Conservation of The Human Shaped Terra Cotta Mask Excavated from Jungcheon-ri, Jinju (진주 중천리 출토 인두형토기(人頭形土器)의 보존)

  • This paper aimed to show the whole conservation process of the human shaped terra cotta mask that was excavated from one of construction sites at Jungcheon-ri, Geumsan-myeon, Jinju. This mask was X-rayed to get the correct making techniques and there are 4 holes on the top of the head and each diameter of the 3 holes is exact and the other hole is different from the three. The long and sharp shape of the nose is in trapezoid which was separately made with clay and put on (the face). It's found that there are round grooves each around upper and down lips. (upper in length: 10mm, down in length: 6 mm). All restoring materials and adhesives used for restoration to associate each piece are reversibility materials. According to a few points on buried bones of animals distributed around the sites, holes and grooves on the top of the head, ears and teeth to wear something, it academically presumes that this mask could be possibly used for the group ritual. Especially, the whole procedure from excavation to scientific conservation process resulted to have a special exhibition to give the public new eyes how the exhibition realizes to the public.

  • In this study, characteristics of effect on hydrogen gas was investigated to hydrogen embrittlement by disk and tensile tests. The developed and commercial alloy was fabricated to a plate material made from an alloy ingot. The prepared materials were processed in the form of a disk to measure rupture pressure by hydrogen and helium gas at a rate of 0.1 to 1,000 bar/min. In the hydrogen pre-charged tensile test, a specimen was hydrogenated using an anode charging method, and the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, elongation, and reduction in area rate were carried by a strain rate test. Also, the microstructure was observed to the fracture surface of the tensile test specimen. As a result, the developed materials satisfied endurable hydrogen embrittlement, and the fractured surface showed a brittleness fracture surface with a depth of several ㎛, but dimple due to ductile fracture could be observed.

The Study on the Design and Numerical Analysis of Self-Supported Retaining Wall with Cement Treated Soil by Vertical Mixing Method(V-DCM) (연직교반혼합처리(V-DCM) 연속벽을 이용한 자립식 흙막이공법의 설계 및 해석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the design methods of self-supported retaining wall with cement treated soil constructed by vertical mixing method (trencher mixing method, V-DCM), which are using in domestic and foreign field, are investigated, and the characteristics of it are presented with comparing the results of numerical analysis with the drainage and construction conditions. The results indicated that the method 1 (total stress analysis) is the most aggressive, and method 2 (effective stress analysis) and method 3 are similar in the internal stress, and the stress and the horizontal displacement are effected on the soil type and drainage conditions in backfill of the wall. Also, in the case of the design combined with numerical analysis the method 1 can be applied, in that of the traditional design without the analysis the method 2 or the method 3 can be used. Finally, if the numerical analysis is only conduct, the tensile stress in excavation base and in boundary of the wall and the original ground have to be considered in the numerical analysis method.

A Study on Condensation Heat Transfer in Air Pre-heating Heat Exchanger using Hydrophilic Surface (친수성 표면 처리를 통한 공기 예열 열교환기의 응축 열전달 성능 연구)

  • To increase the heat transfer rate of the air pre-heating heat exchanger used for the condensing boiler, We investigated condensation heat transfer coefficients through plasma surface treatment. The hydrophilic surface showed about 10% increase in heat transfer rate than original plate. It shows that Shah correlation can be used to predict the condensation heat transfer coefficient on the original surface within 10% error range after the compatison between Shah correlation and the condensation heat transfer coefficients measured on the hydrophilic surface and original surface. Therefore, we have shown that Shah correlation is available when designing the air pre-heating heat exchanger using the original surface in this study.

  • Attacking of computer and network is increasing as information processing technology heavily depends on computer and network. To prevent the attack of system and network, host and network based intrusion detection system has developed. But previous rule based system has a lot of difficulties. For this reason demand for developing a intrusion detection system which detects and cope with the attack of system and network resource in real time. In this paper we develop a real time intrusion detection system which is combination of APEX and LS-SVM classifier. Proposed system is for nonlinear data and guarantees convergence. While real time processing system has its advantages, such as memory efficiency and allowing a new training data, it also has its disadvantages of inaccuracy compared to batch way. Therefore proposed real time intrusion detection system shows similar performance in accuracy compared to batch way intrusion detection system, it can be deployed on a commercial scale.

