mediation space's natural elements, such as natural sounds, scenery, air, forest spaces, and scents, had a higher positive impact on meditation satisfaction than artificial elements, such as facilities. Therefore, it is essential to secure sound resources such as the sound of water and birds around the meditation space, and it is also necessary to consider ways to create a meditation forest in an independent area to avoid encounters with visitors and allow only participants in the forest healing meditation program to enter to increase satisfaction with forest meditation.

In Long-term Maum Meditation group, 101 teachers who were attending Maum Meditation above one-year filled out the structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 14.0 program. The results showed that there was a significant difference in mental health including 9 subscales for short-term Maum Meditation group. Also, in long-term Maum Meditation group, there were significant differences in mental health excepting paranoid ideation. It was founded that Maum Meditation is the way for the mental health promotion in short-term and long-term period. So it is necessary to develop program according to training period for not only clinical application but also to strengthen coping ability for stress.

  • As contemplative education has been increasingly incorporated in schools in the US, this study aims to review literature on contemplative education for teachers and students in the US and to explore pedagogical meanings of meditation. I focus my analysis on research journals that include teacher and/or student participants incorporating mindfulness in school settings. I searched "mindfulness" and "education" through Web of Science and explored organizations or associations related to contemplative practices and education. I then analyzed the subjects on research purpose, research methods, and results. In the results, quantitative research on teachers' stress reduction dominated the research on contemplative education and quantitative research on teachers' efficacy and effectiveness with mindfulness followed. Contemplative research for students focused on their stress reduction and cognitive, social, and emotional development. Contemplative education should be involved in educational settings as pedagogical contents for improving teaching and learning. Contemplative education for students should aim to conduct whole-person education and should incorporate a variety of teaching skills and materials using different contemplative practices, including mindfulness, concentration, compassion, yoga, etc. Teachers' support for and positive relationships with their students through mindfulness and compassion meditation is the most important key to encourage students' learning in education.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate whether the schools and local governments were aware of the creation and operation of school forests. A survey was conducted of 45 teachers of schools selected as having the best practices in the school forest and 153 local government officials within the district where the school forests were built. The school teachers attributed the necessity to create school forests to the importance of beautifying the environment. The results showed that the area in which the school forest was created, the school environment after the school forest was created, and use of the school forest were generally satisfactory, but maintenance of the school forest was not somewhat unsatisfactory. Additionally, the results indicated that continuous maintenance was necessary for the effective use of the school forest, and there was a great need for professional personnel to conduct the maintenance program. Furthermore, local government officials recognized that beautification of the school environment was the best effect of creating the school forests. They also realized a great need for local government's support of a maintenance program and its cooperation with related ministries and agencies to create and operate the school forest. Thus, it is crucial to devise measures for maintenance and to establish a system by which schools and local governments can work closely to promote the creation and operation of these school forests.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a meditation application to promote home practice in a meditation-based intervention program and test its effects. In most cases, meditation-based intervention programs put an emphasis on home practice, which means it is an important matter to increase motivation for home practice and encourage people to do home practice more. The investigator administered an eight-week Korean Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (K-MBSR) program to college students participating in a liberal arts course at A University. While the experiment group (N = 22) received a meditation application, the comparison group (N = 19) received no meditation application. The amount of home practice was measured based on the practice logs kept by the participants. The difference in psychological effects between the groups was checked by measuring mindfulness, subfactors (noticing and return to body) of body awareness, life satisfaction, acceptance action, and sleep quality before and after the experiment. The findings show that the experiment group recorded significantly greater amounts of home practice than the comparison group. As for the effects of meditation, the experiment group recorded higher points in mindfulness, body awareness, life satisfaction, acceptance action, and sleep quality than the comparison group. These findings demonstrate that a meditation application can be useful as a means of assistance to promote the effects of a meditation-based intervention program. The study also discussed proposals for a follow-up study.