The Effect of Surface-Modification of Wood Powders by Plasma Treatment of Propylene on the Mechanical Properties of Wood Powder/PP Composites (프로필렌의 플라즈마 처리로 개질된 목분이 복합재료의 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Wood powders were surface-modified by plasma-treating propylene to make them compatible with PP matrix in WPC(wood powder composite). The plasma treatment of propylene resulted in the deposition of an ultrathin hydrophobic film which had the chemical structure similar to that of polypropylene. Wood powder and polypropylene were mixed to pellets by twin screw extruder and then 50 wt% wood powder/PP composites were produced by an injection machine. Tensile strength and flexural strength were improved by 7.59% and 12.43% at the maximum respectively. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) observation on the fracture surface revealed that the treatment improved the interfacial bonding and the mechanical properties of the composites.

Consolidation Behavior of Poor Mixed Soil-Cement (빈배합 시멘트 혼합점토의 압밀 특성)

  • The amount of dredging clay will be greatly increased by the eco-rive project and port development in Korea. Geotechnical engineers have thrown their efforts into the new ways for effective re-uses of the dredging clay such as the material for reclamation, and so on. However, very high initial water content and low strength causes unexpected difficulties in the aspect of trafficablility or time for consolidation. Therefore, the injection of cement stabilizer is used as one of ways to improve reclaimed ground. However, it also makes an argument by heavy metal from cement stabilizer. In this paper constant rate of strain consolidation test and normal consolidation test were performed to investigate behavior characteristics of the consolidation about soil-cement include lean mixed cement to reduce the environmental loads by the cement. The experimental results of consolidation characteristics about soil-cement include lean mixed cement influenced by mixing ratio. Especially it was observed that mixing ratio of 4%~6% leads not only the reduction of consolidation settlement, but time for consolidation.

A Study on Block Processing Approach for Mono-Static Terrain Imaging Radar (모노스태틱 지형 영상 레이더의 블록 처리 기법 연구)

  • This paper describes a block processing approach to detect targets in front of mono-static terrain imaging radar (TIR). It is difficult to employ several conventional imaging methods of the synthetic aperture radar(SAR) because the TIR is an ultra-wide-band(UWB) type of radar and employs a dechirp-on-receive process. To design an available imaging method, a block processing approach which conducts a range compression and an azimuth compression is proposed in this paper. The complete derivation of the proposed approach is presented. The results of simulations and field tests are demonstrated to show the performance and validity of the proposed approach.

DCT Domain Post-Processing Based on POCS (DCT 영역에서의 POCS에 근거한 후처리)

  • Even though post-processing methods based on projections onto convex sets (POCS) have shown good performance for blocking artifact reduction, it is infeasible to implement POCS for real-time practical applications. This paper proposes DCT domain post-processing method based on POCS. The proposed method shows very similar performance compared to the conventional POCS method, while it reduces tremendously the computational complexity. DCT domain POCS performs the lowpass filtering in the DCT domain, and it removes the inverse DCT and forward DCT modules. Through the investigation of lowpass filtering in the iterative POCS method, we define kth order lowpass filtering which is equivalent to the lowpass filtering in the kth iteration, and the corresponding kth order DCT domain POCS. Simulation results show that the kth order DCT domain POCS without iteration gives very similar performance compared to the conventional POCS with k iterations, while it requires much less computations. Hence the proposed DCT domain POCS method can be used efficiently in the practical post-processing applications with real-time constraints.

  • High bandwidth RF such as Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, 3GSM, HSDPA is papular in the mobile phone market. A non-conducting metal coating process requires an e-beam deposition of metal, two steps of UV hard coating primer and top coating; however, it is inefficient. We navigate to the electron beam irradiation conditions(resin surface treatment conditions) in the PC/ABS resin injection process. By analyzing the experimental results, we find the optimum development conditions for the electro deposition pre-treatment process and mass production lines using the plasma generated electron beam source.
